  2. First, you're certainly not the only person that is bothered by outleveling things. It frequently bothers me, too.

As has been said, you can always turn off XP for stretches, as needed.

You can also adjust the difficulty down. While this might make it too easy to be fun/interesting/challenging, it also makes it award less XP. If you can find the low diff sweet spot just barely challenging enough to be interesting, but minimal XP gains, that also helps slow the rate at which you advance, without having to turn XP off altogether. I prefer turnig it off totally, myself, because then I can turn the Diff up and get more enemies, for more drops, and more challenge, without making the outleveling problem worse. And, as some of those levels, the extra drops are really nicely in demand, since people do tend to fly past some of those points.

Either way, sadly, once you pass something you're pretty much out of luck, except via ouroboros.

And, FYI, Hit Streak confirmed under the thread for today's (June 29) patch notes that the Auction House thing is a bug, and it will be addressed. But not today.

But, all the subcategories under attuned are AT specific as the only trade-able (sellable) attuned Enhancements previously were the ATEs. Clearly, this Universal Damage Enhancement doesn't belong under Scrappers (or Blasters, etc, etc) so as I said, the Auction House needs modification to allow it to be placed somewhere. The only place they *could* have been dropped without having to add a category would have been special. Yes, most ideally, a new subcategory under attuned is where they should go.

Sorry if I was unclear. I didn't mean to say I expected them to ultimately end up with the HamiOs.
  5. Looks-sounds-etc wise, the ATs won't really be much different, except Stalkers will all be sorta hidden-ish.

If you like elemental effects, Lightning and fire armour both look very cool, IMHO, and don't completely obscure your basic costume/look. Fire does obscure more than Elec, but not as bad as others (stone/ice, I'm looking at you mostly). Most of the non-elemental powers don't have much look at all, except for shield, then you just carry a shield around. So, if you like shields, will then, obviously, take shield. If not.. If elemental and shields are out, the most interesting of what's left, in my opinion, is Energy Aura. It has a cool, subtle little distortion effect going on that doesn't obscure you much at all when it's active. It does have a stealth power, that makes ya ghostly in appearance like all stealths do, though. But, of remaining options, I find Energy aura the most aesthetically interesting.

But, Bio Armour is coming soon...

For offensive sets... Jeez, too many choices..

Dual Blades: Is flashy and fun.

    Staff Melee: Ditto

Martial Arts: Is flashy, or not, depending on your desires, as it has multiple animation choices for almost every single power, more than any other offensive set I can think of. I recommend it highly since you can fine tune it more than any other melee set for aesthetics that appeal to you.

Street Justice: Looks like a poorer cousin to Martial Arts, visually, but isn't bad looking, just not customizable, and less flashy. Not knocking the set mechanically, just aesthetically. And not really knocking it on aesthetics, just giving it lower marks for aesthetics than MA. And if MA were less customizable, or SJ at all customizable, I'd prolly rank SJ above MA. Still, it's a solid option, better than most, IMHO.

Kinetic Melee: Awesome, flashy, fancy. And I love the sound effects, but I've heard many people say that the sound effects grate on them. To each their own, but I'd make this a top candidate.

All the elemental attacks have distinctive looks that appeal to some, and not so much to others. Dark melee seems the least interesting, to me of this category.

Most all the remaining weapon sets are pretty lame, and boring, sadly, with the exceptions of Katana/Ninja Blade/Titan Weapons.
Katana/Ninja Blade are different than the BS/WM/Ax trio, and thus a bit more interesting, but no great shakes, but not bad.
Titan Weapons is a lot different than most every other weapon set visually/auditorially. I personally think it looks goofy/bad, but it is unique, and lots of folks love it, so it's definitely worth your consideration.

I'm sure I've left some out, but that should give ya plenty of options to look into for now.

I just keep getting the same one. Clearly I need to run this more often.

Thanks for the replies! At least I know I'm not doing something wrong...
I know it's just how random chance seems to work, but of all the times I've run it, I've had that same piece you keep getting every time but once. And the one time I didn't get it, it wasn't the proc. Granted, my 10 times running it isn't a huge sample, but it's starting to seem like the specific pieces of this set might be individually weighted differently than each being 1 in 6...

As I understand it... They are supposed to be able to be bought/sold/traded via the Auction House. But the problem lies in the fact teh Auction House structure doesn't have a category to which a Universal Damage Enhancement falls, unless you want them not very intuitively lumped into the 'Special Enhancements' category, which is all Hamis, Synth Hamis and HydraOs. So the auction house needs a tweak for you to be able to sell them. With any luck, today's publish is taking care of that (and other) issues.

