Yeah, it looks like the drivers both installed just fine. I'm at a loss to come up with any other possible solutions. Sorry.
-
Yeah, it could be voltages. Seems like the normal voltage range for that particular ram is 1.65 to 1.85 volts. If your system is only providing 1.5 something that could definitely be it.
-
After doing some searching on the web it seems that somebody who had your exact same problem had a bent pin on their cpu. Either bent when inserting it or pre bent. Admittedly this is only one person but since you and MNP can swap ram and graphics cards and only your system has the problem then chances are this is it, or else it's another cpu or mobo problem.

Hero side you can also get a particular SO (which is much much much more powerful than IOs at this level) from Yin in Faultline. By completing the missions for Penelope Yin you unlock Yin's market. In there each origin can buy a single type SO of levels 13, 17 and 21.
Mutation and natural get damage
Science gets recharge
Tech gets endurance reduction
Magic gets accuracy.
If you use the level 13s at level 10 they give you a 38% boost. Even at level 14 when they will be -1 to your level they are still worth 30%. And at level 14 you can buy the level 17s.
Alternately IOs at those levels will not do nearly so much.
Level 10 will give you 12%
Level 15 is 19%
Level 20 is 26%
Level 25 is 32%
Level 30 is 35%.
So as you can see even though IOs never lose their bonus SOs out perform them until at least level 25. Even a -2 level SO is equal to a level 20 IO. Yins SOs are the biggest performance boosters available from level 10 to level 20.
Now for the bad part. You can't even unlock the story line that lets you get the SOs until level 15 so you will either have to buy them on the market where they are extremely rare and extremely expensive. Or you can ask in a global channel or broadcast in Faultline and see if anybody will buy you some. -
Because you some people don't bother to read the other threads I'll explain it here.
It will be inherent and you will get all abilities at level 1 or 2.
Yes they can all be slotted.
If you already have fitness in your current build then you will need to respec in order to get it as an inherent. -
Try monitoring your temperatures. Since it's crashing no matter what you do even browsing the web there is a good chance your cpu is overheating.
-
This probably won't solve the program but it might. Go into the game directory and right click on each of the .exe files. Choose properties and then under the compatability tab check the boxes for disable desktop composition and disable visual themes.
Also make sure the power connection to the graphics card is good. If the card isn't getting enough power it would handle lower graphics options fine but freeze up under load. -
First, what is the beep pattern and what is your power supply? Just for reference.
Now try this. Boot with 1 stick of ram and go into bios. Once in bios check to see if the ram usage is in ganged mode. If it is then change it out of ganged mode and see how that works.
Just so you know ganged mode means that each core can address all ram. Non ganged mode assigns a single stick of ram to each core. It can actually make for faster performance but isn't something you want to do if you have low ram which you don't.
If that doesn't work then report back for further possible solutions. -
I could be reading too much into it. It's just that I have NEVER seen NCSoft ignore all it's other games like this before. Usually they even have the free to play stuff represented. And as I said they had twice the space as usual.
If it is due to the game switching to Paragon Studios then PS promotional department needs to get off their lazy behinds and make some sort of appearance. The areas dedicated to games tripled this year. Even little startup companies just trying to bring out a new card game were able to get a decent sized space. For a studio not to show off their product right after a significant expansion and graphics upgrade gives the impression of about as much confidence in their product as a movie studio that refuses to screen that movie for critics before release. And if you hope to build your subscriber base impression is everything. -
Could be a bad power supply or one that's not powerful enough to handle your system. How many watts is it?
-
So here is what I think of their appearance at PAX. I think that NCSoft is planning on one of three things.
1. Sell or split off Paragon Studios and leave them on their lonesome along with the city of properties.
2. Fold the studio and the game.
3. Give up on the game as a money maker and just let it survive on it's own for as long as it can by trying to keep current subscribers on board and paying for expansions.
I'm pretty convinced that option 3 is what they are doing. When I heard that City of would have no presence at the NCSoft booth I figured that they wouldn't have it playing on any screens but they would at least have a representative there with some literature and game codes. But that would be zero, zilch, zip, nada. Other than the panel you wouldn't even know the game is still around. No advertisements, no buttons, and not even in game codes at the booths. They are acting as if the property doesn't even exist.
It's not like they didn't have the room either. In previous years they have had one spot with two or three games playing on the screens and a table with various trinkets and game literature. This year they had double the space. Two huge areas, one dedicated to Aion and the other to Guild Wars II. So the only players who could get the costume codes would be those who showed up at the panel or the meet and greet which wasn't actually an official PAX event. At least I'm making that assumption since I was only able to make it Sunday and the booths didn't know anything about CoH codes. So for any PAX goers who don't frequent these forums there would be absolultely zero evidence that City of even existed if they didn't check the convention schedule to see what panels there were. No posters, no banners, no buttons, not even the index cards that beginning game companies give out.
