  1. Ended up soloing a Nemesis mission yesterday. Every room had a Fake Nemesis twinned with a void stalker. I've never been glad I created a tri-form PB before but I was in and out of those 3 forms throughout the mission.

There were some choice words floating around while I was doing that. The mission description said Nemesis would pull out all the stops but a void stalker in every room is a bit over the top in my opinion, especially when it gets a nice bubble shield from the fake nemesis...

    Empath Defenders

My empath has a dark secondary which gives her very nice snipe and debuffs at low level. She can solo a little easier than most other empaths but it's still slow and she has to be very careful.

Course slotting attacks in your secondary means you have less slots available to your primary for healing and buffs...always a compromise in what empaths are really here for if you want to solo a bit as well. There are never enough slots to go round
  3. Yep, well done everyone...and thanks to Carnifax for organising it all

A lot of players feel safer with enemies who can't hit/hurt them rather than leave their health in the hands of an empath.

    [/ QUOTE ]

With healing, that damage has to have already been done and if the healer isn't on the ball, it's easy to get overwhelmed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Also needs other members of the team to remember that healers can't heal through walls and around corners and can't be in more than one place at a time. Doing damage is a team effort, so is staying alive

I'm always pelased to see any defender or controller on a team, makes things so much easier and safer (and more fun) for everybody.

Nope, up to my ears in the psychos

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um...got anyone in particular in mind?

  6. AR is now a very poor choice of power pool unfortunately (in my opinion). My only lvl 50 is an AR/Dev blaster who was hit so hard by ED that she's really no fun to play any more.

There are too many compromises and with AR they all result in a reduction of a key aspect of the AT that wrecks it. You either have very little accuracy, very little damage or very little endurance or you split your slots for two enhancements of each type and are then hopeless at everything.

Would I roll another AR balster? Not on your life, unless they make huge changes to give it a chance of actually being a blaster again.

    Stamina or not?

At the moment my PB is tri-form. I don't have stamina, that means I simply can't stay in human form in a fight for long without some endurance buffs of some sort. Chain half a dozen attacks together and endurance is gone, it's quite remarkable how fast it goes. It is fun though, the damage is phenomenal against the right targets.

In nova form I have to be spamming attacks constantly to the point of boredom to see a serious drop in endurance.

Dwarf form is fairly endurance heavy but nowhere on the scale of human form.

Really it's your choice. I tend to stay in human form if there is someone delivering endurance buffs on the team. If not, I switch to human or dwarf form for particularly nasty targets but stay mostly in nova form for the cannon fodder.

Personally, I'd say, if you intend to use human form a lot, you'll need stamina at some point.

    P.S. Yes soloing is hard....

    [/ QUOTE ]

Especially when your empath is still at lvl 7 and gets a mission to take on groups of CoT in Perez.

Stroll into Perez...take one look at all those brightly coloured mages...turn tail and retreat back to Atlas.

Then of course she takes a trip to Kings Row and gets a mission to...take on groups of CoT in Kings Row Not so many mages thankfully but seriously...why do all my contacts have to try to get me killed? One day I'm going to to tell them to do their own dirty work...
  9. [ QUOTE ]
what happens to you guys when you get to level 40+ do you get powers or just constant slots?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Same as any other AT. Only thing is, you'll have so many powers to choose from by then that you really *have* to use binds to change power slots around. If you went tri-form it becomes a nightmare of complexity...lots of fun though.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
An empath has to team, too, and i don't see any whining about it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Empaths are support AT's, looks as if stalkers will be soon as well.
  11. Doesn't surprise me in the least. Just makes the stalker the slowest AT for missions by far. Since I don't PvP with mine I'll probably delete it and use the slot for something that has a scrap of fun left in it.
  12. Nuke ready..I'm going in chaps.

    Oh wait...forget that, I don't have one.

<slings assault rifle back over shoulder and retreats, red faced, to the back of the team>
  13. Fingers crossed for a speedy PC recovery...

Otherwise give it a hefty kick...may not help the PC but it might make you feel a bit better

    Anyway..see you soon, hopefully

I find Kheldians great in a team but completely helpless solo in some situations. Mine died 5 times trying to solo a mission today before I gave up. Was CoT but a void stalker made it impossible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My PB's pretty good at team and soloing, even with CoT. Voids can be a pain in the [censored] but as long as you're quick on your feet, have a load of Respites and get the void before it gets you then you'll survive the battles.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That was my plan but the CoT plus void made it really tough. Too tough as it turned out. I told them I'd be back but it sounded a bit hollow as I left with my tail between my legs.

    [ QUOTE ]

(Also it helps at lvl 35 when you get your self rez )

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't take self rez, wish I had. Definately have to take a serious look at that next time I get a power.

