Super power question

...which set grants me the Patience buff when it comes to returning and free players?

I am trying so hard to be helpful; I am always in the help channel, I am labeled as a Helper on every character, but man...

I have heard nonstop complaints. Yelling, cursing, you name it - everyone wants everything for nothing. I think the biggest issue screamed throughout the channels is the invention license.

...it just seems every person I have talked to has negative things to say about having to pay for entertainment. I honestly think I may jump to Exalted and wait it out a few months... it is THAT bad. I was really excited for new blood to constantly be around for teams/trials/whatever, but I had no idea the reaction would be this at all.

I don't mean to make this sound like a derogatory rant against the playerbase, honest. I just want to know if anyone else has tips on how to deal with the constant Paragon Studios bashing because it is honestly affecting my experience.

Unfortunately this is sort of endemic to the whole "free player" thing. You'll probably not meet a group with such an inflated sense of entitlement for a long while.


Don't sweat it, though. Just tell them they need to be at least tier 4 before you'll start caring.

I got on an played as normal. I was not even aware that free-to-play had started officially until coming to the boards.

Do you hang out on a streetcorner in Atlas or something?

The Help channel is a wretched hive of scum and villainy. I just remove it from my tabs.


All I noticed yesterday on Virtue was that Talos was nice and busy.

I have moved the Help channel to ONLY my Help tab... that way, when I feel in the mood to help folks out and answer questions, I switch to that tab, otherwise, I don't look at it.

I pay WAY more attention to the global channels for the various servers I play on. Also, I didn't get a chance to play yesterday, and likely won't tonight until like 8ish PM... I wonder how I will feel about the newcomers?

There's enough entitlement amongst the paying players, I can only imagine the level of entitlement coming from people playing for free who don't think they are getting what they deserve. For free.

I wonder if it has anything to do with what server you play on. Pinnacle, for the most part, seemed fairly normal. I saw a few help requests from what sounded like returning Premium players who were trying to remember how to do everything, but other than that, I did not see a whole lot of spam. Granted, it has not even been 24 hours yet, and I was in combat for most of the time I was on. So maybe I just haven't noticed?

But I hear ya, JayBoh. I can't say that I am the least bit surprised. We all have to remember that this new model has been ill-advertised for the past couple months as going "F2P" which for most gamers out there means something entirely different than our hybrid model. And I would bet money that only a small percentage of the Free and returning Premium players combined have read the side-by-side comparison of what they are actually getting.

Yeah it's pretty bad. I am serious though, I think when my wife isn't playing with me I will jump over to Exalted and wait it out.

I just ignore the players who are complaining about what they don't get. And post helpful messages in the help channel or broadcast about how to ignore somebody.

Precisely because I don't have any patience for entitled idiots.

I was on two servers last night, Liberty and Virtue, and didn't have any problems. There were more players out and about, but I didn't hear any griping, certainly not enough to distract me from what I was doing.

Did I hang out in the "help" channel or Atlas Park? Oh, hell no. That's just asking for trouble.

I had a feeling this would happen. I play some free social games and you should read their boards or fan sites about the cost of anything. Yes sometimes it sucks at the extra cost for a free game, but they are still a business.

Hopefully the big whiners will go away and others will see the benefit of going VIP, even if its for a few months at a time.
