  1. You have no moral obligation to do anything. The best advice is just to get over it, you'll have much more fun playing if you don't make up silly and arbitrary restrictions on your gameplay.

It would be far better just to list for 1 to move your inventory faster. The tiny loss in profit will be greatly made up for by the fact that your market slots aren't constantly being clogged by junk items. 5,500 inf is basically nothing, not close to enough to worry about. It'll matter less if you don't play the same characters regularly... but even still, IMO, it's a good idea.

Now for really valuable stuff, you should follow the goatrule (actually, you shouldn't, only I should )

That was the US release. There's also the Korean release which uses different servers... which is probably doing MUCH better (it's a CRAZILY grindy game). I assume those numbers are the sum of all versions.
  3. Things that contribute to the cap for damage:
    Enhancements
Self Buffs (such as Build Up)
External Buffs (such as Fulcrum Shift... which can often pretty easily cap everyone short of a Brute without even trying)
    Set Bonuses
    Musculature Alpha Slot

Things that aren't limited (directly) by the cap:
    IO Procs
    Incarnate Procs
Fiery Embrace (it basically adds a fire "proc" to your other attacks)

Why'd you want to go over a cap? The only situation would be if you wanted to be able to be hit with a debuff and remain at the cap- Defense based characters without a lot of Defense Debuff Resistance will often try to do this with the Defense soft cap if they can (to prevent a cascading defense failure when fighting enemies that do -def with all their attacks).
  4. It seemed like many portions of the trailer weren't filmed in ultra mode! I definitely noticed a few shadows that were just the old-fashioned circle-blobs as well...

The trailer seemed rather underwhelming to me. It didn't look like it showed off any of the Incarnate powers (from the screenshots I've seen of them, many should be hard to miss!), or really anything particularly interesting about either of the new TFs (I've not run them yet, though... so I'm assuming they actually have interesting stuff in them!). There's the opening, then a variety of somewhat random fighting scenes.

Alpha Strike's trailer showed off the Tin Mage/Apex TFs quite well, showing off some different things obviously set them out as being new content.
  5. 1.) You could capture a video of them using Fraps (the free version can capture a 30 second clip, which should be more than long enough for you to get a loop). Of course, then the real question is how are you going to show it on the site. Flash (icky), animated gif (disgusting), and the video tag (no single codec universally supported yet).

2.) Check out ParagonWiki. For legality... totally not touching that one. You'd likely need to transcode them from ogg to another format, since most people don't have browsers that support ogg+vorbis... you'd also need to decide how to play it (using flash for video + audio would probably be the easiest solution).
  6. By 'mouse look' are you meaning first person view? If so, you can enter that by pressing 'n', or scrolling all the way in with the mouse.

Alternatively, you can adjust which way you're facing and what not by holding down the right mouse button (holding the scroll wheel won't turn your character, just rotates the camera).
  7. If I remember I tend to try to Fortune the whole team.

I've never once had anyone complain. The Fool is the only one with a negative aspect, and it's only a 3% tohit debuff... hardly something that'll make a large impact, especially later on (even lowbies won't be hugely impacted).
  8. Nemesis probably doesn't trust the Well- or the Well doesn't trust Nemesis! While we have no idea the what the ultimate goal of the Well is... I'd argue that we/the well quite possibly have even less of a clue what Nemesis' goal is (being basically a thirty xanatos pileup... just by himeself!). Nemesis' goals might and probably are completely orthogonal to acquiring mere power.

Emperor Cole might also not be the only entity that the Well has been pouring power into... just the only one we've encountered. Rularuu may or may not have a connection to the Well, and we still don't know much of anything about the Coming Storm- they might also somehow have a connection (hell, the Well's purpose might be to fight the Coming Storm!). There might be an as-of-yet unknown group that'll have a major impact on the future story that have very strong ties (surely in the entire multiverse Emperor Cole isn't the only one thats been willing to accept the Well's power).
  9. Occasionally CoH will forget if you have the EATs unlocked or not, so logging into an appropriate hero/villain will fix that issue... have you tried logging into your 20+ rogue just to make sure? It's also possible that Rogues/Vigs don't count towards EATs, which is probably an oversight.
  10. 3.) The Legacy Chain were too stupid to live anyways. They're a tech group, after all... Seriously (so are the luddites... LUDDITES!!!!!!).
  11. You mean Prestige Power Slide? That was part of the City of Heroes Collector DVD/Hero Kit Bonus Power.

    Edit: Damn you Lothic!

