    Need a new PC?

Doesn't work for me, get an 'object error' on the entry page.

    ---------------

hmm, eventually managed to get the entry in by using a different PC which is very odd considering they're both largely identical...

    oh well, good luck everyone

    Archery Blaster

I have stealth, I'll see what I can do about the range...
  3. LunaWisp

    Gun Drone

Not tried it. I specced the auto turret out of Calamity's build, it was pretty useless. Took *ages* to set up during which a sparrow farting in the field next door interrupted you. It stayed where it was, did hardly any damage, couldn't take any damage and only lasted a short while. I'll give it a try on test but unless a significant number of those drawbacks have been resolved, I'm not wasting an hour respeccing for it...

    Archery Blaster

I like my archery blaster. Only problem with it is the *enormous* activation time for rain of arrows. If you fire it after your team has started a fight, the mobs are dead before your attack does any damage. If you activate it before the team moves in, the mobs react long before they take any damage and you take the alpha strike - I've actually been dead before my arrows have hit the ground on some occasions. Guess that's the penalty for such a powerful AoE attack - it's nearly useless in teams

Yes, Voids/Quant/Cysts are a real pain in the early level, but fear not this changes soon enough!

From about 21 on, when you put some defence slots in Dwarf, these get much easier!

I've a Level 50 PB & a 22 WS, my PB can walk up to a Void/Quant & stand there laughing at him while they attemp to scratch me Cysts are a bit tougher, but remember Dwarf form has one of the highest defences in the game against them. Teams panic at early levels if they see a Cyst, at later levels they are a fun change of enemy

It is worth your while getting a PB/WS to the higher levels. PB's tend to be easier at lower levels, but WS tend to be stronger at higher levels.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is my second PB. To be honest I think I'm making life more difficult for myself with this one than is really necessary. Didn't have too many difficulties getting Luna Wisp to lvl 50 but the new one is a pain so far. Possibly because I decided to ignore Nova Form and she has few useful powers in human form at the moment

Just met a void seeker. First hit took 40% (ish) of my health and knocked me down. I got up and started to run back to the lifts, second hit took me down to about 5% of my health and knocked me down again. Was close enough to the lift to get down a floor before the third hit...luckily. Not a hope in hell of getting past that at the moment. Are void seekers really necessary at level 8? Grr...

  6. [ QUOTE ]
Low level invites have been fine for me so far.

I just go to the Hollows, fly out above one of the big spawns within view of Wincott, annihilate it from above in nova form then wait for the "OMG SQUID!" invites to come in :-)

    spidermonster.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can't. I just created a new PB and decided to avoid nova form altogether.

Those damn quantums are ridiculously overpowered for Kheldians at low levels though. My experience in the missions I've done so far have been them hitting with every attack, every attack knocking me down and unless I'm lucky enough to be able to hit them before they see me, it's a frustrating waste of time facing them. It's not funny facing 2 +1 leiutenance plus a quantum at single number levels on the easiest setting. Methinks there's something awry with the difficulty settings in this game...

Having got all that off my chest, I still enjoy playing the PB's, not so keen on WS's though. Just a personal preference I guess.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
could you not set up a death trap round a corner and then pull your foes onto it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can do that if you're soloing. If you try to take the time to do that in a team you'll find you have a lovely little minefield set up with nothing to pull onto it. In the time it takes to set up your mines, the rest of the team has finished off the group of mobs you were looking at and moved onto the next group.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Can anyone say FOR SURE that you can't us Recall Friend on your Auto Turret?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You used to be able to teleport the turret. You can't any more, no guessing there, it's just not possible now.

To me that makes it largely useless, I respecced it out, couldn't imagine a situation where I'd have a week of uninterrupted time to set up a turret which would fire off half a dozen shots before being rendered useless by the fight moving on. You can do more damage just using your normal attacks for the time it takes to set up the turret than your turret will do in the time it survives (does that make sense?).

Malta engineers set up their turrets in a tiny fraction of the time it takes us, and they do it under attack, and their turrets are a higher level than them. Our turrets are a pathetic waste of space (all in my most humble opinion of course).

