Well, I wasn't as far off from it as I thought. I bought $50 of PP over the weekend. Didn't even consider the tokens I'd get. While looking over my alts I noticed the 3 unspent tokens.
Looking at the reward tier, I originally thought I'd have to fill Tier 9 before I could pick the Celestial gear. Once I had the tokens to start filling Tier 9 I actually read the info and it dawned on me that, if these slots are repeatable, that should mean I can skip them and get Celestial now...
I was very pleased to say the least! -
Quote:Oh, I wasn't really chiming in on the whole typo debate. The wrdos being out of sync yet easily read posts made me think of the 'Did you see' videos is all.Touche, but, no one's ever called me a jerk for typing at them in complete sentences.
Maybe they were thinking mean thoughts. But believe it or not, I can count the number of times on one hand when someone's come right out and asked "y r u doin that?" The first time it came up, I was honest: "I'm learning how to type." They seemed fine with the answer, and we got back to killing monsters.
It's just never turned into the big deal that this forum thread seems to illustrate.
I make typos in game constantly, though my most common one is capitalizing the first two letters, as my finger is slow to come off the shift key. REsulting in sentences looking like this.
I don't bother to correct that though. Usually the only time I bother to correct myself on typos is when it's so bad the word is nonsense.
I don't use shorthand, unless it's dire and in the heat of battle, Then I'll shorten as needed. -
Concerning the absence of Level Pacts.
Don't fret over it, back in the day level pacts were very advantageous, allowing you to stay close together for optimal teaming.
It's no longer needed really. With Super Sidekicking, you can always team up. You can exemp and still get XP, or you can make the higher level the lead and not worry about bridges etc.

The way I play my Beamer, I generally target a boss or Lt in the middle of the pack. Open up with Disintegrate, then hit them with my 1st two attacks, 9 times out of 10 the second attack triggers the spread.
As far as what the spread does, it varies based on which power causes it. Most all will add an Energy DoT to the target, Overcharge also increases stun mag, I think.
Disintegrate itself causes -Regen to the target.
I have no clue how enhancements factor in though. -
I'm not even sure I have a card 'on file' in regards to the store.
I have to enter the # for each purchase. I was low on my company card, which I'd been using for the sub, so when I went to buy more points I wanted to use my bank card. It let me without issue.
So, I tried using my card on my friends account. Making sure he didn't click the 'Save for use' box. Took it no problem. When he went back into the screen, the # was gone and he had to enter his.
Not sure if this is WAI or not though. -
I've been referring to it as Death trial, a lot of the returnees were thinking it was just the old low level sewer team runs, when calling it the sewer trial.
-
Changes seem very logical.
-
I just sat there and handed him $20 to replace the $20 he was using from his own bank account as he purchased the points. Also meant I got to walk him through the process in person.

Quote:Simple yes, SCR not withstanding, yet we've been shouting that to anyone that would listen since Beta and lo and behold here we are.Simple solution:
Let free players respond to tells, but not initiate them.
They seem content to pass off free trials as F2P just because you can go 1-50. The same restrictions used for free trials, can't be used for F2P.
All that does is make the ones that originally tried a trial and didn't stay to get miffed and leave again.
If we want to assimilate the true new, we have to be able to communicate with them in a reasonable fasion. All the restrictions do at this point is bred ill will, hurt our rep and widen further the increasing sense of 'Us Vs Them'. Don't give free players control of the airwaves but at least let them reply to us...
No RMT excuse can counter that, so the only reason the Dev's won't is either SCR or because they feel it's that big an enticement to pop $5 for points. I'm sorry but it's not an enticement, it's a barrier. Not only that, the majority of 'True new' won't even know how cheap it is and will no doubt leave long before finding out, we can't freely tell them either.
I understand fully that we aren't F2P. I understand the hybrid structure. Most free players could care less. They saw the words Free to Play and assumed the game was now micro-trans based ala Shaiya.
We technically have no 'Free Play' tier. It's misleading wording designed to be misleading.
We have 3 tiers.
ViP
Premium
Trial
The fact that you can now go from 1-50 doesn't make this more than a 'trial'. Not when you lock out everything else. For that matter, the old free trials actually had more, though you could only level to 14 you could use any AT. No, this game is not F2P. It's free to look around and let us twist your arm long enough to get, at the very least, 5 bucks from you. Then you'll be Premium and can actually play the game.. for free.
Sadly, I understand that we aren't F2P in the mainstream PoV. I do, but they don't. We could educate them on our hyrbid model. We could, but we aren't allowed to unless we're standing right next to them.

