  1. I'm guessing this is only intended for RV pvp and STF/ITF/LGTF. Having your only travel power at 49 is really asking for trouble.

Why the Knockback IO? Indomitable Will provides more than enough KB protection.

Given the durability of Willpower do you really need Tough and Weave? It seems to be three powers you could drop, unless they're purely there to be mules for set bonuses.
  2. Got to agree here. Don't bother with Revive unless you A. expect to die alot, B. it fits thematically with your concept.

Hack is, or should be your most basic attack in Broadsword, a first pick in character creation. Slash is all well and good as a late pick to fill your attack chain (not that it's needed) but it's nothing compared to Hack.

Yeah Focused Accuracy (FA), six slot it and love it. You may find Conserve Power handy for long fights, especially now you have FA which is rather End hungry. Sure QR, Stamina and Set IOs help alot but even my Bs/Regen can dent that recovery rate with FA and Hasten buffed attacks.

If it's toys you want then Weapons Mastery might be for you. The pool is getting Targetting Drone (it's roughly equivalent to FA) in i13 and there's a few curios in the arsenal of caltrops and throwing stars.

    Time Bomb

@Heart_Attack: Remote detonation, now that would be awesome, stick it on the suggestions board. I'm sure they could redo it as a non-moving cloaked pet which could be commanded to detonate.

Ok from a /Dev blaster's point of view let me see if I can understand this...
Time Bomb, a device that can be placed while stealthed, (according to Mid's) when 3 slotted with damage SOs does 325.2 Lethal and 216.8 Fire damage A.o.E., is worse than Flurry?
That's only marginally less (52 points) damage than Nova.

    Time Bomb

    [ QUOTE ]
trying to pull mobs into the time bombs radius

[/ QUOTE ]I think that's where the problem is (at least for a /Dev Blaster). You're trying to use Time Bomb in a role suited for Trip Mines. Time Bomb should be used as the "pulling" attack, the 15 seconds is there for your to retire to a safe place and sling some caltrops down.

For a Corruptor that doesn't have a chance to get Cloaking Device, it's a whole other kettle of fish.

    Time Bomb

I don't have it in my AR/Dev blaster's build, I don't actually have the room for it, although the Gun Drone could be considered a candidate for substitution.

To me Time Bomb is a first strike weapon to be placed "toe bomb" style once any other traps have been set. It's not intended for use in the middle of a fight, the whole purpose of the Bombs in the Devices/Traps sets is pre-placed attacks.

Basic semi-safe solo strategy would be to place trip mines on a path between your hiding place and the mob, then place any other traps as appropriate, then place your Time Bomb at the feet of your targets and retire to your hiding place to wait (hiding is important so the mobs don't just stand there and gun you down).
Result = Time Bomb goes BOOM > Survivors get annoyed and head for you (if they can't see you yet, if they can you're screwed because they'll stop and fire off an alpha at you) straight through the your mine field, BOOM BOOM BOOM etc > any survivors of that get stuck on your tertiary traps (caltrops etc.) and can be mopped up by your Primary attacks.
  6. Depending on how many forms you are willing to use it is possible to do some respectable AoE damage with a PB as an alpha-strike. I find that Build-Up > Nova Form > Nova Scatter > Nova Detonation will wipe out most minions leaving you the opportunity to floor the rest with whatever combination of powers suit the situation.

Stamina is a must if you invest in Human Form attacks, they devour Endurance. It may be possible to get by using just Conserve Energy, Nova Form (as a kind of mobile rest) and Frankenslotting Set IOs, but I have my doubts.

The core difference though is a PB's independence. You don't need mobs (or corpses) to buff yourself. Sure the buffs don't last as long (Compared to a WS) but they're consistent in what they give and you don't need to dive into the middle of a mob to use them.
  7. Last time I was on an ITF we worked it slightly different. The Tank pinned down the nictus floaties and kept them out of sight while the rest of us beat the snot out of Romulus.
  8. I suspect there's a little bit more to it than that. The lifts at each end of the club act as selective barriers for the two factions, use of recall friend would, theoretically, circumvent that and might allow Villains access to Paragon City and Heroes access the The Isles.
Not something the Devs want as the only places the two sides should be mixing is in the PvP zones, RWZ, Cimerora and Pocket D.
  9. The weirdest bug I've ever encountered was with my Mastermind. I was swapping from the Ski Shallet to Pocket D dance floor and I ended up here. That's not in the editor it's actually the empty space outside a base. It's not even the base of my MMs SG. I couldn't get "inside" to escape so I had to use my Pocket D teleporter to escape.

Also, did anyone notice these little chappies in the final mission of the Valentines event.
  10. Knight_Errant

    I13 screenies!

