Is it A Voice In Your Head - Hero side?
Spoiler....
Psi Knight brain emails you, asking for rescue from the devouring earth. Only by the time you get to him he has been mutated into a Greater Devoured. Not a scaled down Lt. either.
By the 30's, when you get this tip, most characters should be able to take him by eating inspirations and burning him down, but I can see how it can bother a lot of people too. I do agree it seems buggy but not as bad as some controllers against any elite boss. -
Quote:They stealth fixed Arctic Fog sometime after GR but before the most recent patch. You now get typed and positional defense like steamy mist
[EDIT: Actually I may be wrong about Cold lacking baseline elemental defense. Mids and the game detail text say it's there, RedTomax says it isn't. I'm almost positive that on Controllers, at least, it's not actually there despite the game text, not sure about Defenders.]
.
I noticed when I started a new controller and verified on my defender. -
I would switch the order of your stealth or grant invisibility with Super Speed. This will grant you early full invisibility as early as level 16. This would let you stealth on TF and even the caverns of transcendence trial.
The lotg will work at the level of of the enchancments regardless of when or if the power is available at whatever level your exemplared to (as long as your within 3 levels of the level of the global). It also saves you the cost of a needing a stealth IO. So you could move all of the lotg mules to the very end of your build if you want something earlier.
I would also switch Stygian Return and Eclipse around. It's minor but it would be a bit more exemplar friendly.
Also I would use a range in shadow recall for things like the shadow shard. It doesn't eat endurance that bad.
Franken slot some end mod/recharge IO's in Stygian Circle if you think you really need the recharge in it. With perma eclipse it gets used less and less since that boosts your recovery as well as resistance which lowers the amount of health you loose.
You could probably loose the slots on Dark Nova bolt also. At your levels of recharge you could do a Detonation>Blast>Emanation>Blast chain. Even on single targets with inherent stamina you should be Endurance sustainable to be able to do that chain.
Also, Do you use shadow blast? If you don't, think about switching it with Inky. It's a 1 slot wonder that stacks with Gravitic Emanation to stack stun on bosses.
I also tweaked Extracted essence slotting a little. The difference is literally a half a second difference on recharge but caps accuracy and raises damage up a bit. It was super cheap when I bought the Soul bound triple before going rogue, I'm not sure how much that is now.

I do TF's all the time. All the ones you mentioned. Yes I do LGTF's and act accordingly when I get mezzed. Yes theres some dwarf scrapping there. I exemplar below 33 and act like I did at that level. below 10 nova is slightly OP like blasters are and above that you can lean on dwarf or human form mezzing depending on the level.
If you prefer fighting mostly in human form why not pick up the Human AOE's and/or Quasar. If your doing things like double mire your shields are going to dropping all the time. Just stay human mire then nuke away. If you get mezzed breakfree or scrap it out in dwarf until the mez wears off. And at ED capped slotting, on Eclipse, your still getting 50's resistance to all, without the shields. That's not shabby against 3 enemies. YMMV I guess.
You feel that WS's can to be a resser/healer in the team. I can respect that as something you enjoy. kudos! I would just make them a wakie if they died so often they ran out of inspirations at 40+ which is the level of those TF's you mentioned. Alternatively you could kill whats killing them faster but we disagree on what's most helpful here and neither of us is wrong.
I maintain that the knock back sets are a bad idea in Gravtic Emanation. Their mezzed and they are already going flying. If your staying Human and spamming it take dark Detonation and Unchain Essense and do some AOE damage at the same time. If your mezzing everything then you wouldn't have to worry about being mezed yourself. And with the knock back set you will be spamming it to make it perma and to get the recharge to feed Eclipse. Stick Absolute Amazement in there if you can't move some sets around.
Or at least kinetic crash for the 7.5 recharge. Your not super contributing by staying in human and spamming a G. Ema. gravitic snare ebon eye chain and occasionally summoning a pet . Not to mention form flipping will drop the toggle on the shields anyway. Stupify or Absolute Amazement is where it at however.
Are you staying human form mezzing the whole time? To feed the FF proc?