And, for the record, I've seen this issue come up here and there in other threads, but as far as I know, there is no thread entirely dedicated to the OverForce/AH issue itself. Probably because it's been presumed that it's a bug that will very soon be remedied.
  8. Since I can't find todays patch note yet, and assume that they just aren't up yet....

Does anyone know what was on todays publish?

Is it the attuning bug on these UEs? Is it the teleporting bug inside of the Summer Event mish? Is it the auction house being updated to allow folks to sell/trade the new UEs? Or is it something else entirely?

And, on a different topic (and overused refrain)..

Why is it not possible to through up the patch notes somewhere (anywhere) as the publish is is happening, while the servers are still down?

I mean, come on. It's bad enough that super-powered villain NPC's can't so much as snatch a purse without super-human resistance on the part of the citizens, or - heaven forbid - they should actually manage to break into those titanium-encrusted cars and buildings. Who needs heroes when a thug can't even pull a decent street misdemeanor in this town?

About the only NPC's in this game that DON'T need buffing are the citizens! They can jump any height and not take damage, can move even the heaviest hero aside without even lifting their heads long enough to say "excuse me" and can insta-placate any attacker by doing nothing more than waving their arms in the air and sprinting fifty yards in the opposite direction. And don't even get me started on their Longbow summoning power on Mayhem missions - where they ALSO don't take any damage! NERF CITIZENS!! BUFF ENEMY NPC's!!

........Oh dear. I've had too much coffee again, haven't I?
    ROTFL!!

If this is what happens when you've had too much coffee, by all means get another pot brewing...
  10. I just clicked on it every time I ran as the thief role. And it worked fine every time. And usually I clicked on it pretty much immediately, so I'm pretty sure I didn't have a triggering event that preceded and made it clickable, but I guess that's a possibility. If so, however, whomever unlocked it for me was a bloody fast.
  11. Hmm. Well, Strato, you've sorta convinced me. All your arguments make sense to me. Since I mostly play defenders, and probably won't ever be a blaster type, or rarely ever, it's not as big an issue to me, so I'm not going to get irked either way, but yeah, if I were a blaster player, a 'solution' that revolved around pretty much having to get a snipe and then build for plus tohit to leverage it certainly wouldn't feel like an elegant solutition. I would totally agree that snipes should be fixed to not be the obvious skippable power in every set, but going well past that to make it the central power in a set does seem sorta overboard.

Then again, it is still a single target attack, and CoH seems to be more built around AOE (or evolved into at least), so maybe it's not as big a deal as it seems on the surface.

Mostly, I'd agree with you. I'd put it in an AOE, too. Or a persistent ST attack. Tornado comes to mind. I think it's an AOE but it seems to mostly home in on one target, so I might put it in there to keep it more aggressively stuck to one target, as opposed to having it fling something out of the way then re-targeting..
  13. Well, I've played scads of Defs, but not many FFs. That said, my one FF I've put time into is into the mid 40s, and I have respeced and tried a number of different builds. Point is I'm no great authority, but not an armchair commentator, on this set, but I can offer my opinion.

I find Force Bubble pretty much better in every way, with perhaps 2 exceptions.

Force bubble is a lot cheaper on the endurance bar. It has a higher mag effect. It recharges faster. Costs a lot less end. Has a bigger area/repel distance. Casts faster, even.

Some folks think it might just be too big though. And Force bubble can't really be slotted anything, except Generic IO.

    I definitely wouldn't pack both.

  15. I'd give Thunderstikes a good look. Really solid set with nice damage, nice recharge, nice end reduction, and the set bonuses are pretty great, too. +Recovery, and + Def to ranged and E/N. Also, they aren't super expensive.
  16. Fun event, all in all.

I haven't had any issues with getting the whole team in, or getting stuck at any specific parts.

We all got all the Perfect Badges regardless of our own role. I think it seems to be team based. Not sure if it's WAI, but it seems fine to me.

And as for not being able to sell the UEs on Wents... I think that's because there isn't a category for it to be assigned to yet in Wents.. There are categories for the ATEs, but that's not exactly right. I guess it could be under 'special' enhancements, too, but that's not exactly intuitive, either. My guess is it'll stay non-sell-able until they decide how to categorize and and get a wents' patch added in.
  17. Dang. Very nice. You're right, not exactly a solo-er, but boy, everyone should love teaming with ya. Makes me wish I have more than just one or 2 lowbies on Infinity.
  18. The point is that they aren't changing the power. It's a proc. If you like Force Bolt as is, slot it as you normally would. If you'd prefer to keep knocking something down without flinging it all over the place, now you'll have that option, too.

I'm sure it's been stated, but my big question is.... Is that proc a unique? Or can it be slotted in multiple powers?

