On my 41 tank, join a PuG of 40-ish. Ranging from 38-41. It's an train mish, you know...the one where you go to a train station and one of your options is the active mission? An outdoor instanced? OK...

39 Warshade joins the team. Usual banter begins, "Hi, how are you? Good, you?" blah blah blah...

Four of us, out of 5, are in the mission. Waiting on the last. I start going through team members, what powers, etc... I check the Warshade, expand the team window so I could see where he was and what was taking so long..he's in Oroborus. OOOOOooooK.

I ask, "What up yo?!" OK, that wasn't verbatim, but you get the jist. He then asks..."How do I get to that mission?"

    O.o

Um...I kindly reply (as do two others) that you need to go...yada yada yada...I then mention that I think you can actually get here via the Orobous portal, when you leave Oroborus. He tells us, "Nope, not an option." We tell him to go to Talos or FF since the train station is really close to the Oroborus drop off point. He goes to FF.

At which point the lv 40 team lead, a blaster, asks "What's Oroborus?"

    O.o

Um...OoooooK! I tell him, "Well, since sparky is taking a while...here I'll show you."

I drop the portal...we enter. I fly up to show him where the badge is, explain it (no vet badges), and go back to the Oroborus exit...and Lo and Behold! There it is...the option to enter his mission is there. Just as we click it the lost Warshade zones back into Oroborus.

    O.o *quiver*

We go back into the mission...I then tell, sternly and fatherly, the Warshade that the option to get into the mission is indeed in the Oroborus exit menu.

    All we get is, "Oh".

    /em sigh

I am not sure on game mechanics, but I may have one possible answer as to why the WS couldn't see the mission (I assume you mean it was a Board Train mission). What if he had the window open before he joined the team?

Does anyone know if it will add the train mission option it the list of travel destinations?

His real problem is a small PS (250 watts, 16 Amps @+12v), most video cards (including the one you linked to) have higher PS requirements than what his Dell is packing.

Edit: I realized I should elaborate. Kryhavoc, the video card that Dell itself recommends has a higher PS requirement than your Dell Dimension 3000 has. If I were you I'd check again with Dell about your upgrade, mentioning the small PS you have and the minimum requirements of the video card.

Thank you, I was wondering about that.

My experience, prior to the advent of Patrol XP, has been thus.

Tutorial, come out at level 2.

Do Kalinda first arc. You should be just over halfway to level 3 after bringing in Operative Burke. You should ding level 3 during the second mission. You should be three quarters through level 3 when you finish the Defeat all Infected mission. The arc completion bonus for this mission should ding you to level four. The next three missions should level you to five (you should ding level 5 with either the mission or arc completion for Defeating Syrus).

If you have taken the Burke route, you should ding level 4 in the egg chamber. The arc completion bonus will take you halfway to level 5. Burke will have two more missions after this, which will take you halfway to level 6.

At this point, you can either do Mongoose / Creed, or skip them and go straight to Port Oakes.

Mongoose is more neutral / mercenary, and Creed has you do some fairly evil stuff (all in the name of Science, of course, which makes it all better ).

I do suggest doing all of the starting contact's missions so that you can get straight to the cape and aura missions at level 20 and 30. If you leave one of the arcs unfinished, you will need to complete it first. If you don't get their phone numbers, you will need to do a significant amount of Zone swapping in order to get your cape or aura. (IIRC, Cape takes you from Sharkhead to Port Oakes, and Aura takes you from Sharkhead to Cap. Adding Mercy into the mix is a massive PITA).

    [/ QUOTE ]

What I like to do with Kalinda's Arc is reach level 3 and get the 'Defeat all Infected' mission. Since I have Mission Transporter from Mac Edition to get to the mission door, that way I don't have a long run ahead of me. When I finish the mission, I find a mob outside, jump in the middle and use Self Destruct from Cyborg Booster Pack, after I am dead, I 'go to hospital' and I am back close to Kalinda to get next mission.