You may enjoy a mostly human form play style though. That lets you mez to your hearts content and hurt things. You wouldn't have to change forms to use medicine and could always go dwarf so your not completely be break free dependent. You could also run things like leadership toggles reliably. Just Mez> Eclipse> human form mire> Kill a minion> Unchain essence> Dark Detonation. That's pretty hefty AOE damage slotted and with a mire. Quasar is very viable for a WS also with minor inspiration usage.
The triform playstyle is about the wacky double mire 3 pets following playstyle.
I'm not elitist. I have 1 purple set that was given to me. Solo I'm slower and using human controls more and tanking for the pets. I can farm the wall easy enough. On a team my biggest contribution is melting the opposition from inherent buffs only. Team given buffs are gravy. Not to mentioned I'm resistance capped and can rez myself. You can also get Perma eclipse from a non purpled build. Recharge lets me do that and it is useful while in human form (and Nova).
I do like that you don't mule anything, but maneuvers, cj, stealth, invisibility are also great 1 slot wonders for recharge. This is a difference of opinion between us however.
Here's a non purple perma hasten perma eclipse build. If you drop the last 4 powers and the LOTG's you can grab 1 slotted medicine and remain perma eclipse (but not perma hasten). Remember eclipse will boost recovery also making the Performance shifter procs better against one of the WS's true dangerous enemies, the unseen sapper.

Hmmmmmm.
The goal normally is perma hasten and perma eclipse. This gets rid of the need for the Human for shields since a double mire and eclipse getting about 7 will cap both Nova form for damage and resistance. As long as you can stay mez free, which is easy since your hovering above the melee fray at the resistance cap and highly self buffed damage.
You skipped some easy sets like Basilisk gaze in Gravity well and Stupify in Gravitic Emanation.
Did you really slot an easily perma mag 3 AOE MEZ power with a knockback set that doesn't even provide recharge? Change that now as you are currently sending perps flying far and wide. Its a mag 9 knock back at base, knock back is good enough. The proc from FF is ok I guess if you use enough.
Why no Performance shifter procs? At least put one in stamina. It procs in the forms also. You could drop one in the forms also for even more!
I really don't like the medicine pool. At 30 people have enough inspirations to rez themselves and everything you fight should be mostly mezzed or your at the resistance cap, or both
Heal self is ok but really WS sacrifice themselves on the alter of recharge. Perma eclipse will help a lot more than heal self. If your hurting that bad during combat drop to dwarf and work a chain together that includes Black dwarf drain.
WS's are not PB's and vice versa. Drop the human shields if your a triform WS. They are marginal on even Human form WS's. Pick up pool powers than can mule LOTG's.
People can get away with putting less than 6 slots in eclipse are also people that can afford purples to give them the recharge to do that.
I would gut the human form attacks (and you only have to take 1). Don't slot it.
I would try to fit in SS. Maybe where the snare is localted
And
Don't slot KB into Gravitic Emanation. (Yes I repeated it)

Now onto strategy have your form macros and TP macros set up. You can get fancy with these to do all sorts of whiz bang but that's all you need.
If you have a tank don't worry about Using gravitic Emanation unless your fighting Devouring earth. Those mess up a lot of people because they are cheaty face. Also sappers. Mess those SOB's up stat. Cause they will sap you right out of dwarf form and you won't even be able to use sprint to get out of there.
So either follow the tank or stealth into the biggest concentration of mobs you can find. Hit eclipse.
Then hit Sunless Mire. You now have a choice. If your team is chewing threw everything you can go nova a rain galactic death. Or you can go dwarf and hit the dwarf mire. (congratz you should be damage capped if you did that correctly and have a scrapper or 2 near you) Stay dwarf if your mezzed if not then go nova and rain galactic death. If it's a fast team just float on to the next group and rain damage capped galactic death.
Your dwarf form coupled with eclipse is very useful for things like hydra and psychic damage since eclipse can cap psychic and toxic damage for you. -
There was a complaint that the story arcs ended with a solo only arc. As this discouraged teaming and caused some early complaining they have added a radio style contact. 8 man teams fly through praetoria at sewer level speeds all the way to 20 without having to stop to do radio's in KR. Bonus you can rez in a hospital, or level; and still get to your team. Unlike the sewers.
