  1. Drops in that pool are determined by the level of the mob, not the level of the player. For good reason.

Low level mobs are easy. E-A-S-Y Particularly when exemplared. With powers at +5 levels and now several set bonuses that do not go away regardless of your level, Exemplaring downward is nowhere near the challenge of fighting things near your level.

There are enough rewards for exemplaring, there doesn't need to be one that would be so amazingly abusable as this one.
  2. Yes I see that now. I admit I was skimming because I'm bouncing through several pages of browsing and a chat convo at the same time. My bad.

I'll counter that with a Plant Controller using Seeds of Confusion and his AoE immob. I'm sorry that my set's pretty standard tactic trumps your pretty standard tactic, and when I'm on a team with an Ice, I'll try to avoid the immob. However there's no arguing that an AoE immob is one of the best sources of damage available to a Controller (Plant's in particular). I'm not about to give up that damage without a really good reason. (and I wouldnt favor removing the KB from the power, because it's already been gutted when it was made Ground Only, and I really LIKE a power that keeps things tightly grouped for AoEs)
  4. Hey I can see Chibi's ***!

PS- Awesome raid, can't wait for the next one.

  6. And so really, bringing up I17, did mean a delay to GR, but only a teeny one, and even then that's probably got more to do with something(s) they added.

I think most companies would be pretty happy with a product that was a little bit late if said product ended up delivering on more than they originally intended.

Which any reasonable person would know doesn't mean specifically GR. Yes GR was the keynote aspect of the Convention. Yes, a lot of the information drop had to do with GR. But not everything, and there were a ton of other panels and groups where tidbits were dropped over the course of the weekend that had nothing to do with GR.

You may think it was a good thing to assume, but even I as a person who wasn't there made very careful checks on what was mentioned for GR and what was mentioned for the future of the game as a whole.

Besides as I said in my full post, launching an expansion and leaving off the latter portion of it so that there's more time to polish it before the playerbase actually needs it, is typical of this dev team. If I were to look at history and not have the info I had other than the fact that there was an expansion and post 50 content, I'd actually quite quickly assume that only the first part of it was going to be launched right away.

here's the key of it for me. Who exactly led you to believe this? Was there some email or press release none of the rest of us saw? Or was it just that you gathered pieces of info from various sources over the course of weeks and months, and came to an erroneous conclusion because you got things mixed up and misremembered?

May 11th 2009 - E-mails announcing Going Rogue are sent out to players, mentioning only the GR system and Praetoria - no mention is made at all of ultra mode or endgame content.

May 12th 2009 - NCSoft puts out a press release about GR - more info on Praetoria is given, along with details about Desdemona and Maelstrom.
Still not a single word about graphics or endgame content.

June 19th 2009 - Positron confirms that I16 will not be GR.

July 13th 2009 - Positron announces Duel Pistols and Demon Summoning will be in GR.
Still no word on any endgame content.

October 24th 2009 - Massive new amounts of info on GR announced at Hero Con - lots of Praetorian info, and a first look at ultra mode.
Ultra mode is announced as part of GR, with no new Issue planned until the release of GR, but the devs also say that if the graphics are ready first, they might be able to make them into a separate pre-GR Issue.
Still no word on any endgame content.

February 18th 2010 - Issue 17 is announed. Ultra mode will now be a separate feature from GR.

March 2nd 2010 - The GR prepurchase program goes live.

March 27th 2010 - At PAX East, I19 is announced, with an outline of the new endgame system.

The two stand out things here are first, ultra mode was already announced as part of I17 before the prepurchase program began, and, second, endgame content has never been promised, or even talked about, as a part of GR.
The only thing I'll disagree with is that "post 50 advancement" was indeed mentioned at HeroCon, but nothing more than that was said about it. Anyone assuming that meant it was part of GR was doing just that, making an assumption.

    - Wait until 4th quarter 2010 to get the remaining 9 levels and the new endgame system and perhaps another high-level zone (but only if we buy GR 3 months earlier).

And in the meanwhile, Ultra mode which was flagged for retail is now free. And in its place comes an awful lot of last minute bait and switch improvements.