Honestly this year PAX has convinced me that NCSoft feels there is no more real incentive to keep the game going for anything other than the continuing income that the long time players provide. I've ignored the doomsayers precisely because we have had a steady player base who were willing to buy whatever expansion packs were put out but to me this honestly looks like the first step of City of Heroes going the way of the other properties that the studio didn't consider big money makers. Internally there may be huge plans for issue 20 and beyond but externally I don't even expect to see a lone leaflet drifting by in the wind.
On the bright side though this means they will be giving the loyal subscribers pretty much everything they ask for (inherent fitness pool for example) in an effort to keep them around as long as possible. So keep your eyes open for full power set respecs, Big Red Ball, a Catgirl Expansion and perhaps even work on pvp. -
Quote:I wouldn't mind watching lighthearted corny Plas episodes because Plastic Man was always lighthearted and corny. The part I don't like is completely changing the character of the non corny heroes. Aquaman as the example has never been that way. I would object and dislike it equally if Plastic Man were suddenly made into a dark and serious hero.I liked the one with the sidekicks. Then there's the Red Tornado and "son" episode. Then the Blue Beetle Vs the Green Lantern Corps. Then there's the JSA episode. There are a lot of serious episodes and yes, a few corny ones tossed in. But throughout, Batman is always Batman, deadly serious at all times.
As for Aquaman, he's the antithesis of Batman. He loves hamming it up, telling grand "fish stories" about all his battles. He's the boisterous friend that you put up with his tales because he'll always have your back.
Blue Beetle is post Kord BB so don't get too upset.
I enjoy it because other than later JLU episodes, you got to see a number of teamups with lesser DC heroes and villains. The further down the list, the sillier the episode in general. You will not like any of the Plastic Man episodes, guarantee, assuming you like your hero drama always serious. -
It has to be a hero in Paragon to unlock the HEATs. It has to be a villain in the Rogue Isles to unlock VEATs.
Have you actually tried playing any of the hero archetypes or are you just assuming you wouldn't like them? -
Quote:This pretty much expresses exactly my feelings about the movie except I'm not just thinking about picking it up on dvd. I'm definitely picking it up on dvd.First, never read the comic, just the Wikipedia entry for the comic.
The movie makes a lot more sense if you realize it's all from Scott's point of view. The movie opens with "Scott Pilgrim - Status: Awesome". Except he's not awesome except in his own mind. As long as he's alright with a situation, everyone else is.
Take Kim, he's sure everything is fine between them but considering the daggers she's shooting at him every time she looks at him it's obvious to everyone else that there are still unresolved issues there.
Take Knives, he cheats on her, even though they have a rather chaste relationship, but he doesn't really consider it cheating because in his mind he's already moved on to Ramona.
His friendship with Wallace. No who else but him thinks it's Okay to scrounge off your friend indefinitely, including sharing a bed. As long as Scott thinks things are OK, everyone thinks it's OK.
His band. He's a mediocre at best bass player. He's easily distracted. Blows off practice and isn't interested in the actual success of the band. But he's alright with that so everyone else must be too.
The only baggage he carries is his breakup with Envy (N. V., cute, thank you wiki). She treated him as carelessly as he does with other women. But it had nothing to do with him of course, it was his haircut that caused the breakup, hence the hat every time someone mentions his scruffy hair.
So when he gets gobsmacked by the site of Ramona after she wanders through his head she instantly becomes the prize, the goal, the reward. More so once the league gets involved. But in the end he wasn't concern about the league because what's important to him was that they were dating, nothing else mattered.
So basically at the core. Scott isn't a nice person. He isn't awesome, he's a dick who thinks he's awesome. But actually he's banked up a lot of bad Karma.
Ramona on the other hand is very much like Scott except she's aware of her failings. But instead of facing them she flees from them hoping to start fresh. Again Karma's a *****. I think she would have been happy not dating anybody but once she crosses through Scott's mind they were linked.
Scott's encounters with the league highlight his inadequacies. Most are more successful than he is. All think they're better than him. Yet Ramona dumped them all. Scott believes he has to defeat them to prove to Ramona that he's better than all of them.
At it's core the movie is about accepting responsibility and consequence of past relationships, yours and your partner's and try to move on. To, continue? 9..8..7..
I can see some liberal arts elective on film including this film as one to dissect and discuss the true underlying themes.
I've seen it twice. I'm thinking of picking up on DVD when it comes out, something I don't do often with movies.
I'm disappointed that it didn't succeed as well in theaters. I think the TV ads didn't sell the film properly. I think the movie posters and stand-ups didn't sell the film properly, at least the ones around here. It's not a straight up comedy or action or romance or fantasy film and in a movie market where a film is promoted as being one specific genre, they simply didn't know how to sell it.