Srangely enough I've faceplanted more from 35-38 than I did all the way to 35. Could be because I changed tactics from simply blasting from a great height and decided to change her build towards tri-form. Not sure if that was such a great idea but it does give me some flexibility.

Bit of a jack of all trades but still fun in spite of the endless voids
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Trapped in quicksand? Isn't that what dwarf step is for?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes but you need time to activate it, tp isn't exactly instantaneous. I was overwhelmed in that situation, more CoT than I originally thought and the void was the icing on the cake. Having said that, even when I knew the size of the group I couldn't get around it. Have gained a level now though...ready to try again
  16. I find Kheldians great in a team but completely helpless solo in some situations. Mine died 5 times trying to solo a mission today before I gave up. Was CoT but a void stalker made it impossible.

<ul type="square"> [*]Tried nova form, got mezzed by the CoT then one shotted by void. [*]Tried dwarf, got trapped in quicksand then two shotted by void. [*]Tried human, got mezzed then one shotted by void. [*]Tried combinations of the above, managed to thin out the CoT a little by pulling but but a void stalker plus CoT is lethal. [/list]I'll leave that one till I have a team, that's the only mission my PB has had that she just couldn't solo when any other AT would have managed. They are just far too weak to void attacks...bit of a let down for a supposedly epic AT to be honest.

I play mine because it's a nice change after the other AT's but don't expect anything "epic" from your Kheldian. In my opinion, the powers they have don't really compensate for the weakness to those voids/quantums which appear in every single mission that you take on with your PB or WS.

Having said that, they are fun to play in a team so I'd say they are worth persevering with. It won't be an easy ride though, especially if you find yourself soloing for any length of time.
  17. Strange this. When I'm playing my Kheldians I never notice the sound effects. I teamed with a WS yesterday with my defender and thought the noise was horrendous

I forgive them the noise though, their flexibility makes up for that particular shortcoming
  18. [ QUOTE ]
do what the Defenders do: ignore it. You can get by without your inherent just fine.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's just what I do. If my health is so low that defiance kicks in the last thing I want to be doing is shooting at things. How fast can you say 'faceplant'?
  19. [ QUOTE ]
and then there is the running away...
    PVP = Player versus Player?
then why is 90% always running away?!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ever heard of a tactical withdrawal? Only idiots safe and sound at home insist that their soldiers fight to the last man and the last bullet. Do you honestly think any empath is just going to stand there and get beaten up by a stalker?

    [ QUOTE ]

i think this is because of peeps being overpowerd by lvl50 toons fully slotted[so its no use to enter pvp now wen u dont got a lvl50 toon]

    [/ QUOTE ]
Don't make the mistake of assuming that everybody thinks the way you do. I have no interest in PvP, this was one reason I chose this game, there wasn't any back then. It's since arrived and bought with it all the associated problems that other games with PvP have...

Having said that I could be tempted to poke my nose into a PvP zone again one day...have to wait and see though. At present it's a non-starter for me, don't have time to mess around learning a whole new game which is what i suspect PvP is.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
The only rules I have are "no travel powers", "limit stealth" for the tournament and "no Kheldians" (lvl 50s are welcome though)

    [/ QUOTE ]

No Kheldians unless they've reached level 50?

    *runs and hides*
  21. Good plan with the mines and things but it wouldn't work for me. I just don't have that much patience

Unless I'm on a mission where I *have* to kill something, if it'll take more than a few minutes I'll just move on and find something else to do.

i can comfortably solo on invincible, i have a stupid amount of ways of going about things being AR/DEV/MUN and no body armour neither, i love my beanbag, my cryo freeze ray, my sleep grenade, my turret, my timebomb, my trip mines...but i will admit some enemies take a serious amount of damage to put down and can be a challenge ie paragon protectors.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Colour me impressed. I'd consider Invincible to be tantamount to suicide for my AR/Dev. Mezzers will get me every time. Guess I suck.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Me too. Guess I'm just hopeless at this game. Can solo my MM on the toughest setting (forget what it is over on CoV now) but soloing my AR/Dev blaster is just so boring and unrewarding (not to mention suicidal) now that I've just given up on her. Luckily I got her to 50 just before ED hit so there's no real reason to keep on with it.
  23. Auto turret is useful in a long fight to dsitract things. Doesn't do a lot of damage. Sort of like a stationary pet if you like. It would be a lot more useful if it could sprout wheels or legs and follow you around like other pets but there you go.

    Quantum flight

Yep, our 'epic' AT's really aren't that epic. Guess they didn't want to unbalance the game with super AT's. To hell with fun, keep them grinding...
  25. My human does so little damage in comparison with my nova that I decided to go tri-form. Probably not going to excel at anything but got plenty of options.

My greatest memory of seeing Kheldians used in human form is of virtually instant faceplanting...though maybe I've been playing with suicidal ones
