Quote:With Domination, your duration is going to be more than long enough, and there are solid Acc bonuses built into many IO mezz sets.I'll probably also go with Nerve Radial Total Revamp to get the added Acc/Hold/Confuse/Def.
Get Musculature, and any sacrifices you may have made in damage slotting to get more Recharge will be more than compensated for. All my attacks are over 100% damage enhancement and things just melt. Minions and Lts are often gone before I even complete a single attack chain. Bosses follow quickly afterward with my pet and melee attacks. -
Quote:This is actually on the edge of one of my biggest peeves with the costume system. Texture and Color inconsistency. If you look at the whole array of parts, there are actually nearly a half dozen different "metallic" sheens done at different times and in different ways (and that's not even counting some of the NPC used metal looks that we flat out don't have *cough* Nemesis). Since they were done differently, they tend to not look good together, and they tend to end up with markedly different color palette ranges.Frankly, I hate the way the uber-shininess looks on some pieces (Tech Sleek, I believe, is the one I'm thinking of. if I could just get back the not-so-shiny... the really reflective version tends to look worse, IMHO.)
It would make my year if they went back to ALL the metal pieces in the game and re did the metallic portions. Not only that, if they re-did them in Matte, Shiny, and Rusty/Abused, and left in a Legacy version, it would be like they gave us a whole new range of all new pieces.
It's something I'm hoping to make them understand someday. They could get a huge amount of mileage out of the hours it takes them to look at all the old pieces and apply some new tricks in a comprehensive and consistent fashion.
I know it's apparently difficult for them to go back and edit things done in the older versions of their software, and from experience I know it's difficult to replicate and/or modify the work someone else did when you don't have them to consult because they're not with the company any more. In the end I accept that my desire probably isn't realistic. However, I still think it would make a lot of people pretty happy. -
Quote:Here's an obscure pick that hits this note for me.What I'm most interested to find out from you guys is which characters' outfits do the best job of portraying the character's story visually. (I.e., you take one look at the character and can tell what their 'deal' is) or, alternatively, which visuals are just really appealing, regardless of story considerations.
Veluta Lunata and Marco. There's literally nothing special about them from a design point of view, but a not run of the mill widow with a ghostly soldier standing next to her says something that most contacts standing on their own don't.
It's a real downside to our game that most contacts are out on the streets divorced of a lot of setting that would give them a visual sense of story and place. Sometimes all it takes though is having a servant/minion/friend next to them to help define a relationship. -
Fusion/Fusionette and Jim/Jane Temblor are the opposite sex, and this is the detail that bugs you?
Chalk it up to "just one of those things" -
Not working sometimes is not the same as not working at all, which is what you oh so condescendingly were telling people. So yeah, it was lol to see you be so very convinced you were right when you weren't.

There's no way to list who has been inactive for how long. There's no way to predict who would be hit when we purged. There's also no output when the command is run to show the names that were removed.
Sorry, it's just a player run channel and it's easy to get back in and get unsilenced (unless you are on our naughty list). With the threshold for re-entry so low I don't see much reason to come up with a way to list the people who did get purged. Besides, that was the first purge since we started the channel a couple years ago. I don't think there's going to be another once in a blue moon type of event like that anytime soon.
PS- I've seen you talk in the channel after the purge. You're ok. If you had gotten hit, it's easy to check. Just open your Friendlist and click on the menu at the top. It lists all your lists, and channels you're in. Selecting any of them shows a full list of online members and their status. If you don't see PinnBadges you can just rejoin. If you see a white square next to your name you can simply ask to be unsilenced. -
Quote:The store screenshots I've seen have a Wish List button. I have a really hard time thinking you're the only person that can see and act on your own Wish List. I would be the height of ridiculous to not be able to Gift things.I am definitely cravimg info. The two thimgs I most want to know:
1) Can I buy/gift stuff to friends easily? Like could I pay for unlocking content for a friend?
Lewis
Edit- Crap. Zwill, that's incredibly disappointing. NCSoft has been steadily restricting our ability to Gift things for years. Whereas the rest of the internets have been making it easier and easier. Please do not let this fall through the cracks for another year. -
I would recommend heading to the Tech Issues section up above this one (this section tends to be better suited to game related non technical stuff). If you read the sticky and can provide the information they ask for, then the really smart guys and gals that hang out there can give you more help than you can probably imagine.
As general advice, I'd say it's possible that simply having the newest drivers may not be enough. It may be an unresolved issue, or something that actually works better on an older version of the drivers (things that worked can get messed up in newer versions quite often).
