  1. Since it now appears The Coming Storm begins with Issue 21. I imagine the first signature arc will have us teaming up with one of the Phalanx to investigate rumors of another threat while the Incarnates hold back Cole's forces. This arc will have us going up against various factions depending on level while we discover the reason for the Shivans ramp up in activity!!

So, it'll be the story that's more important than the enemies. What could it be?

Is Shiva, The Destroyer of Worlds about to reform right under our feet in Bloody Bay?

What would happen if Rularuu the Ravager was somehow able to feed off this energy and reform himself?? If Rularuu was able to then break free somehow...

Perhaps the Storm is the mysterious alien race that utilize Khedlians as fuel???

Stay tuned. It should be interesting!
  2. I'd like, in no specific order:

Martial Arts secondary for ranged AT's
    Dark/Dark Blaster.
    Duplicate Summoning for MM's
PPD/Vangaurd/Longbow/ any heroic group summoning for MM's (we need Hero counterpoints now.)
    Themed sets like
Super Speed. Which would include the applicable pool and themed powers such as multi punch and spin moves etc. Ala The Flash, his only power is SS.
Elemental. Could draw from all the various elemental powers in game for either ranged or melee.
Streetfighting melee set. Less martial arts more brawling.
    Super strength for scrappers!
  3. That is indeed a bug. I'd see about getting a Mod to either move this thread to the Tech support/Bugs section for better visibility. Or just make a new one there.

Also make sure you /bug it ingame on that character. Be sure to provide all useful info such as server/ atname etc.

I've never had that happen on any MM. I can only imagine the headache it would cause... Not to mention the insta death if in the thick of it. It's the equivalent of a Tanks toggles all turning off whenever they level.
  4. Good point about the Set being in the store for Freebers/Prems. Surprised that didn't occur to me.

I don't expect an increase in the amount they can create. Rather I believe they've been 'ramping up' for this all year long. Probaly one of the reasons why the past few issues have seemed like we were headed in an 'All Incarnate all the time' direction was simply because that was the content they needed in place before this.

The comments from Zwill and Jay seem to indicate they are withholding a plethora of goodies specifically for the purpose of fleshing out the store and enticing us ViP's into rapidly spending our points.

So yes, I do expect a flood of content to be forthcoming, not because I think they can suddenly create tons more but rather because they've all but told us they've already got it made!
  5. You made all these? If so Bravo!!

Really like Batman III and The Vigilante!

The fact that he didn't burst into laughter I'm going to take as a sign that he didn't think what I was saying was absurd.

The impression I got, from everyone I had a chance to talk to at Paragon about Freedom face to face, is that they believe this will open doors to expanding the game and delivering a better product to its subscribers as well as the premium players that the new model picks up. They could be wrong: it wouldn't be the first time. But I believe they are sincere, and I believe they are on the right track at the start. That's really all I can ask for from the development team.

And as I said previously, even if you are right it will take quite a while before we know that. The biggest problem with Issue 21 is that its going to set the bar pretty high for Issue 22. Only the most jaded and flippantly negative players are going to be able to say we aren't getting our money's worth and then some in I21. And my guess is that I22 has stuffed the pipeline with stuff as well. So if a drop off is coming, the earliest we're likely to be discussing it is sometimes around Spring 2012. And it would take at least until Summer 2012 to establish a trend. Long before then I think we'll know if City of Heroes Freedom ends up opening doors for the game to expand its footprint, resources, and development.

I can say I'm starting to look at this change in a much more positive light after having read this letter and finding out the lengths PS has delved in order to make the transition successful. Combined with my own reassessment of what exactly I expect and want. I still have faith in our Dev's and finding out how dedicated the are to us is very reassuring.
  7. The comment from Zwill during the Ustream about having
"Lot's more reasons to keep creating alts"
has me wondering if he's alluding to tons of new costumes items in the store, perhaps even some of the signature NPC items we've all craved for years. Or rather cosmetics + quite a few powersets they've been holding onto.

    AS mentioned above it's all but confirmed that they will be charging for entire power sets. The mild mannered article goes so far as to say;

"One of the really cool elements that was shown off was something I inadvertently alluded to a few weeks back: two-handed melee weapons. It turns out that isn't coming in a Super Booster but in the new store. It also promises to change the dynamic of the weapon sets to reward a slightly different playstyle, emphasizing repeated weapon strikes in quick succession. Interesting stuff, to be sure, although I was told that it won't quite be ready for the store's launch. But hey, you have to leave something for further on down the line."

While I can see the reasoning for this as I stated above I do have to wonder if it's the best approach. We're wanting to lure the freebers into subscribing. Seeing the ViP's running around with freshly launched powersets could be just that kind of motivation. Then again, the new sets would be more enticing to those of use already familiar with what's live, so we'd be the market for them...
  8. Here's a catch-22.

We've been clamoring for 'X' for a number of years. 'X' can be anything from the Staff fighting set to the MoonBase zone as long as it's something big.

A year from now 'X' is announced as coming, but it'll cost PP for everyone, including ViP's.

My knee jerk reaction would be the same as quite a few. I wouldn't tolerate it. Then I got to pondering.

What if the reason we never got 'X' before was simply a lack of funds. With the influx of cash from the store they were finally able to create it, however in order to create the next 'X' they'll need to charge us for it.

Would we accept this? If the fact was that we Never would have seen it under the old model?
Or in other words, is it worth it to pay for it if it would never be created otherwise?
  9. Indeed, you can't become a ViP because by the very nature of posting here you already are one.