The nearest thing to a primitive (stone age) shield is the Ishlangu carried by Zulu warriors. It was made from an Ox hide stretched over a wood frame.
  11. I don't think I've ever heard of that bug. Then again I've never had to respec a Kheld. I only started a serious attempt at a PB (Tri-Form) a few weeks ago and she's ticking along nicely as part of a sunday night team. The raw firepower seems to rival my Nrg/Nrg blaster. With the i13 changes she's going to go from devastating to sheer Awesome.
  12. Maybe it's just an export bug but the slotting order looks very wrong (pre L21 slots in the Dwarf form powers?).
  13. Assault can be toggled with the little button to the right of the power (green=on, black=off).
I've had a chance to look at both builds on Mids' and I'm getting your damage for build's two attacks showing as 316 and 209. The damage for my build is lower, probably because of lower IO levels.
I think the Chance for Build Up IO is skewing the math.
  14. It could be the level of the IOs in your build or that you don't have Assault toggled on (although I doubt the difference would be that dramatic). I'll take a look at your build on Mids' when I get home tonight.
  15. Funwise for me it has to be my Claws/Regen/Dark I really missed the amount of immediate soft control I got out of Claws when I tried a DB scrapper.
Sentimentally my first 50 was my Bs/Regen/Body I still play her in high level TFs and for blitzing prestige. The revised MoG really gave her a new lease of life.
Most of the time it's the "in the zone" moments that keep me returning to these toons. When you're fighting a bunch of mobs and everything becomes instinctive, each attack lands in just the right way and in just the right order to make the fight look and feel almost effortless.
That aside I think single handedly taking down all the yellow Mitos in an LGTF and pinning down a heal spamming Nictus at the end of the ITF are some of my BS/Regen's finer moments in a team.
  16. 'People called Romanes they go the house'?

    And hurrah!
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    Marketing the game as well

[/ QUOTE ]This! It seems like CoX is only passed on by word of mouth and a few MMO website reports. With all the adverts for WoW and EvE that seem to be plastered over virtually every MMO gaming site it's a miracle people know CoX exists at all.
  18. Knight_Errant

    Merge Servers?

It just all the gamers running off the shiney new WAR. They'll be back once the gloss wears off. The same ebb and flow happens whenever a new MMO goes live.
  19. She's not perfect by a long shot as I've added IOs a bit haphazardly. The basic idea is that she acts like a passive buffer for the rest of the AR/Dev team she's with (other team members have picked powers from the Medicine pool or Leadership pool, or both). If she were to take an all-out damage role in the team then I would replace Assault and Tactics with Flamthrower and Ignite.

  20. AR/Dev really relies on the box of tricks provided by Devices to bring down the bigger mobs. With a combo of soft control from Beanbag and Tazer. You'll have to decide just how much you expect to end up soloing. If it's alot then I recommend you invest well in the Devices, primarily Trip Mines, Cloaking Device, Gun Drone and Caltrops the rest is a matter of personal taste.

I can post up the build for my AR/Dev this evening, but she is partially geared toward providing buffs for the all AR/Dev team she's part of.

    Cyborg leakage

    [ QUOTE ]
I doubt they pester requested to pay for it every month, that will have been some bright sparks idea in marketing.

[/ QUOTE ]True, it was probably a case of, "Hey they're getting something we can't/won't!"
I doubt there was any marketing shenanigans, my understanding from all the chatter on the US boards is that the power is unchanged. The jetpack temp-power as issued with the retail item only had a 30 day lifetime. They asked for access to it. *shrugs*

It's interesting how these "booster packs" are almost being spun as a charity donation system for CoX. "Show you care for CoX! Buy a booster pack!"
  22. Knight_Errant

    Cyborg leakage

To be fair the jetpack was pester-requested in the US as it was included with a retail item and others wanted access to it.
I don't think it appeared over here (I've never seen any flying around). If those who clamoured for it want to spend $8.99 on a power that only lasts 30 days, *shrugs* that's their problem.
  23. Try it as an AR/* blaster with Sniper Rifle in Atlas Park. Just pick your spot on a roof with a good view of some mugging spawns and pick off the muggers one by one.

It's the way newbies just pause in shock after seeing a nearby mob go flyings for no visible reason.

Morally ambiguous? Sure. Still mildly entertaining though.
  24. Knight_Errant

    Cyborg leakage

The Heads Up Display aura looks great, I can see that being used for my AR/Dev Blaster's armour.

The chest detail pieces could be useful but they don't bring anything new that the Enforcer and Vanguard pieces haven't already.

The shoulder pieces are ok and might be useful but again they're nothing to write home about.

The head pieces are little more that bulky versions of the "Tech:Bot" head texture.

I don't like the arm or leg pieces at all.

    So overall,
    Auras: Wooh!
    The rest: Meh
Dunno if I'll bother buying it, I'm rather disappointed really. Is one cool aura piece really worth £6?