I'm not the guy to ask though. -
On my Dominator, Defense after the first 10 seconds of the fight is usually a moot point. I basically only need defense if I mis-time my alpha mezz and the enemies have a moment to fire back. So the answer in that case is Ranged.
However the absolute answer really depends on the usage and tactics behind the powersets you chose. Each Control set and Assault set ends up being more or less efficient in different positions, and if you don't have a hard mezz that can reliably shut down each spawn early, then Defense becomes a lot more important.
Please make a Dominator, they are awesome and even if there are growing pains they come out the other side stronger than you could imagine. But just as a final note, Global Recharge should be your highest priority in IO set bonuses, not defenses. -
When we used the working command a few months ago on Pinnacle, we set a low number to get the purge, then immediately increased it again. We were interested in making room, got what we wanted, and went back to giving people the flexibility to take breaks from the game and still have a connection when they got back.
PS- lol @ the argument about the command not working. -
I think for me, a lot of the game's cyborg and armored signature characters stand out for me. Whether it's Backalley Brawler/Marauder and his fists, or your own ingame analogue. They tend to be the most striking because they all get something that you very rarely see in the player costume parts, which is a sense of machinery melded onto flesh. I think that was the biggest failing of the Cyborg Super Booster you guys put out.
Here are some specifics that come to my mind:
Black Scorpion- The normal head, giant armor look really appeals to me. The same would go in a non techno sense for Dr. Vahzilok. The almost headless look with the face rising out of the chest is both disturbing and awesome.
Backalley Brawler- on the opposite end of the spectrum would be BaBs. His look is almost subtle in the sense that he looks very normal until you get to the fists. That's part of what makes it cool.
Archon Burkholder- Giant pincer claw on an otherwise normal body. 'nuff said.
Noble Savage- Nothing ingame captures the "bits stuck on" feeling like your own namesake. I think it's the lack of bilateral symmetry.
Non signature things I've always liked: Crey Agents have a lot of really subtle cybernetics, and that has always been a really cool look. A business suit with one robotic hand and a normal hand (again the missing bilateral symmetry).
There's a ton of other things I love/hate about signature characters, but I think that's the biggest most coherent point I could make. All of these features of their look have appealed to me on a consistent basis. -
Fire/Kin what, exactly? Corruptor or Controller?
The best way to increase your overall effectiveness as a Controller or Dominator is through Recharge bonuses. With those, your controls and damage abilities fire faster, locking down more foes, healing you more often, and doing more overall damage.
While the highest end builds use purple sets, there are quite a few relatively inexpensive sets you can get to improve your recharge and defenses. If you do eventually go the Purple route, you may be pleasantly surprised to find that Mezz sets are often cheaper than the others.
Additionally, it would serve you well to run tip missions that reinforce whichever alignment you are. Not only do you get drops, whenever you complete a cycle you get an Alignment Merit. Every regular (not purple) IO enhancer costs only 1 or 2 Alignment Merits each. Additionally you can spend money and convert the reward Merits you get from doing Task Forces and arcs into more Alignment Merits. Despite the money to convert that can quite often end up being more efficient than just getting recipes at the Merit Vendor or AH. -
8. We specifically asked for less junk Enhancer drops. Those changes mean you're less likely to get off origin or marginal use types of enhancer. Sorry it disagrees with your personal style, but it's what most people wanted (not to feel obligated to vendor after every mission). The money argument is moot as well, because unless a new person forces themselves to only level with people at character level or below, they will get enough drops to fund vendor purchased enhancers with INF to spare.
10. Temp powers are their own drop table. They have no negative effect on recipe rates or other items. In fact you can get a temp power, recipe, and salvage off the same kill.
11. as others said, rare recipes are rare. Your observer error laced anecdote about days between rare drops is noted, but not relevant.
14. Spawn rules for standard mission progression have been largely unchanged since launch. There has always been the chance for some +1 in a mission, and squishies have always had to deal with them. The only time this might be problematic is in the earliest levels or when spawning a mission at a setting higher than +0x1. Neither of which are a baseline situation, and the former at least has been largely dealt with in the past.
Conclusion- some of your ideas are ok. Some are based on misunderstanding of the system. Most shouldn't get the kind of global change you're proposing. I don't mind individually set filters so you can get drops (in a fair amount) more to your liking, however I don't like sweeping global changes to a drop system that is working pretty well for most people. -
Not part of the game, not the game's problem. Be more selective about who you invite on your teamspeak or Master Trial runs. The top flight guys on our server don't invite everyone, they use clear instructions in a macro so the league knows what to do without voice.
