  1. Oh wow, your serious then...

Thing is, they did follow up on the apology (which in truth wasn't needed except from a PR standpoint) with the rename tokens. If they really weren't sorry and just 'turning backs' they would've tried to make you pay for the privilege of renaming.

For that matter, the entire thing could be looked at as an action after the slight. They announced the merge and the resulting feedback caused them to re-evaluate the method and ultimately change it accordingly.

If your still sore over the issue that's your choice, I'm still sore over the forum changes that happened in August and all we got was boilerplate marketspeak. At least you got an apology.

    In conclusion;
Don't feel so entitled to special treatment and you'll find you get over things much easier. If your tired of the EU being singled out, why are you requesting it continue?
    We are one now.
  2. I'm afraid it'd be a two-way street as well though.

Sure, some would be more likely to purchase a booster when they see the pieces for themselves.

However, the reverse would also be true. I for one regretted buying the Mutant Pack only to discover my video card didn't want to make the pieces 'glow' which is the only reason I bought said booster. If I'd had the option of seeing that before hand I wouldn't have given them that cash...

However, it's really a moot point as Green pointed out!

  4. I've had more MM's stall out at the 20-22 level range than any other AT for the reasons described. The only one that didn't seem to notice and continued to steamroll everything was my Necro/Dark thanks to the
    -tohit.

I'll second the suggestion to get the Pet uniques as soon as you can. I prefer to go with the +res and +def ones myself, as it makes them that much more survivable and lets me focus on more than healing.

My strategy of choice is to unlock capes and costume slot at 20. This usually gets me to 21 solo. Then I start the new arcs in Talos, mainly Nance and Cooling. They're new enough and engaging so I don't notice the slow down as much. Generally when I finsh with those arcs, maybe adding Adair in, I'm usually at 22 and then it's off for SO's which will improve things significantly!
  5. With a spirit as strong as yours and the support of this community I fully believe that 20% is more like 200%. Such is the power of positive thought!
  6. My question is...

If we don't reach the magic number of 2500 on Freedom at the same time, say we hit a maximum of 2200 are we all just out of luck?

I'd hate to be the Dev/OCR that had the unfortunate task of informing us the next day, thats for sure.

I've avoided Freedom for 7 years as my rig was subpar. I've got a new one now but still avoided it for various reasons. All the same, when I heard about this 'Crash us please' request I went ahead and rolled up my namesake and have been slowly leveling, hoping to atleast be 14 before the 27th.

I really hope we make the 2500 mark. Though I was quite shocked to learn there has never been more than 3500 on a server at once... Even during DxP.

As an aside, This last update by Beastyle makes it sound like you don't even have to bother logging in to freedom to get the badge. As long as we reach that # it'll be server wide for the memorial weekend. I would've thought it would only be avail to those that endured the lagfest but okay.

    How It Ends

Only problem I see with it is the thread title.
As this isn't how it ends exactly. This is how the new adventure begins!

    Newbie and lost

Once your level 20 you'll start getting tip's drop from random enemies.
You can find these tips in the contacts screen. You'll notice an odd looking counter and some bubbles under it.

When you run tip missions you'll have to pick between 2 moral options.
If your a villain it would be either Villain or Rogue.

If your wanting to become a hero pick the rogue tips.

You earn credit for them but can only earn credit on 5 a day. Once you complete 10 tip missions you'll have the morality mission drop for you.

Run the morality mission and confirm your rogue alignment and viola! Your now able to cross over to the Hero side.

In order to become a full fledged Hero instead of a Rogue (which has some restrictions) You'll need to do 10 more tip missions focusing on Hero alignment this time.

    Very.... Moving.

Thank you both for the years of service to the good fight!

  11. I used to do that for inspirations, until AE came out. It slowly became easier to just look for the recognizable building in every zone.

Even more so now that all the hospital's have helpful nurses!
I haven't bought anything from my contacts this year.
  12. Goodness, I still recall running the Bricks/Founders store contact missions just for enhancements. Never really bothered me back then because I like the atmosphere of those two zones, but since the markets and IO's I don't think I've run any in years.

I'd be all for updating the contact stores. I wondered that myself the other night when I got the standard check out my stuffs message from Hardluck. I mentally asked why he even bothered.

