3-year-old (at least) annoyances
I bet this has been done many times, but coming back after 3 years away I was kind of surprised to see some familiar bugs still there. Doesn't NCSoft have some junior / new guy that can hunt these down while the seasoned old guys are doing the fun stuff?

- Enhancement and Inspiration trays showing on top of each other when you log in; |
If you set the windows the way you want it and save the configuration (with /wdwsave or the save window button in the Menu>Options window) then you can recall that setup with /wdwload or the load window button.
Try using /wdwload right now. If the windows don't jump to the default or your previous set up, then, it's likely you've switched monitor sizes.
- "run" or "jump" acting like you are holding down the button when you are not; |
Use the /showbind <key> on the <key> that's causing it to see what it's bound to.
If you want it to be just run or jump and not autorun or autojump then use these commands:
/bind <key> "+run"
/bind <key> "+jump"
If you use two plus signs, then that is the 'stay on' feature.
- That Striga mission about "Wolf's Throat", which is impossible to find without the vidiot map pack, because the little yellow arrow takes you to the middle of the swamp, and points underground. Either change the arrow to point to the entrance, or have the contact give the players a hint, like "the entrance is a concrete bunker east of the marker on the map". |
Inconvenient and frustrating. But, not a bug. The waypointer has never pointed you to the opening of a tunnel to your destination. It does it for doors, but never tunnels.
- Or the guy who gives you "defeat 15 council in boomtown" mission. The only council left in boomtown are immediately killed by 5th Column the minute you get within 100 feet of them. It makes it kind of silly when the premise is that the council is out of control and need to be smacked-down a little. Why not change it to "defeat 15 fifth-column in boomtown"??? |

ive seen the random overlapping enhance and inspiration windows, minor problem thats not even really that inconvenient
the other issue about it thinking that buttons are pressed but not is usually a case of a lot of window flipping or small lag spikes

Actually, that's probably your fault for switching monitor sizes.

I have that happen occasionally and only play CoH from one computer with one monitor. Also, sometimes the power tray has moved away from the edge of the screen. And sometimes I'll have an extra power tray floating around the window - a power tray I never opened.
Some of the GUI elements just act wonky.

Indeed. For the longest time whenever I logged in my main I'd be stuck in 1st person view everytime I zoned forcing me to scroll back and hit pagedwn. Was the only toon that happened on and it always happened for months then just vanished.
For all my alts though I have the 'floating tray' bug creep up from time to time, usually when I exit a mission it'll be an inch or so lifted from the edge of the screen. Rarely I'll get the 'ghost tray' appear. Just a small empty extra tray appears in the middle of my screen after zoning. I just chalk it up to gremlins and keep on truckin though.

A weird one is the extra trays from the + option not the original 3,
If you are using any of the extra trays on a character and alt to one who isn't those same trays stay active, although they are all set to tray 1, and the uppermost had a weird shape.
The code that checks if a character is using them and opens the extra trays should imo also check if they are only using the default 1 to 3 and then not open any unnecessary trays.
As far as I can tell this annoyance/bug has been in since the + option for additional trays has been.
Overlapping Insps/Enhancements Trays and Badge/Mission/Contact info, both seem to occur when switching between a character with one set active and one with the other (same as above), additionally this can occur between logoff/exit and the next game session too.
And my least favorite, the minimap on a new character if unlocked from the nav bar and moved, once you log out it closes, once you log back in and move it again it will stick, but never the first time!

If you focus on these small problems, you are very, very shortsighted. I have my days with this game(mapservering/QoS) but when I get tired of this, I sub a new game and immediately reaffirm why I keep my CoH sub. Frankly, I can come on Freedom anytime of the day and make progress with total strangers. Sadly, I measure every MMO to this game. I'm about to top out my characters and I don't know what I'll do then but this has been the best gaming/entertainment investment I have made in recent memory. The COH team is working really hard here and the last 7 months, we have gotten things that make the game better(GSM, Ncsoft Installer that works through firewalls so I can keep it updated easily from anywhere). They're missing some things but it's not because their lazy.
I hope CoH is better for you this time.