    Must we herd?

    [ QUOTE ]
I find constant herding tedious as a squishy. Its just so dull sitting there whilest the Tank issues orders.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When I'm on my fire/rad controller I find it quite difficult to stand around while the tank does his thing. I'm used to jumping straight in and stunning/suffocating the mobs, a few seconds after I've jumped in, the imps follow and finish them off. Standing around for a tank is something that needs a real effort to do...
  10. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
My first defender was an emp/rad and I got sick of the constant moaning that I "let" other players die and the expectations that I should apparently only use the emp side. I deleted her at 12 and made a rad/rad instead which is much more fun and there is a little less expectation of.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've experienced similar things. One particular player implied I was intentionally letting them die. He would run off into great crowds of enemies and generally bite off more than he could chew thinking he was some godly tank (he was a peacebringer, and while not a terrible tanker replacement, we had one on the team who could withstand a LOT more pummelling). After a while he brought in a 3rd defender who had exemped down from lvl 50 and was obviously so amazing that he got all the praise despite the fact the death toll hadn't changed much.

Anyway that sort of attitude annoys me the most, so I put my defender on hiatus until I can figure out if I really want to continue fighting alongside players who see you as nothing more than their personal slave. Would it kill people to have a little caution sometimes? We're healers, not miracle workers!

    [/ QUOTE ]

People need to remember that the defender needs line of sight to heal as well. They have a habit of dodging around corners then screaming for a heal or running off into the distance on their own (my defender always stayed with the bulk of the team unless we'd made other arrangements beforehand). I've given up on my empath for the last time. I'm not taking the blame for other peoples stupidity any more...

Apologies to the person who sent Pixie Dee a tell yesterday, you didn't get an answer because I was just logging out to delete her...
  11. They're as thick as a plank as well. They go dashing off at the faintest whiff of a new fight leaving you stranded with a badly singed and very angry mob...

    We rule

    [ QUOTE ]
Playing a stalker, is very much like making love to a beautiful woman...

    [/ QUOTE ]

hmm, well playing a stalker is fun but not THAT much fun
  13. LunaWisp

    Kheldian naming?

I have so many problems find names for any toon these days. With the number of slots we have per account, it's a problem that's going to get worse. Sort of a nice problem to have though, plenty of people playing the game and we all have lots of slots to play with

My PB is called Luna Wisp, because she's bright like the moon (on a good night) and wispy when she's flying around.

Called my WS Helena Megaera. Megaera being one of the Furies and Helena just being a nice name
  14. [ QUOTE ]
In a good team the damage is awsome, solo is quite doable but very depending on secondairy. (i havent tested /devs, but i asume the balance comes in the mines and that turret).

    [/ QUOTE ]

AR's not bad, personally I don't think it works too well with the dev secondary. You get no build up or aim, you do get the targetting drone though which saves on accuracy slots if you want to risk it dropping when a sparrow farts in the field next door.

Mines are very useful, my AR/Dev blaster would be lost without them though it takes ages to lay a half decent minefield and teams don't usually want to wait...not a problem if you're soloing of course.

The turret I find completely useless - it's a stationary uncontrollable pet which can't be tp'd and does hardly any damage. Makes a reasonable distraction but no use to me.
  15. woohoo congrats Sorry I missed it...
  16. You could run a stamina-less build but you'd have to slot heavily for endurance reduction and I think it would be pretty frustrating. Also bear in mind that without stamina, your endurance recovery will be sluggish, one hit from a sapper and you'll be a sitting duck.
  17. The only drawback with relying on siphon powers exclusively is that they have a 'hit check' and if you have to cross a high (for you) level area and your siphon speed misses, you have a very angry gang of purple nasties on your tail with no way of outrunning them. Remember to add some accuracy enhancements!

    Paladins

    [ QUOTE ]
He always seems to spawn at that big pit near the Galaxy City entrance...so far I have killled Paladin 10 times and I have Knight Errant badge. Any chance Cryptic can make a few more spawn points for him?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They don't spawn there, they spawn at the three correct points but go walkabout and end up stuck in the gulley near the Galaxy exit.