My question is: why? Why not just package it together in one retail expansion and let players enjoy? The way its all piecemealed out now, players might as well wait until 4th quarter to get Going Rogue and enjoy it all in one go rather then buying in now and waiting 9 months to get the full product?

This just seems like a really weird business model somehow... What's the logic behind it again?
I think a better question is, why are you lumping a lot of things announced at Hero Con, into Going Rogue? Not everything you mention was specifically listed as part of GR.

As for I17 and Ultra mode, it exists because the devs heard people when they told them that over half a year was kinda a long dry spell between issues. Since UM was going to be an upgrade for the game as a whole there's no reason not to make it part of a free update if it's ready for prime time earlier. They even said as much at Hero Con. In other words, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

As for I19 and the rest of the post 50 system? A) they never said we'd get the entire system in GR, just a new way to develop our 50s (which is what we get). I19 is just the expansion of that system to its fullest, kind of like releasing the last 10 levels of Hero and Villain in a FREE ISSUE a few months after release. Do you know how long those levels are going to take? I don't. There's no reason to expect we'll even need them before I19 a few months later.

Everyone got 2 free ones with I12 (this should apply to newer accounts as well)
As far as I know, that was a limited time bonus.
  12. They give warnings whenever they plan to run the script or at least they said they would. However names that went Unreserved then would still be Unreserved now.
  13. Short Answer: They've already done this.

Longer Answer: It was even more in favor of the new person than your version. When they ran the script, any names on accounts inactive more than 90 days and less than level 35 (I think) became Unreserved. If you reactivated and no one had taken the name in the meantime, it was still your's. If anyone wanted it while you were inactive, they got it.

Here's the kicker- very few of the Unreserved names got picked. How do we know? They tracked them, and then later told us that it was only a small percentage of the very large number of freed names.

Conclusion- at the end of the day running the script again probably wouldn't go a long way to solving your issue.

Maybe if another game tries to implement this the devs will be forced to do it too
Other games have it or things like it. However your logic in thinking we're getting Power Customization because other games did it is flawed. It's something they've been trying to do in one way or another since before CoV. Hell it's something our players have been begging for since launch.

The fact that it finally came around the same time as CO is a coincidence that has a lot more to do with the timing of the buyout and the increased development budget than anything that was happening in another game.

Technically speaking, Pinnacle Cup conflicts with the raid, since they decided on the date and time nearly a month ago.

Presumably you changed to Freedom for a certain perceived upside. That doesn't mean everything is going to be better. Some things are worse. This is what we call a choice.

To be fair I've often "teleported" the hard way.

Here's the thing. Everything after you hit the self destruct button is just animation. You're already dead, and the determinations about who gets hit and who doesn't have already been made.

There's no need to allow people to move around, because your fate is predetermined.
  21. There are a lot of things they ask if you're sure about.

As for price, how am I or you or anyone except the people who do the work qualified to judge that?

All I'm proposing is the option. The rest is up to them, I won't pretend I know how hard or easy it is.
  22. All "modern" (I5 and beyond) are designed around roughly the same standard, and that's a standard they came up with after researching what a player's average playtime is.

After the first rounds of long TFs, it became clear that people really didn't plan or even like making extensive use of the fact that you can stop a TF and pick it up later.

Longer TFs wouldn't be an issue, if they came up with a quicker way to form teams. As it stands, a big chunk of time comes just getting people together. Unless you have good timing and a busy global channel, the process usually takes 30minutes if not longer.
  23. As it stands now, if you put extra slots on a server, that's where they stay. I think it would be nice to have an option to move your extra slots along with a character, if you want.

*extra slots being any you redeemed above the initial 12.

Agreed. For every name someone can't get because someone else has it, I wager there are at least two awesome ones people get because someone else gives them up.

Whenever this comes up, I'll always remember what happened the last time they ran the name purge. They actually kept track of the names that went Unreserved, and SURPRISE almost no one took them.

There are less people playing now than there were back when that happened (that was after our high water mark of over 200k). Overall less need for names. Also less likelihood that a name would be taken.

Your proposal only solves a limited issue on a couple of servers. It's most assuredly not a problem game wide.
