  1. Reminder;

You are a Villain in charge of a villainous organization.
Therefor there is never a need to make sure something is 'Kosher' as ethics have no place in the Isles.

That said, I can't really see there being much demand for a used base.
  2. I'm past the point of anger now and into the laughing at the absurd stage.

I logged in for the 1st time tonight, had a full wall of subs to look through, clicked one and BAM logged the frak out. I was logged in for less than 1 minute... Just like that, everythings marked read...

    Good morning,

    Fix your forums please.

    Sincerly,
    Your aggravated customers.

I was really rooting for Janeway as the first featured female captain in starfleet. But it became clear in the first season that were I a member of the crew of Voyager I would have smothered her in her sleep. The most offensive thing Janeway was ever scripted to have done was what she told Harry at the end of the episode "Flashback" where Tuvok's memories of serving on board the Excelsior were explored:

"It's not surprising they had to bend the rules a little. They were a little slower to invoke the Prime Directive, and a little quicker to pull their phasers. Of course, the whole bunch of them would be booted out of Starfleet today. But I have to admit: I would have loved to ride shotgun at least once with a group of officers like that."

Considering that Janeway throughout Voyager basically made up the rules as she went along, and not just in terms of viewer perspective but the character herself *admits* that she's the captain and she'll damn well do whatever she wants,
Upon multiple rewatchings I start to see beneath it though. My initial impression of Janeway was that she was a lose cannon way to quick to judge and hit the destruct command. The more I watched her growth though, the more I realized this was her 1st trip out as Captain. Mere days in she's stranded on her own. Of course she's going to end up being more cavalier in her approach since she can both get away with it and has nobody with seniority to look to for guidance. She has to make tough choices that break the rules in order to survive, as a result her character becomes more nonchalant with the Prime D as the seasons go on.

I realized, for me, Janeway is a Captain I both admire and hate. Unlike Picard who seemed untouchable, Janeway has many, many flaws yet always has the best interest of her crew in mind. Though I don't approve of her methods, the results are rewarding.

The one thing that stands out in my mind as being the most grievous thing she did was decide to kill Tuvix. While losing Tuvok and Neelix would have been a significant blow to the crew and morale, I just can't fathom making that choice. Even more so after Tuvix's performance begging for his life...

Janeway was a Captain I could despise while still following into battle.
Picard was a Captain I could admire while trusting to avoid battle.

I kept asking myself in certain Voyager scenarios, WWPD? What would Picard do in this situation. Usually his method would have ended up leaving Voyager stranded forever.
  4. Oh man, that's almost as much of a timesink as Tropes...
  5. Yeah, that sounded more like it was scripted to sound unscripted than two A.I.'s responding to the others input.
  6. I've always used This easy to use guide on Redside.

Needs to be updated, but it's still good for planning out which arcs I want to run, which arcs have badges and alerting me to the unlockables early on. Otherwise I simply wouldn't even know about them as the game never points you to most of them.

    Not exactly.

Voyager was sent out to capture a Maquis ship that was hiding in the badlands. Tuvok was undercover on board the Maquis ship.
The Caretaker then pulled the Maquis into the Delta Quad.
When Voyager came looking for them a few days later, the Caretaker pulled them in as well.

Instead of using the Array to get back home, she decided to destroy it to prevent the Kazon from using it to hurt the Ocampa.

The wormhole from TNG that the Ferengi end up trapped in is later found by Voyager. The 2 Ferengi have set themselves up as demi-gods to a primitive culture.

Or one kinda like a SoA where you choose differnt paths, again woudl work well with a rikti mastermind, you could choose to summon lots of monkeys, or the standard 3/2/1 model with regular rikti troops, or summon one warwork that you have to upgrade
Only issue with this is AT performance balance. Part of the 'challenge' for MM's is the micromanaging of the 6 pets. Keeping them together, on target, deciding which to heal 1st etc.

While it'd be cool to have one animated stone, then it upgrades over time to a giant rock golem by your side, it removes an intended handicap built into the AT. While also making one primary much easier to use than the others, since you'd only have 1 pet to watch/control.
  9. I'm willing to bet my paycheck that Freedom does not go live within the next 2 weeks...

They've encountered some... hiccups, which will delay the release.

Beyond that. They would never release such a huge issue without some sort of advance PR. A week out or so.

They had planned on announcing the firm release date for Freedom at PAX but according to Posi, that date is currently up in the air while the problems are being ironed out.
  10. Man builds used Tough and Weave combined with Stealth and Invis and the medicine pool to augment survival.