If there was some reward for risking life and limb against those things they wouldn't be there all the time. There's just no point killing a paladin though, you get more exp taking on a few minions and it takes a tiny fraction of the time.
  19. I have one of each

My necro/poison mastermind was so easy to play it was almost ridiculous. Your pets have access to most of the dark set of control/damage powers so they can hold/fear/heal/etc. My MM's poison secondary gave her holds and heals to supplement the pets and to cap it all she has a set of debuffs too. Being able to heal your pets and having pets that heal each other makes you a very strong force to be reckoned with in PvE, no idea about PvP, never tried that but strong pets could be disastrous if turned against you! You can push your dark pets around if they get in your way.

The thugs mastermind is a completely different kettle of fish. They have no holds but get the occasional stun in. You'll have an arsonist who is the kamikaze of the team, typical fire blaster! Until you get to lvl 32 and can give your thugs something useful to fight with it'll be a bit of s struggle, certainly more of a challenge than the necro set. For some reason you can't push thugs around so if they stand in a doorway you'll have to find some other way to get past or get them to move. There's a total lack of respect from those thugs I think

It's all down to your personal play style really. I like masterminds and could quite easily have half a dozen (if I had the slots free). My favourite so far has been the necro/poison, it's a sight to behold as they tear into a group of mobs.
  20. The ridiculous endurance drain and the void stalkers/slayers/etc. seem to be the devs idea of a challenge for this AT. I have exactly the same problem with my PB. If I want to fight in human form, she has to rest after every fight. If a sapper sees you first you might as well just turn tail. That's not so much a challenge as pure frustration.

Unless you slot every attack with endurance reduction as well as having a 3 slotted stamina you'll be in the same situation. Back to ED again I'm afraid, it hit some AT's far harder than others.

It's unlikely that I'll delete my PB having struggled to get her to 50 but I certainly won't be rolling a new one. It's just not worth the aggravation...all in my most humble opinion of course.
  21. If you don't like it, delete it. I would never keep a character I didn't like. What's the point? Only one I don't play much but won't delete is Calamity. She was my first lvl 50 and has some sentimental value. Other than that, I'll only keep a toon if it's useful and fun to play.

Has to be said that I like my scrapper, never been too fond of melee toons but she works well, BS/regen. Don't know about tankers, that's one AT I have never managed to get to work convincingly. Probably just my play style though.

    /Fire Questions

Hot Feet is great for a controller who can lock the mobs in place. Blasters don't have that luxury and, though hot feet slows the mobs down, they'll still run away as soon as they realise what's going on. It's damage over time and lets face it, that's not a blasters forte.

Wouldn't be without it on my controller. Still in two minds for my blaster.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
come on now, he did say he hadn't thought it through, and he wasn't kidding

Not sure an inherant that boosts damage is really what blasters need at all tbh. Lack of damage has never exactly been a failing, more like lack of defence, mitigation, endurance etc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lack of damage has certainly been an issue for some blasters since ED (yay, got my mention of ED in for this week ). My scrapper can easily out damage my blaster and has more defence and more hit points to boot. The only thing my blaster has that my scrapper doesn't is ranged attacks but their damage is low and mobs very quickly cover the ground to get within melee range anyway. Even a snipe hardly affects the average minion (apart from making it very angry) unless it's a lower level than the blaster.

I just created a new blaster with a fire primary, the difference between that and my AR primary blaster is astounding. The fire blaster can kill bunches of mobs with ease that the AR blaster wouldn't even contemplate. Something needs to be done to bring power sets more into line with each other damage wise. AR is poor at the moment.
  24. Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say almost everybody thinks defiance is next to useless. I believe it is but that's probably dowen to my play style. I like to stay healthy and alive as long as possible, I'll retreat rather than face plant. To use defiance you need to be as good as dead.

I have never, ever, seen defiance add anything to my attack without me faceplanting a few moments later. To me that makes it nothing more than a last gasp revenge type attack - you hope that when you die you'll take your evemy with you.