    Boosters

Send a message to support via the website, with all the information. They'll have the problem fixed in probably ~24 hours (although it's a friday, so that might wrap around to monday).

I wouldn't be surprised if after so many attempts with multiple payment methods that your account has been flagged as well.

(I was also passing stdin/stdout/stderr between the two and recording it, just in case there was any magic going on with that)

Also... I think NCsoft ripped off my manual patching format I used multiple times back when Paragon's patching servers exploded at the start of open betas! (and took it back in the past with them... damn Ouroboros!)

If they just change the arguments around, it'll take all of 30 seconds to figure the new ones out (I already wrote a program that could do that years ago, when testing my own launcher for CoH actually).

If they do sneakier things, people will still be able to figure out what they've done... and really, why would bypassing the updater be a problem to them? I'd say there's even less reason for it to bother them now that they've moved the EULA in-game.

Edit: On the plus side, the NCSoft Launcher uses plain-old HTTP to distribute manifests and patches... looks like resurrecting City Launcher would be fairly easy, along with adding support for updating internally

    Is it just me...

I only recently started reading the forums again (~1 week ago), and it seems pretty much exactly the same tone and attitude as it was ~6 months ago- that is, far more mature, helpful, and respectful than pretty much any other game forum out there.

Best as I can tell, the forum is pretty much exactly the same as it was when I first started. Different sections carry the idiot ball at different times, but I don't believe there's been any extra idiot balls added into the fray (besides the usual pre-issue angst that has occured with every issue I've been around for).

Probably the easiest is to just send a PM via the forums to one of the red names (not sure which'd be best to ask, though).
  18. Just curious, but has anyone actually tried to contact a redname about this 'issue'? It's quite possible they might agree that it's overly sensitive/an oversight and should be removed. As 'cracker' is a real word in addition to being a slur, they might be willing to remove it from the list as there's legitimate, non-offensive reasons for using it (unlike the others I can think of off the top of my head).
  19. The registry settings are stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cryptic\Coh
You can access them via regedit (the Windows Registry Editor).

Edit: If you're on a Mac, IIRC, Cider stores the registry in some files somewhere as a text file...
  20. I just got back after ~5-6 months of being gone. The Going Rogue missions are awesome (I ordered a PPD officer to get me some tea on live TV, the look on his face was priceless).

There's pretty much 4 paths through Praetoria, two sides for Loyalists and two for Resistance, and you can 'swap sides' or even play 'under cover' (I've not done that so far, I've gone through most of the Responsibility arc).

All I've done on other characters was unlock the Alpha slot on my Fire/Kin (the story arc to do it is pretty fun... especially the opening mission!). There's a bunch of new Task Forces (with more coming in i20), a crap ton of fun "zone" events in Praetoria, and a whole crap ton of other things scattered around (fyi, fitness is now inherent! enjoy having to respec 90% of your characters! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!)

A CoH2 could leave more room for interesting things to do.
Two options: Write a new engine, or modify the existing one.

It seems Paragon is more than happy to go with the "modify the existing one", because the other one takes much longer to see any return, will likely be canabalize their existing reliable source of income (with no guarantee of any return), and will result in additional overhead (another set of servers to run), and will take resources away from CoH.

They might be working on "CoH2", actually they probably are- but more so in the 'randomly tinkering around', and not a 'working hards towards a new product'. Most changes people want made for a 'CoH2' that'd be practical to do for a CoH2, would also be practical to retrofit on CoH1's engine (at the end of the day, the CoH1 engine won't look anything like it did before... but I think that's already a safe bet- comparing the i19.5 engine to i0? couldn't be more different!).
  22. Contact support, telling them that you need your security question reset.

I was able to get it reset by giving my name, address, last 4 digits of a credit card used, DoB, and account name (I wrote that I didn't remember my codes). I sent it in yesterday afternoon, and when I woke up this morning I had an email waiting for me to reset the security questions.
  23. The icon is stored in: "C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\" in either cohupdater.exe or cityofheroes.exe, either one of those will work.
  24. How is it illegible? It's looked perfectly fine for me for years. Maybe post a screenshot of what's wrong with it?

Edit: Woo! First post in like 6 months! MY WRATH UPON THIS WORLD HAS BEGUN ANEW!!!!

Edit 2: Oh, my bad, so they just changed the user agreement today... It's perfectly readable for me with the Heroes theme. I'd suggest posting a screen shot so the Devs will know about it.
  25. Most likely, Freedom, followed by Virtue (both in general population, and red side specifically).