I particularly like the unique temp recipe at the end of arcs. It would be IC and immersive and would be more incentive to run the arcs! Win/Win.
  13. I tend to develop them over the 1-50 journey. Though, like Techbot, it really depends on the toon in question.

Some are simply as powerful as they'll ever be right from the start. I just explain away the 'lack of powers' as why use overkill? I don't need Total Focus to 'arrest' this Hellion when a well placed Power Blast will do. My villains would consider it beneath them to over-exert themselves on weaker prey.

Once I start encountering higher threat mobs though I have to break out the heavy artillery.

Others though, I view as just having been bestowed the powers, either through an accident or mutation suddenly manifesting or etc. These toons do indeed start out trying to figure out their abilities and what works/doesn't. Adding powers down the line as they figure out new 'tricks'

All my toons, regardless of origin/backstory view the 1-50 as a career arc. 1-14 being the initiation phase, when you 1st start your career.
14-22 being the getting comfortable in the city phase.
22-38 being the "Hey I'm starting to gain some recognition! Not as revered as the Phalanx but still!
38-50 being the twilight of the journey heading into retirement.
At 50 they are semi-retired as they've seen and done it all by then, saving the world on countless occasions and are as respected as most of the big name Heroes in the lore. Letting the new blood take up the mantle so to speak and only coming out for the huge universe shattering threats.
  14. I've loved the UStream chats so far so count me in! This time I might even sign up so I'm not just a lurker.
  15. Talk about going out with a Bang!

Can't say I'm glad that your leaving, always sad to see Vet's retire. I do understand your reasons though so...

Goodluck with all your future endeavors!

    New player here

Welcome to the game as well!

One word of caution. You might not wanna get to attached to that name. Even more so if the look and bio is as expected. Just in case your unaware...

Anything that would 'seem' to infringe on a copyrighted character, mainly from Marvel or DC most often gets what we call 'Genericd' Which means you'll log on one day and find that your name has been changed by the GM's to Generic0285352324 and if the costume is questionable it'll be reverted to basic grey.

It might not happen, just don't want you getting really attached to him only to have it yanked away mysteriously.

Homage toons are fine, as long as you stay away from using identical names or looks/bios.

(I still recall the old days of Claws/Regen Wolv3rin3's running rampant.)

Then Marvel sued us and the rest is history.

That said, check out paragonwiki.com it's a treasure trove of information. Also might want to download

Mid's Hero Builder This tool will help you plan out builds if your into Min/Maxing.

    Have fun Hero!!

  18. Wait, Power Boost no longer affects Knockback? Must've missed that note on the journey.
  19. Wow. I should actually be able to make it to that!

*Walks off mumbling how odd that is...*

I say, date the nearest cosplayer near you, make her/him/them dress up as YOUR ideas, and snap a lot of pictures.

    I will take a few 8 x 10s...
Not a cosplay contest as such. It was a Halloween contest with the rules being you submitted an ingame screenie of your toon and then your costume that matched. Had some really cool looking winners.

  22. It's considered bad form 'round these parts to put Healing Aura on Auto.
Numerous reasons for this have been passed around, from you looking like a leech, to the annoyance of it banging away while the team rests. Easy solution is just don't do it.

That said; I've done it a few times on my Empath when the situation calls for it. If your on an 8 man invincible (or whatever the new equivalent is) and the proverbial stuff is hitting the fan. Health bars diving into the red faster than you can click HO and AP, Then I ctr click Aura, to increase my output while I continue to spam everything under the hood. However, as soon as the immediate threat is over, and my HO can take back over the majority of it, Off goes the auto.

Use it as a last resort measure and you'll never hear a harsh word.

Have it on Auto the second you zone into the mish and expect to be kicked from most every team.
Same goes for that most annoying Quills toggle. Turn it off in WW people!! (side rant)

    Elec/... umm

I was hesistant to roll my Elec/Kin since I've played Kin's a few times.

I'm so glad I did though. He's a blast to play! Loving it even more than my Fire/Rad these days.

I'm still debating on SB though, I usually skip it just to avoid the SB NAO mindset some teams get in, since I'm a controller I'll be too busy to constantly reapply... but thats another story.

    I'd say go Elec/Kin or Elec/Storm, maybe Elec/Sonic.
