I would really like to get a villain asasp to 50, what is your opinion on the fastest leveling villain??

Posted

hmmm any villain can be a fast leveler, i think my best was 2 days, mind u i was up playing the whole 48 hours.

Posted

you should really state ur interests, ie pve, teaming, soloing, pvp, etc. that way once the villain is 50 u can still occasionally find a use for it.

but why not roll a fire/psy domi?

I would really like to just destroy in pvp, in the most efficient way possible. And is Cap Au Diable a fast place to level up I'm guessing?

Not especially, but that's where most of the AE powerlevelling is done. If you're going to use the MA for it, any of the basic zones except Grandville will work. Grandville works just as well as the MA, though you'll need to find your own bridge.

As for "fastest levelling" - meh. If you're doorsitting, they all level equally fast. If you're actually running missions, I think a well built Brute will have the easiest time of it. If you just want it for PvP, decide what you want to use in your matches and make one.

A kinetics corruptor will get you on a lot of teams once you get speed boost.

I think Doc is referring to the rampant PLing Farms that are still going on via the AE in Cap.

Hoenstly though, why the rush to 50? Enjoy the ride... after all, there is only one zone where being 50 even matters for PvP (as far as I know, and that isn't very far ).

To answer the original question: any villain can level quickly if you invest the time into it and team often. I mean, all characters (at the same level) gain XP at the same rate when on the same team. Really, you should be asking to join an active VG so that you can maximize your teaming potential.

However, I would say that a Brute may be your best bet. They are great additions to any team and can hold their own solo as well. TFs love to have a brute or two, and most any build would do you just fine. That said, any Set with lots of AoE will assure that enemies get "tagged" so that when they die you get some XP (again, this point is moot if you are teamed).

What is PL farms and AE?

PL = powerlevelling
AE = Aeon Entertainment (aka Mission Architect, or MA)
farm = mission with a good reward/time ratio that is frequently either repeated in AE or else reset without completing it to keep it available.

So a PL farm would be one that provides a lot of experience for a small time investment; often through the autosk feature in the mission architect that will set you to (for example) level 45 while a level 50 runs around killing all of the level 50 mobs.

I just returned after about a year off so these AE teams are a new thing to me...

Yeah those AE.PL farming groups-while GREAT on XP are really, really, really(you get the idea)...monotonous... and sometimes horrid if you get a team that has no idea... IF you get into a good team then you breeze through and gain levels very quickly...but still ho-hum imo

AE/PL farming is-to me at least- are like One night stands, yeah you get a piece but you don't know who they are and it’s not fulfilling... as opposed to having a partner which in the long run is better

Quests/TF's/ Story arcs are more fun, you get to actually meet ‘people’ not the l33t gamers that have the best min/max sets that simply leave if the group isn’t L33t enough etc.

Granted, in the end we are all doing the same thing... trying to level up, obtain new powers. More influence/infamy

Like others have stated it’s not the destination but the journey there

If you are going solo, bots/forcefields MM is the way to steamroll the highest difficulty missions.

Still slower than a team, and boring. Fastest 50 solo though, I've been told

It's definitely easy. Not sure I'd call it fast by any means.

Fastest solo to 50 would probably be a Brute. Fire/WP, maybe?

Probably, but SS would be up there also by catching up after level 32. EM not so much anymore, just because it no longer has the 1-sec killshot that let it sortof keep up with small-size AoE damage by killing multiple single targets faster than the AoEs could cycle. SM can still do that, but it can also starve for endurance without building to sustain its attack chain.

I have to agree with that statement. Fire Melee is devastating on a Brute. Leveled mine to 50 in about 3-4 days and he was very good for Fight Clubbing in RV. Not so much in this issue, though. As far as PvE and leveling goes, all your enemies will melt before you.

You just signed up on the forum 2 days ago and you're asking what the fastest leveller is?

Why are you even spending money to play the game?

Because they want to pvp. They said that in the thread.

Whether or not you agree with their reason is irrelevant and forum registration date is not necessarily a good indicator of account age.

I was impressed with this thread going nearly 2 full pages of open and honest discussion on topic without judgment, then...

Consider that people play games without registering on forums and for a variety of reasons. Also, reg date =/= start of play.

Not even close to fastest. Bots are pretty slow from 1-25 and not that much faster from 26-31, and /FF adds no debuffs or damage to speak of. It's very safe, and makes a great tankermind / group focused MM, but something like Thugs/Dark or Thugs/Traps will be faster.

For pure solo leveling speed, I'd agree on a Brute. Fire/Shield if you have a rich alt to provide IO support, Fire/WP if you're going to be supporting yourself. If you'd rather group, I'd go with SS/Shield or SS/Fire if you have a rich alt, DB/WP if you don't... SS does fantastic AoE damage if you can afford a lot of +recharge, but at SO levels you actually get better AoEs from Dual Blades. Likewise, /Fire or /Shield isn't going to handle large swarms without IO help as well as /WP can.

Of course if you rely on outside buffs you can go with any combo... SS/Fire with a Kin and a Thermal would be fantastic. But I find that on most servers "fast" and "looking for a team with good buffs" rarely go together... you're probably better off with something that can survive on a buffless PUG if need be unless you have a good SG that teams a lot.

(Of course if you have a really, really high boredom threshold you can always make a Fire/Fire Brute and run AE missions against custom groups full of nothing but Fire Melee lieutenants or bosses, but I think I'd go stir crazy by level 25 doing that. Maybe sooner.)

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name