    I wanted to cry

I created a new toon on Justice last night to grab a name I had just thought of (Beefcake Minotaur) and had just zoned into Outbreak. There was someone that was obviously new by the conversation I overheard in Local Chat as I reset up my new power trays.

The new player was asking all kinds of questions and when I check on badges, it was kinda refreshing to see no badges whatsoever. I helped answer questions along with the other person and had a lot of fun doing so.
  7. I guess what I am really asking is would it work better on COH than my Intel 865G Integrated Graphics. That is what I have right now and that is at the minimum specs according to my AE box. Recommended is GeForce 6200. So the 8400 would be better than the 8400 and it should work to make things look even better.

I am hoping since it is a recommended upgrade for my computer by Dell, that it should work.

    Thanks for your help guys!
  8. I own a Dell Dimension 3000, I know, nowhere near top of the line in computers even when I bought brand new about 4 years ago. But it was a huge improvement over my previous computer.

I recently upgraded the ram from 256mb to 2gb ram and tried the game to see if it would run. Much to my surprise, not only did it run the game, it looked better than it ever did on my nephew's computer (the one I started playing COH with).

Currently, I am playing with my integrated graphics on the motherboard. I am considering upgrading to a real GPU and when I check Dell to see what is recommended, the largest one (mb wise) the recommend is the nVidia GeForce 8400GS 512 mg PCI Card.

Will this be sufficient to run the game? I can get it from Dell for $60, but I found it at Newegg for EVGA brand for $54.99. These are prices that are very tempting and I would like some advice before spring for a GPU.

Edit: How do I check to see what watts my PSU has? This requires minimum 350 watts.
  9. Try an Energy Blaster, you get to see stuff fly!
  10. That's what I love about this forum, I learn stuff every day!

What's funny is I was looking up stuff about villain healing for another thread, saw Black Hole and just sat and tried to figure out why I would use it. Glad to see my strategy & tactics acumen is still working.

Dark is centered on the caster, Kin the target, which means if the target dies as the heal should be going off :

    Dark is fine

Kin gets pretty (non-healing) special effects.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Every time I play my /dark corruptor and this happens, I smile a little and say out loud, "[censored] you, Kinetics!" Way too many levels of kin/

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, with the target dead, nowhere for the little healer pet to drop!

Oh, and Dark has an awesome AoE stun that doubles as an AoE rez Also easily rezzes Self Destructed allies.

Oooo, Howling Twilight! I love that better than Vengeance!
  12. I might have to select it for my second build and give it a try. By the time you reach 50, you have several powers that you use only when the time is right.

I didn't pick it first time around because of the backlash against the player that used it, but that was just not using the power correctly.
  13. Ok, I admit I am a little confused about this power. I actually had an encounter with it being used by someone else before I had contemplated taking it and the team was extremely mad at the user. We were wailing on a foe when suddenly, we were getting unaffected messages and had to wait until the power faded to finish defeating the foe.

It makes your foe intangible and you can't damage the foe, but I believe it also means your foe can't damage you either.

Only real use I can imagine is, if your team is about to be teamwiped by an AV, you can hit him with this power, giving your team time to regroup, run for safety, what have you.

Any other suggestions why this could be a useful power?
  14. I have a Dark/Dark Corruptor. With Twilight Grasp 3 slotted for Accuracy (this was before Accurate Healing was available).

As I was teaming, someone else with some other kind of team heal power (this was over a year ago, I don't remember what the power was) was flabbergasted that I was doing about 3 times the amount of healing he was doing.

Add in the effect of reduced ToHit, Damage and Regeneration of our foes, this was a very effective heal at lower levels.
  15. I've only been here nine months of game time and the "shiney" still hasn't worn off. I have so much fun with this game. The players are great. I enjoy the PUG's I join, I even took my level 50 and joined a level 40 team just for the fun of it. Got exemplared and still rocked the mobs.