You don't "need" any one(s) person to complete anything in this game. And if their personality is making things harder for one or more other members of the group, they're not necessary no matter what kind of character they bring.
If whoever was in charge of the run wasn't willing to kick or mute people who harassed you, your problem is with THEM. You don't need to talk on teamspeak to get instructions. A good leader would have muted everyone who wasn't a trusted member and just let them listen. -
Way back in beta, everything had standard animations for getting up, just like players do. There were no timing differences.
-
I agree with this. Heads as a whole need to be looked at. Masks, makeup, faces, eyeholes, hair, ears, everything.
PS- we should really have a None option on ears, or even smoother ear coverings that don't stand out so ridiculously. -
I would heartily approve of the time it takes them to go through and make all these fixes. Should have been done years ago.
I really wish they'd go through and do a complete color matching pass, since I'm tired of avoiding parts that end up having glaring division lines. -
Quote:We keep calling this a remake, when it's really more of a sequel.
They're on Third Earth already, with a new "Thundera" built around the old Thundercat base. There's a clearly stated history involving Mumm-Ra. Sure, the names of the main characters are the same, but it's not hard to imagine that the names would become popular to future generations.
I'm happier thinking it's just that they wanted to come up with a more comprehensive and coherent backstory than, "we crashed here and there's a lot of weirdos around" -

Quote:Then you should have zero issues. You can progress through the entire Incarnate system doing just this. It takes longer, but it can be done. When the Alpha slot was released, I embraced it with many of my toons. Was prepared to do specific TF's for the Notices in WST's because all other parts I could build by doing any content I chose to do ether solo or in traditional 8 person teams in TF's.
On top of that you say you don't mind doing Trials casually. So do them. I think you'd be surprised at how different your experience would be on trials now as opposed to in that first week. Now that people have a grasp of what to do, it's no more complicated than a ship raid.
On top of all this, you can now simply continue doing casual trials on the character that is fully decked out. Then use the Voucher system to convert Incarnate Merits into materials for other characters. It's an easy way to avoid growing pains.
The crux of your overly long post is, in my opinion, a lot of your stress is self-manufactured. Avoid new trials until people have the kinks ironed out, and trust that your server is probably just as close to average as the others, and that your fellow players are just as interested in doing things smoothly and stress free as you are. -
Quote:Yeah that listing confuses me a little as well. I don't really have anything I fire 3 times a minute as part of my normal mezz or attack chains. They are listing these Procs in a new way. They are listed as roughly X number of times Per Minute. Some are 3 per minute, some are 4 per minute.
We'll have to get more detail before seeing if someone can break that down into a % per attack.
Except for the Fury bonus, which is just Extra Fury generated per attack.
I hardly dare to say it, but what if those procs are Global? Then the listing makes more sense (because they'd want to limit the number of times it can fire over time, like they do in rain powers).
It would also make sense in terms of the Dominator one. A short duration +dmg wouldn't mess with non damaging mezzes, and potentially break them.
If that's the case then these recipes are a totally different kettle of fish. -
Quote:I get into melee a lot too. As a dom, I'm not vulnerable then, because things have been hard mezzed.Yeah, the 3% Ranged defense is awesome! If you play at range.
My Dom is a Fire/Earth, melee defense or S/L defense would be better. Hence the reason I suggest 3% Defense vs 3.75% Ranged Defense in these sets.
Same goes for my Dual Pistol users who get into melee often, because of well, Hail of Bullets.
It's the very first moment I come around the corner and they turn and see me that matters. Sometimes I get hit pretty hard if my timing is off. More ranged is fine by me. -
Quote:at 4:30am my addled brain was thinking I could put it in an attack power.Which control set gives 6.25% recharge that you would replace? Edit: I should say which control power would you slot this in and which set would you replace?
now at 10am after a few hours sleep I know that's silly, however right now my best built Dom has Ragnarok 5 slotted in Carrion Vines, with a Trap of the Hunter proc. That works great as far as it goes, but with this set I'd drop it in there, and move the Ragnarok to replace the Posi's Blast I have in Fireball or Rain of Fire.
It ends up being a triple win for me. I pick up added Global Rech, Acc, and Ranged Defense at the high end. The damage power ends up being more efficient, and upping my overall DPS. And I get more set bonuses that travel with me when I exemplar down.
That's on my main dom. All the others in the process of leveling, it's obvious gravy. -
My Dom would kill to replace one of his 6.25 recharge bonuses with a set that has 8.75 recharge, AND accuracy, AND 3% ranged Def.
I'm not sure what color sparkles you were looking for on your unicorn, but this one is just fine by me thanks.