Still, I wouldn't want to try it. Your plan at least doesn't sound as annoying having shields from secondary and all.

You are correct. They either typoed and left out the 'r' or was just mistaken.

    Ditto.
  13. This is very similar to the MAN builds from years ago.

    To have a MAN build, iirc you had to be;

    Natural origin
Only use powers avail to everyone (pool powers, temps)
Had to have MAN in caps in the name
    No powers from Primary
No powers from Secondary (including shields)

Never sounded that fun to me but they did have a 'following' for a while there. Ranks up there with Petless MM's for annoyance factor though.
  14. I'm a huge fan of TNG. Thanks to Tivo I was able to 'rediscover' TNG as an adult and subsequently watched every single episode no less than 100 times each. For a year or so it was my routine to eat dinner while watching 2 episodes of TNG.

Eventually though, it got to the point I could tell the entire episode from the very 1st line uttered. I needed my Star Trek fix though, so I turned to Voyager.

I wasn't able to get into Voyager at all, just didn't sit right with me. So I then tried DS9. That show though, felt nothing like Trek to me. It was so wrapped up in religious overtones I just gave up.

I then returned to Voyager, starting at episode 1. I was determined to give it a fair chance this time around, as it had been over a year since I stopped watching TNG. Once I got over the fact that Janeway is not Picard I was able to get into it. Eventually I grew to appreciate the magnificent adventure in the Delta Quadrant, I learned to love Tuvok and Neelix's friendship. I looked beyond the gimmick of 7 of 9 and I found a show that felt more like TNG than anything else being the brand.
Voyager would eventually replace TNG as my favorite series, after multiple watchings revealed the depth and nuances of their journey home.

Suffice it to say, by the time I got to the point of knowing every Voyager episode start to finish, I was needing a new Trek to get involved in.

So I turned to the only other option to me, as TOS just feels to campy compared to TNG. I tried my best to get into Enterprise. I really did.
I loved Quantum Leap so I figured Scott would make a great Captain and I was all set for a wonderful new adventure.

Sadly, it became apparent real quick, that each episode was going to be just one excuse after another to get the female Vulcan naked.
I must've tried 5 or 6 various episodes. In every single one the plot seemed to be building to the point of getting Archer and her alone long enough to have her find a way to get out of uniform. Really broke the show for me. Trying to sex up Trek just doesn't sit right.

Perhaps the show 'found it's niche' further into it's run. I never gave it another shot though. Maybe I should look into the later seasons?

So those in the know, does Enterprise ever break away from that sexual tension being the subplot in every episode mold and you know, actually have trek tales?
  15. Problem with that idea Tony is that it would eventually devolve into a formulaic 'Alien of the week' type show.

You mentioned not being held to continuity, which to me, means you might as well call the show SpaceTime. Why go through the hassle of securing the Trek ip and then disregard the brand?

The Federation doesn't have First Contact teams, like strike teams, as they simply don't have a need. By this point in time it's probably only 1 first contact a year, if that and those are handled by the crew that discovers them most often.

I can see the potential in your concept though, with a few alterations. Perhaps focus on various Terra Forming teams throughout the quadrant.
Though this could potentially suffer from 'The Heroes Fate' as I call it. Tim Kring's original plan for Heroes was to have it focus on a new group every season. After the huge success of the 1st season though the network forced him to retain the big new stars and well...

Maybe just have the main star be a vagabond of sorts, maybe an expert that hops from ship to ship, station to station, solving various dilemas and getting into trouble.

Edit to add: Bah, Arcana beat me to it.

We've got it pretty light here, by comparison.

Let strong characters and stories be the draw, not gimmicks.
So much this. Pull a TNG and keep it outside of any major networks hands as well! With a mature cast and fresh stories.

    SteelClaw -
I heard about the Starfleet Academey show pitched way back and always thought it would turn out to be Dawson's Creek in the future.
Your version is a bit more thought out though and actually sounds interesting. If they could keep it older, as in college age and have star trek type plots instead of melodrama, I could see it taking off.
  21. I don't think I've ever had to bother slotting EndReducers on any toon unless they have debuff toggles.

Stamina 3 slotted with SO's and I'm usually golden, even on Blasters...
Whatever bonus I get from Frankenslotting is just gravy.

(Then again I'm from the oldschool 1 acc 5 dam mindset still.)

  23. As an aside, I've got a character that has a powersuit that materializes around him in game. Best I could do was to have one costume be street clothes and another be the armor, the dimension shift costume change emote works best so far.