I like the look...
It just doesn't say 'Gunslinger' to me. More like Steampunk part deux.
That said, give me holsters and old west ponchos!!! -
Updating that I indeed went with WM/Shield and am loving it!
It's my new favorite at the moment! Has the powerful feel I was missing in other sets.
Thanks for the suggestions. -
Quote:Indeed. It's a merry go round of misconceptions. Here is the thing:
It doesn't matter.
Just for the sake of the argument, let's say that the camp that says, "Incarnates are part of GR" are right.
Nothing changes.
Everyone who bought GR still has the same access to Incarnates that they have always had, whether VIP (has a subscription) or Premium (needs a subscription).
The only people whose access has changed is people who never bought GR. Their situation has improved.
If you are saying that Incarnate content should NOT require a subscription, then that is a completely seperate argument.
If you are just trying to convince a bunch of people on the Internet that they are wrong, well, good luck. -
Sweet, I hoped it was that simple! Thanks Aggelakis

I've been loving the trial and using the Q is so simple and quick.
Tonight though I had a quandry. A rl friend joined me ingame and I wanted to run the trial with him. Problem was I had no clue how to start one without using the Q. I was afraid if we Q'd up seperately we could end up in different teams.
Question is, if I'm teamed with him and we join the Q just the 2 of us, will we automatically get put in the same group, or do we have to then manually fill out the rest before it will start? -

Quote:Might as well go ahead and delete that tab outright. That or rename it Spam. Trying to catch the one legitimate question in the flurry of junk isn't going to be feasible in a few days time.I have moved the Help channel to ONLY my Help tab... that way, when I feel in the mood to help folks out and answer questions, I switch to that tab, otherwise, I don't look at it.
I pay WAY more attention to the global channels for the various servers I play on. Also, I didn't get a chance to play yesterday, and likely won't tonight until like 8ish PM... I wonder how I will feel about the newcomers? -
Keep in mind that there are a myriad of factors at play here.
1. The i-Trial grindfest keeps people playing 50's instead of levelling alts = Less people in zones.
2. The ability to get to missions is much easier and faster now than it was before. With Ouro and mission tp's and revamping to cut down on travel time = Less people zooming around zones and spending more time hidden in instances
3. Yes, the game population is lower than it was in 2007. This is just a natural thing for an aging title. On top of that, those of us still here are pro's that know all the in and outs, cutting down on the 'standing around talking' crowds.
4. The EU/NA merge means more than a handful abandoned the server for busier pastures called Virtue and freedom.
That said, the advent of Freedom has seen the games population SWELL in recent weeks!! I mean bloat! I've seen more players gathered around Mrs. Liberty this week than I did all last year... combined. -
-
Quote:So far for me Freedom stands at;Helper title should be earned, but should also be very known among new players, so they can rely on the answers, telling people to go 'hunt fake nem in PI' if they ask where to go at 21, is just sad.
I probably gonna disable help on most of my toons, this aint what i wanted to see happening to 1 of the best communities out their, hell even Barren chat is more civilized.
Gained 1 returned friend. 1 brand new friend playing
Lost 2 potential returnees. Still trying to convince 1 other friend to 'give it a shot'.
The one friend that returned, he was a high enough tier to have everything he wanted, having played for 3 years off/on. Freedom impressed him so much he went ahead and resubbed AND plunked $15 on the store for bling!!!
The other one is in informational overload. Having never played an MMO before it's slow going, so the restrictions don't matter as much.
I really wish he had /Tells though, and ability to accept my dang influence trade...
Having to go all the way back to the core fundamentals for him, I mean core as in W is forward, Conning etc. Makes me realize just how complex our game has become over the years. We evolved with it so we take it for granted how daunting learning all this could be to new players.
We take it for granted.
Keep that in mind when arguing over the restrictions on true new. It's nearly impossible for us to grasp how daunting this game might seem to those unfamiliar with it. I'm overly emphasing that there isn't a rush, take your time so he doesn't get discouraged and go back to farmville. However, this is with a real life friend. Bridging the gap with complete strangers takes more.
We need more ways to assimilate the new players into out ranks Dev's. Get with marketing, do what you have to. You have a tremendous free resource in recruiting through us, the ViP's. Consider creation of a channel specifically for Free players, if nothing else it will ease the clutter on Help.
I understand that it only cost $5 to unlock these chat functions. I understand this but they do not. I have no easy way of communicating that fact to them either. If a $5 transaction could potentially cost my company $100's by 'turning them away at the door' then I'm going to waive that fee.
I'm not saying give them free reign over the air-waves either. Being able to /Tell and having a dedicated channel with the ability to accept trades would be more than enough!
Helper title is not only useless as it currently stands, it's actually dangerous. Help me should be avail to all at creation. Helper should be earned somehow, perhaps even monitored. I shudder at how many griefers are sporting Helper titles these days. -
I can't believe they made the Animal pack without including Apes...
We still need;
Primates
Turtles
Bears
Horse
Dragon
Make it so! -
*Slow dramatic clap*
Bravo on the trailer!! Love the reveal on the rooftop. Hehe...
Though it does make me miss the fast paced days of PvP from long ago. -
I was under the impression that it was at the individual Dev's discretion concerning personal account. Who knows though.