So yeah adios Time Crawl, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Yeah, -100 isn't stellar. Does it stack, though? I seem to recall time doesn't have much -regen at all available to it. If the duration is long, and it self stacks, it might (might!!) be worth it. But yeah, prolly best to say, "Ciao!"

This is a hovering toon with soft-capped ranged def, respectable psi mitigation, via def and resists (usually a huge gaping hole for Sonics) and hard-capped s/l resists.

There is more than one way to skin a cat and I have no doubt other builds shown have extreme survivability. Personally, this has proven to be my toughest squishy and would be in the upper tier of my non-squishies too.
I just wanted to comment here briefly to say... Dang, I wish I could make a decent hover build. Or rather, play a decent hover alt. I can't hover blast in the big huge outdoor maps, let alone council caves, etc... I just plain do not have the skill to make that work. So, if you ever see a build of mine, I probably totally disregarded the hover blast style as an option, out of hand, because of a player based limitation...

But it is a very effective approach, and is often easier to build for. So one should always keep hover builds in mind. Some power-sets work less effective with them, but some work better. So if you can do both, learn to pick and choose...

In general, this is my rule, too. However, Cardiac really does make it a non-issue. The thing to keep in mind, however, is how much you exempt below Incarnate powers levels, and which toggles you might lose access to (and therefore won't be running) when you do. I exemp a lot, and even more so on my 'fenders, so exempling is a BIG consideration for me... But if you don't, Cardiac makes a lot of shaky end builds very viable... And the slots not spent on end control are for sure spent elsewhere.. Having played it both ways on offenders, I feel it's all in what ya wanna do..

One thing to look at in particular that was not addressed is the end usage. When on teams you will be pushed particularly hard on end drain. Madadhs sample build is very nice in most respects and even addresses that issue pretty well, but it is something any Sonic/Sonic has to bear in mind while on teams. Cardiac Core is a very nice choice to help with this.

Another think I think is a good point for a Sonic/ build is that you have two long recharge get out of jail free cards to play. Liquefy is the one every talks about and they should, it's great. The other is Sonic Cage. It's a power you can get creative with and find some very good uses for. Solo you can Cage a boss, sleep with Siren's Song and single target most of the mob to great effect. On STF, I've been told it is useful on the pylons. It's another card that you can use to leverage your toughness and effectiveness.

The other useful tool left out in Madadh's build was Shockwave. I've left it out of my Sonic/Sonic, but if I were predominantly a solo player, I would have it in. The KB is a bit of a pain but can be worked around and it's great mitigation.

and personally, I would use hover over combat jumping (both ideally) as being above your prey is its own form of mitigation.

I agree totally. Feel slightly foolish I didn't, but am glad someone did. End drain for a sonic is pretty bad, and with the granted -res aura, can get downright brutal. Learn to toggle it, as needed. And pack some blues. Temping though it may be, don't withhold shields so as to lower the average health score so as to leverage the Def inherent, tho... (joking, mostly, though, I'm sure someone has done it). I'm pretty sure in the build I posted, I suggested Cardiac, but if I didn't, I should have. Cardiac was made for Sonic/ defs...

Sonic cage, too, I'm sorry I neglected to mention. It's a great power, but oh, so situational. For solo use, tho, spectacular. On the STF I prefer to see it used to neutralize LR while killing the pylons. Many uber-AVs are resistant to everything heavily except caging. It's nice to be able to just make LR 'go away for a while, and we'll get to you when we're ready and feel like it..' I'm sure with reative use there are plenty of spots where this power can shine, but it takes crafty thinking..

Personally, not a shockwave fan, but I admit, that it has it's uses, if you have the playstyle to get good mileage out of it. I often forget about it since I don't, but that doesn't make it a poor option. And I'd agree, if you plan to use it, hovering is a very nice way to go..
  25. In your spot, I'd be saying goodbye to Time Crawl. Only reservation I might have, is that I seem to recall it also has some -regen component. Not sure, but if it does, and if it's amount isn't tiny, I might be tempted to keep it. Otherwise, "Adios, TC."

Now if I strip the slots from Thunderstrike (or just switch it for Electric Fence which has some utility even unslotted) I could drop one of my other unslotted powers for Zapp. Ok options are Combat Jumping, Vengeance, Temporal Selection or Time Crawl. But I like all of those. Temporal Selection is the one I least care for mostly because I rarely remember to use it (and it always seems kinda meh on large leagues) but I'd feel bad skipping it. Vengeance is skippable but then something else gets moved to level 49. Combat Jumping isn't an option (I love the mobility it provides). Maybe I'll just drop Time Crawl, I don't use it a whole lot anyway (I tend to just stack Shocking Bolt and Time Stop to hold bosses).