-
Not to sound like a devices fan there is a bonus to devices with those gigantic cast times. Huge defiance bonuses. Gun drone at nearly 40% defiance bonus and Trip mine at 26%. Time bomb is 52%.
Trip mine>whatever attack from primary is a poor man's build up. Sniper rifle is almost respectable after that.
Do defiance's bonus come after the animation is complete. If so that could mean Time bomb> Gun drone > AOE chain of choice with 102ish damage bonus for 10 seconds when needed.
It's nothing to write home about and who likes freaking long cast times, but it is something devices adds to a primary.
Or you could just go ice and hit Ice patch> shiver > build up and go crazy.
The complaints about SS and stealth IO are highly exaggerated. The council maps are the worst thing you'll have to deal with outside the Shadow shard and Grandville. You can buy jet packs at both those places. Since Cloaking devices defense suppress on attack and since there is no stealth strike it's meh.
Caltrops while full of win is not better than Ice Patch or the like. -
Solo
Use Gravitic Emanation before you buff your self. That should take care of all the non boss mezzers.
Group
Eclipse before you Mire. Rather go Eclipse>Sunless Mire >>Dwarf form>Dwarf Mire. If you have a couple of scrappers or blasters you may just be at the damage cap. If you have nova then at this point start raining galactic death or go human Quasar/Unchain. If you have a hold on you during dwarf then just stay dwarf until the hold runs out. If you get held immediately after eclipse you should be over 60ish resistance to all.
Really this is the only dangerous part. If the enemies start laying multiple sleeps and stuns on you during the transformation they will stop the switch to dwarf form. Trust you resistance and the team then pop a break free or just slam your dwarf form macro key over and over.
O and sappers are the only thing that can really stop you dead. Mez them first. Another new troublesome mob are the new freakshow Bosses. They can sap you quick and then sleep you. Keep your wits about you with the fresakshow now.
These are bad since sapping is the only real big whole WS's have, and you don't have an answer for if it gets out of hand. -
-
Was it Whisper Witch's/Magiccj's stuff? Yeah He/She did some awesome things with the build. Those shield scrappers can make all controllers feel marginalized if your on a fast moving team. Couple that with you being a mostly single target damage specialist.
Not to say it's not great but whats missing is something to set up a reliable AOE containment power that doesn't break so you can solo quickly with something like say fireball. TK can work but you'll need a wall. Also since there is no immobilize you can't get anything with purple triangles into containment without high levels of recharge and you will need temp pets/powers.
That reason alone has me putting off mind until controllers get traps as a secondary.
Also no '-to hit' in the fear is meh
On that note you can do some pretty interesting tricks with Mind/FF and keeping a team safe is easy. Just soloing AV's or defeating missions with difficulty setting at 0x8 solo, quickly, and with out temps/inspirations, is not one of them. -
Darn you guys for making remember SPvsTW. So do I pick up the last 3 Fables books, or pick up the Scott Pilgrim books with that Amazon gift card. Choices choices
-
Spiritual gives you 12 seconds downtime between the buffs on Heatloss, Near perma benumb (or less downtime if you miss), and more sweet sweet sleet stacking.
With HL buffs near perma (and it gives you minimally 2.2 end/s without a hit check) Cardio should be the last thing you need.
While 40% positional defense is laudable, is it really necessary at 50? Your already providing 37ish defense before the alpha slot. What happens when you start stacking your /dark secondary with your 120% global recharge? With perma benumb, infrid, stacked sleet, with an occasional heatloss AV's shouldn't be to hard for any group requiring those levels of defense just from you. -
Quote:The only time I've actually had a problem with left spawns was several years ago in Founders Falls, someone got a Winter Lord to spawn right next to the Pocket D entrance. It wasn't their fault, though :P
My favorite was last year when some of the Winter Lord spawn points were right in front of the Ouro exit points for talos (the hill) and in founders.