As long as you remain a subscriber you'll be considered ViP. Nothing to do on your end but keep paying. If you cancel though you'll drop down to Premium level.
  10. The one thing that keeps me from even trying any of the FB games is the 'You must spam the hell out of all your friends daily' nonsense. I've even resorted to unfriending people that wouldn't stop pestering me to 'be my neighbor!!' or 'help me feed kitty!!' posts.
  11. I've deleted perhaps 5 to 6 characters. Total. In 7 years.

The only time I delete is when I have a great new concept but my server of choice is full (I'm an altoholic, I have 3 servers full.) Even then it has to be a toon not played in over a year that I just never got into.

I've even payed for transfers so I could free up space on Infinity and Virtue without deletion.

I guess you could put me in the "To not delete" crowd.
  12. I actually don't have an issue with this and I play a great deal on MM's.

The way I see it, these are the most unique classes we currently have ingame. So denying them to freebers is just extra incentive for them to become Premium or ViP's. The 1st time a new player see's a Warshade port overhead, or a Demon MM with his whole cadre in tow it'll make an impression. It's something they haven't seen in other games. So they'll shelve their Broadsword scrapper and purchase the flashy AT's.

Aside from that. They can be easily gimped and would result in new players getting overly frustrated (without the support of the forums) and leaving unhappy.

  14. None.

If I'm not paying, I'm not playing.
I love this game and the only times I've canceled have been due to burnout or PC issues as oppossed to cost. Heck, most of the time I remain sub'd just to be able to post here.

If I were to cancel, it'd be for one of those reasons, thus I wouldn't be playing at all.

That said, I'm in wait and see mode. If it turns out that the difference between ViP and Premium is marginal AND I end up having to fork over more cash for stuff on top of the sub... Yeah, then I might free up that $15 a month for the PP instead.

(As an aside: Picking 2 characters out of my 138 would be torture, sheer unmitigated torture.)
  15. My bet?

Skyraiders, to focus some attention on the quickly forgotten Sutter TF.

Indeed. Man, I can only imagine how hard it was for ZWill and crew to keep silent about this during the fallout from the 20.5 announcement. You just know it was killing them not to be able to chime in and say, "calm down, we've already ironed out a way to unlock the auras/etc without running itrials.

Still, it wouldn't shock me all that much if the goodies dumped into the Incarnate store remain there for the simple fact that they don't like removing things once they hit live.

    Sup

    Hmmm....

Seems like for every 1 vet we have 'retire' due to changes 2 more return to the City!

    I like those odds.
  18. Yeah ingame ads flopped big time well over 3 years ago. I see no point in them trying to rez it at this time.

Personally I enjoyed seeing them, gave the city a more realistic feel.
  19. I wouldn't consider it dead after one day. As I've seen nobody saying it's a bad idea the thread is still very much 'current'. Even more so given the huge news announced today pulling every poster to one thread.

The lack of posters wanting to sign up may seem discouraging but keep in mind some posters only check in once a day or even once a week.
Don't let all the other posts that would on the outside appear to look like derailing deter you, as it serves to bump the thread and keep it visible.

    Unless I'm missing something...
  20. Try as I might, I can only see one question mark in the title...
  21. This is probably my second favorite mission in the game to solo. The first being later in the Croatoa arc when you have to rescue and protect the chant.

My Blasters struggled at first, before I got the pattern down. Now they excel at it while some of my Melee toons have problems. SuperSpeed helps a great deal.

I really wish we had more dynamic missions like this one. With a real rush of adrenaline feel to it without being the standard timed defeat all. We need more of the 'Get to the bomb before the other guy' races, with it actually being a race as they spawn at the same time as you and the like.
  22. I'd probably go with 2 Empathy/Ice defenders. As I see it, with 2 Empaths buffing each other, any secondary you take is going to shine. The holds and slows provided with /Ice would increase your buff time and combined Ice Breaths should prove useful.

Otherwise I'd mix and match and probably go with
    Emp/Rad
    Emp/Sonic
    For obvious reasons.

Hmm, might be interesting to run an Empathy Controller/Defender duo.
    Going with those options I might look at running;
    For safety
    Electric/Empathy Controller
    Empathy/Electric Defender

    For damage
    Fire/Empathy Controller
    Empathy/Ice Defender
  23. Indeed. For the longest time whenever I logged in my main I'd be stuck in 1st person view everytime I zoned forcing me to scroll back and hit pagedwn. Was the only toon that happened on and it always happened for months then just vanished.

For all my alts though I have the 'floating tray' bug creep up from time to time, usually when I exit a mission it'll be an inch or so lifted from the edge of the screen. Rarely I'll get the 'ghost tray' appear. Just a small empty extra tray appears in the middle of my screen after zoning. I just chalk it up to gremlins and keep on truckin though.

I think a good bit of the fear still lingering is because we are unsure about the consequences of choosing to ignore the Incarnate system right now.
I've made the choice not to participate in the system because it just doesn't offer me anything. However, I do have a fear in the back of my mind that if I don't jump on the bandwagon now...

I'll end up being locked out of all future content by default. After eagerly anticipating 'The Coming Storm' for all these years I'm now seriously worried that if I don't Grind away like mad that I won't be able to even see the zone that it's in...

That's my fear and I'm sure it's shared by quite a few of the ones that have made the choice not to use the system as it stands now.

I'm done complaining about it though, now I'm just keeping an eye on the debate and hoping for some light at the end.
