  1. Kind of reminds me of the South Park episode where the boys play WoW and the only way for them to level up was to kill billions of critters in the newbie zone for a few months.

Only after defeating the evil PvPer (by a cheat) were they then free to 'play' the game.

If you haven't done so already, watch it. It's pretty funny and people on these boards just might relate.

Warning: There is one really gross poo scene that might offend some, but barring that, it should be rated PG13.

    Does AE need XP?

I totally aggree. In the very least kill the one in AP. Galaxy is often underpopulated and can use the traffic.
  3. Well in the history of slaps in the face, that one hardly seems worthy of being called the 'Ultimate'.
  4. I still get hasten on my kin corruptor. I'll always need more speed.

As for travel powers. I'd say 75% of the time I don't, 25% of the time I do (I've played more than one kind of Kin). Naturally, the siphon speed and inertial reducution will get you to where you have to go, but sometimes Siphon speed+hover is just easier. Now, that I'm a 60+ month vet, I don't even have to take hover and might just go striaght for flight. In that case I'll likely respec my kin out of IR.

When you get what travel power will likely impact your descision as well. Also, a mayhem mission or two will also get you the travel power you'll need in the early levels. So you might just put off any travel power descisions until later when you respec.

    I hope this helps

    PVP IOs

Ah, 1:250. I think that's pretty reasonable. Might be time to do some missions in PVP zones. I'll likely hunt in the off-hours as I'm not an adept PVPer at all, although perhaps I'll get my NW into it.

    PVP IOs

    My search-Fu must really suck!

I just wanted to confirm: PvP IOs only drop in PVP zones right? Are they uncommon, rare or ultra rare (like a purple IO)?

I can find opinions but nothing really certain about this.

    Thanks in advance!
  7. Yup. AE tickets are rather easy to get and they can get you uncommon and rare salvage for little effort. INF is always cheap so that ultimately inflates the price of common salvage.

    Very interesting economy really.

The most inflated items (IMHO) are the common salvage and the rare purple IO recipies. There are at really high levels. The purple ultra-rare recipies though I think are in line with the effort one needs to get them.

Still, 5mil for a circuit board? That is rediculously high. I'd just get a salvage storage at a base and keep a few commons in there for personal use and sell the rest.

It really is a seller's market right now.

    Resurrection IO

Perhaps this could occur as a temporary power with a few charges rather than being a purple IO slotted into a power.

That might make more sense and be more widely applicable.
  9. What's really cool is doing the LGSF with 8 VEATS.

The stacked buffs really are something great to see.

    Gravity (Again)

I'd just be happy if they did something with dimension shift (either make it a toggle) or swap it out for something else (anything else). The latter would certainly move gravity up a long way.

GDF could recharge a bit quicker to make up for the lack of AOE control, but otherwise I think it's OK.
  11. I've noticed the same thing. No idea why this may be though.
  12. I like elec personally. Ball lightning is a good Targeted AOE as is the elec nuke (can't recall its name). I've been tempted to make a elec/MM but I already have elec/elec in the mid 40s.
  13. Heh heh,

I've never found psi bast to be all that spectacular - neither over nor underpowered.

Seems that everyone so far that's provided numbers would at least aggree that it's not overpowered.
  14. You just signed up on the forum 2 days ago and you're asking what the fastest leveller is?

Why are you even spending money to play the game?

    Going Rogue?

I will add though. I intend on at least one of my VEATs to come over to the blue side.
  16. Malakim

    Going Rogue?

Nope. My WS is staying on the hero side. It doesn't fit her story at all to switch over.
  17. It does stink! I wish there was a bit of customization available. At least let widows get the Vanguard claws!
  18. See this being in the corruptor thread, I think its only reasonable to see more on that end.

I think a controller for soloing would be easier in the higher levels though. They might damage critters less, but containment will help. That, and they really mitigate the damage comming thier way.

I know I solo with my controllers far easier (although slower at first) than any of my corruptors.
  19. I like ice rain with tarpatch - they stack the slows for that extra damage. Quite a site to see in slow mo!
  20. I have both a crab/bane and a NW/fort. I was thinking of bringing my NW/fort to the blue side, although I'm really uncertain right now.

I'm not sure what I'll bring to the red side from blue. I was thining of my fire/kin controller (who's from Praetoria to begin with) might be good to move over.

In any case, I hope that changing sides isn't a one-TF sort of thing. I hope it would take some dedication to do so.
  21. CT:O is quite useful early on, when you need the accuracy.

In the later game, especially with IOs, it's role is pretty much deminished to zero. I still have this on my NW, but it's going to be the first thing to go when I respec.

L:TT, although helps your whole team, takes a bit too much end for my tastes. After 20 or so, your teammates should have thier accuracy sufficienly slotted though so it's not useful for that. What could be useful is the team perception bonus though. If you find yourself going up against a lot of night widows, it could be useful against thier smoke grenades. And for that you would not need it on all the time, just turn it on when fighting NWs.

Still, that's a pretty lame use for a slot.

Unlike maneuvers and assault (which every SOA should take), leadership is of less use.
  22. I have to agree with Mr Grump.

Drain psyche and Psy shockwave make the end-game /psi dom better than /fire. I've played both fire/psi (40) and plant/fire (to 50). The latter has become rather lackluster compared to the fire/psi.

Being a walking forest fire though is fun conceptually though.

    Widow survival

Do what I do: use dual builds.

I've done so on my crab/bane as well as my widow/fort. With the SOA it really like having access to two ATs in one character.
  24. Malakim

    Fortunata farmer

My widow/fort (dual builds) is only at 45 now. Not much in the way of global recharges and I can't farm with her yet. Still, she's a great assistant-farmer without the IOs.

In the very least, your quasi-farming fort will always be fun to play.

I suspect that the Going-Rogue expansion will bring some extra goodies that will bring that fort up to farming standards. Still, you'll always play second fiddle to the fire/psi doms and stone brutes.
  25. Such a useul thing to know. This should be in a more visible guide.