So exit Ouro to talos.... instagib for squishies! -
Quote:to add leadership as you stated would require 1 additional power choice. If I were looking for 5 spots for LOTGs on a tri-form I would not get combat jumping.
I would recommend...Shadow Cloak, Grant Invisibility, Invisibility, Maneuvars (put the +perception enh in Tactics) and Vengeance.
Of course, I didn't write the guide that inspired the masses to become MFing Warshades (Great job on that guide btw).
As stated shadowcloak, GI, Inv, Maneuvers, Tactics, and Vengeance is 1 more power than in the build. It is certainly viable however. I would not want to have to drop starless step or nebulous, even as marginally as I do use them for that however..
On that note with inherent fitness I'm probably going to switch out the the Pshifter proc for the +perception global in Nova. It's pretty sustainable already and I don't even have any of the procs in fitness yet. -
This is really close to what I have on live with near (under 1 second) perma hasten and perma eclipse. On live I have an Armageddon I won from Organica in black dwarf mire, which is why I left it blank below. There are some slots floating that you could throw in to inherent fitness or move around.

Yes I meant the debuff portion when I stated all the debuffs. It is a very marginalized balancing issue. Infridigidate could arguably be auto hit (especially since it's single target), or at least get an accuracy higher than 1.0. It is primarily a single target defense debuff that can't stack. There something non logical about a damageless defense debuff needing a hit check.
This is unrelated to the thread at hand however. I just wanted to contrast that most of rads debuffs are auto hit. -
The only really bad part is that all the debuffs on cold require a hit check. Benumb and Heat Loss will miss every so often even with sleet stacking.
Subjectively bad is my estimate cost for a build I got to 211% recharge. At that recharge PA's recharge is at 59 seconds and Heat loss is very near perma (for the buff not the debuffs) at recharge of 94 seconds.
Nobody mentions this thread when people ask about how good it is. -
Well FF will cover one of the only real defense holes a warshade has, Endurance drain. An ICE domination can provide a huge damage buff (via the resistance debuffs), 3/4ths the defense, an end boost (a massive one if not perma), and a good HP boost that is actually useful for the WS.
It's not clearly FF as the top choice but it is a good one. -
Not to mention if the "8 Man TF" was an ITF it technically makes sense for a cyst to spawn.
On that note yes they will spawn on an ambush and in that case it can indeed become a crazy wild time. -
I feel the same while super speeding in human form. You have to jump up the small wall not the big wall at wentworths
. And nova form traveling was so slow before (compared to SS or tp) without swift. I WANT NAO!
-
As stated earlier, at level 1 you will have access to nova. This gives you at a level 1 exemplar a hover blaster with 2 AOEs with KB, a sizable to-hitbuff, damage bonuses from the inherent while on a team, and if you were 50 a good chance of a purple set bonus or 3. Knock back isn't a problem with nova form.
The only problem you will have is something you will have all the way to 50, Mez which is pretty low at this level anyway (stupid vahz and lost bosses).
A nova form Kheldian is a wrecking ball on an 8 hero sewer run, even on just TO's. Anything more like purple sets is just icing on the cake. No one will have a problem getting to 10. -
Pretty sure the extracted essences would help a ton with recharge/slow on an entire mob. They are basically nova form with slightly less damage slotted up. They can use the purple proc which affects all, and you will have 3 with a less expensive recharge build (not perma-hasten). Grab the presence pool and let them go to town in human form.

Quote:I thought the same thing. How the heck did I like that as a kid. Argh it's bad. Check out "Days of future past" or "X-tinction Agenda" again so damn wordy and repetitive. The worst part is it didn't stop with him, the blocks of text didn't stop until well after "Operations Zero Tolerance" years later. I remember trying to read Claremonts novel gawd it was a hard read for a 16 year old. Reading this leads me to think that this explains the slump lasting as long as it did.Claremont. First thing that popped into my head as soon as I saw the thread title.
His X-men work was far too laden down with inflated word balloons but it was too bad (sometimes). But then I tried to read the first issue of Sovereign 7. Tried. So many words, yet so little said...
It didn't really change until Marvel started getting Bendis, Millard, Whedon, Pak, Brubraker and the like.