    Team Leadership

Since a lot of players hate the "Defeat X# of so-and-so enemy" missions, I try to get those missions out of the way on my own. When I get to the story arc, I'll invite a team and run the story arc with them. Some stick it out to the end of the arc, sometimes someone quits for various reasons (not what they want to do, real-life commitments, etc) and I can usually find replacement fairly easily.

After I have finished my contact, I will look at what missions someone else has and help them with their missions. Kinda like rub my back, now I rub yours as a reward for helping me.
  17. In the case of Hess, hopefully, the player is a member of a supergroup with a medbay setup. After rezzing in the medbay, they can rest to full health and then pick up anything they may need (inspirations, for example) and when they use the main entrance/exit for the SG base, they are placed back in the zone they left.

Now, I did Abandoned Sewers Trial yesterday and was very glad we had an Empath on our team. I don't know where I would have been placed for that after I died a couple times, but if it wasn't where the team was, it most likely would have been in Atlas Park. It would not have been fun to try to get past all those mobs in the Abandoned Sewers to get to the Trial Door entrance.

Edit: Just reread your post. My first paragraph would also apply to Terra Volta, there is a place to return to in TV after you go to your Base Hospital.
  18. I am a nine month vet and had two respecs drop during the first seven months of gameplay on the same toon.
  19. Kryhavoc

    I wanted to cry

I teamed with someone in Port Oakes and I was doing Paper Missions. Just as I got the Atlas Park Mayhem Mission, I received a team invite. I figured, why not?

So I say yes, get invited to the team and it is just the two of us. I reach the sub and I am waiting patiently for the Team Leader to pick a mission or suggest something. After about 3-5 minutes of watching him on the map just bouncing around, I ask what he had planned.

Shortly after that, my Mayhem Mission is selected and he makes a beeline for me. We go inside the mission and he is bouncing all around the place, attacking everything in sight.

Pretty useful actually, if a little uncoordinated in what he attacked. In the course a short conversation, he admits that he is only 8 years old. I check his badges and see 60 month vet badge. I figure it was probably Dad's account and Dad was probably there helping him.

All in all, it was pretty fun and we had a successful Mayhem Mission, considering I've been on 8 man teams that just totally fell apart with teamwipes and time running out.

I even got invited to join my young teammate's villain group. So, yes, be careful upon whom you look down on. Yes, MA Babies are bad, but not all Veteran accounts with little knowledge or even new accounts mean anything. Please remember to be respectful to your fellow player. It is up to us to help them learn how to play the way we would like to play.

u sure about a special website? i already checked and i didnt find nothing :/

What he meant by late, it was late as in time as in he should have been in bed a couple of hours ago.

Sorry, I have no other useful information about Buying Magic Pack.
  21. One thing I noticed last night on Live. I have my Global Friends window open and I am doing stuff and chatting. If I leave the Global Friends window alone long enough, it switches to that other Global window which has the radio button at the very bottom of your chat screen (the one that has Server, Global, Global Ignore). Not sure why that happens.
  22. I got an email response back from a GM. The GM stated that Mercy Island contacts range from levels 1 - 8. So I guess that settles it.
  23. So Doctor Creed is really on levels 5 - 8? Then Paragonwiki should be corrected.
  24. So, I did all of Burke's missions, got referred to Doctor Creed, who, according to Paragonwiki, is a level 5-9 contact.

But I also dinged level 5. So I promptly went to Port Oakes to run paper missions and Mayhem missions to get the jetpack. While I was there I did that a couple times to get all the paper contacts introduced and stopped earning XP so I do all three of the Port Oakes contacts for levels 5-9.

I went back to Doctor Creed (yes, I confirmed I am still level 9), but discovered that he would offer me any missions. He has been moved to my inactive list. He was on my active list when I looked while still at level 8. Annoying, but not game breaking.

I did submit a bug report on it, though. Don't the contacts usually run the 5 level range?