And to anybody here who hasn't seen it yet, don't bother to post your opinion on the movie until you have seen it. You can't judge it from the trailers any more than you can judge a Shyamalan movie based on the trailers. -
I'm back. I just watched Chill of the Night and thought it was awesome. I pretty much figured I'd like it when I saw it was written by Dini but it's good to have my faith confirmed. So you have shown me that B&B is more than just that Three Stooges comedy of the couple episodes I've seen. Now I'm going to have to check out more episodes and hopefully the two I originally saw, and the trailer linked in this thread are complete flukes.
-
Quote:Teen Titans was never funny. And if you want to see serious watch the Brave and the Bold episode "Chill of the Night".
Ok, I'll check out Chill of the Night. I'm always open to giving things a second or even third chance if somebody is willing to point out what I should be looking for. And as for TT being funny I'll agree that it really wasn't, but that isn't what I said. It tried for humor at times with food, fart, and failure jokes. However aside from these deliberate jokes the show took itself seriously.
Although it didn't take things nearly seriously enough with The Judas Contract adaptation. They never should have attempted to adapt that story line given their obvious network constraints. -
Actually at the confrontation with Gideon it is explained why Scott is fighting the evil exes.
-
I would suggest hitting a used book store and picking up the several years worth of the Wild Card series. The books range from short story collections to individual hero novels to mosaic novels. Mosaic novels are written by the authors of all the characters involved with each author contributing their own heroes actions.

I've seen Scott Pilgrim twice so far and will see it again. Plus I've nagged friends, family, and coworkers into seeing it.
The problem is that the marketing does make it seem that Michael Cera is the star of the movie but he isn't. The movie isn't about Scott Pilgrim but rather about the people he interacts with. Kind of like Willy Wonka (The Gene Wilder movie, not that blasphemous travesty with Johnny Depp doing a bad Michael Jackson impression) isn't about Charlie even though he's the pivot the story rotates around. -

Quote:No, they made him into a goofball. That is unless there is an episode that paints him in a completely different light than that idiotic Aquaman on vacation episode. To all the Batman: he Brave and the Bold haters: They managed to make Aquaman awesome. Something no other show has been able to do before. That alone makes the show great.
On the other hand Crisis on Two Earths did a great job of making him awesome. -
I always find this amusing. Amusing because of how differently my perceptions seem to work in comparison to many other people. I find other MMOs much more grinding because no matter what level you reach the missions are always the same. 90% of them are kill this creature and bring me this many of of this body part. And the majority of them take place in the same scenery. Occasionally you may go into a cave but the majority of the time you are just running around the general area of the city whose level you currently match. And those areas are always boring landscapes with a few trees and hills. There is a reason other MMOs are all about the end game and that's because the beginning and middle part are as dull as dull can be.
It's like playing CoH with missions that consist of nothing but street hunts.
Brrrrrrrrrr.... I shiver at the mere thought. -
I hear that background hum in Atlas and in labs and possibly council bases, I haven't paid that much attention. But it's not very loud so it probably is your sound system. Your drivers might be out of date causing it to emphasize the wrong sounds.
-
Big Red Ball. Finally after all this time. And in the panel Apex is looking for a team to play ball wars.
-
Quote:I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you as well. Not that CoH can run. Not that you can enjoy the experience. But that it runs perfectly. I have played CoH on a laptop, on an older gaming system with an ATI card. And on a good gaming system with an 8800gt. And now I'm looking to improve my system by upgrading past the 8800.I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with this. CoH runs perfectly on both my and my girlfriend's laptops, and neither of them are high-end nor gaming rigs.
To make a comparison to a different form of electronics. A non gaming laptop is a fifteen inch black and white television. Yes you can watch your tv shows on it perfectly fine. You aren't seeing any color and you aren't getting very high resolution but it is watchable. And if it's all you've ever watched tv on then it seems great to you.
Then comes the higher end laptops and the mid range basic desktop systems. They are like a thirty inch color television. A whole new world has opened up. The stories are the same. The jokes aren't any less or more funny. The characters are still just as obnoxious or lovable but you are now seeing things in color and the larger screen size lets you see things that you may have been missing before.
Then come the gaming laptops and high end desktop systems. Now you have a forty-two inch 720p Plasma. You may have thought the old color television was great resolution and you couldn't imagine that HD would make that much of a difference. But the moment you see a series, movie or sports event broadcast in HD there is no comparison.
Lastly (at least for now) are the high end desktop gaming rigs. Now you have a sixty inch 1080p HDTV (plasma or lcd, your choice). The jump from 720 to 1080 isn't nearly so drastic as the jump from black and white to color or even as drastic as the jump from standard to HD, but it still there and it's still very obvious.
So sitting there in front of your HDTV and watching your Blu Ray remastered release of Blade Runner there is a question you must ask. Do you consider your old black and white television perfectly good? Yes the story, the characters, the setting are what give you your love for Blade Runner. But is the experience really the same?
And that's why I tell people to upgrade from a laptop or lower end desktop. Not because I don't think they are enjoying their experience but because I have seen the difference myself and I know that I never want to go back unless I am forced to. I would rather have that black and white tv than nothing at all. But only just barely.
