Returning after hiatus... what's fun to do now?

I've been gone for almost a year and wanted to know what some of you feel is fun to do in the game now? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you like new toons, and have the Going Rogue expansion, roll a new character in Praetoria. You can create any of the 10 non-epic ATs to start in a completely new world for levels 1-20. Some fun and interesting stories and new mission mechanics over there. Be warned, some would say its a little harder than the Primal starting zones.

For after level 20, there are new tip missions that give you the ability to switch sides, from hero to villain, or villain to hero and back. There are also a few new arcs in there as well.

For level 50, there is the Alpha Slot and incarnate stuff. The alpha slot is a way to continue your advancement past level 50 and expand your abilities more. After you've obtained that, you can slot it with various global enhancements and it opens up a few new task forces.

The majority of the new stuff is exclusive to those who bought Going Rogue. If you haven't, there are a few new things, but would still HIGHLY recommend picking it up, especially if new stuff is what you're looking for.

I just got back after ~5-6 months of being gone. The Going Rogue missions are awesome (I ordered a PPD officer to get me some tea on live TV, the look on his face was priceless).

There's pretty much 4 paths through Praetoria, two sides for Loyalists and two for Resistance, and you can 'swap sides' or even play 'under cover' (I've not done that so far, I've gone through most of the Responsibility arc).

All I've done on other characters was unlock the Alpha slot on my Fire/Kin (the story arc to do it is pretty fun... especially the opening mission!). There's a bunch of new Task Forces (with more coming in i20), a crap ton of fun "zone" events in Praetoria, and a whole crap ton of other things scattered around (fyi, fitness is now inherent! enjoy having to respec 90% of your characters! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!)

Step 1:
Get to Level 50

Step 2:
Get to Ouroboros.

Step 3:
Find Mender Ramiel (From the portal, right and then back)

Step 4:
Run Ramiel's Arc.

You'll love the first mish. Not going to spoil it for you though.
The next two missions can be...QUITE challenging.
The final mish is somewhat tough, but nothing too horrendous.

This unlocks your Alpha incarnate slot and gets you your first shard.

You can use them to build special global enhancers for the slot.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Very Cool! TYVM for the info. One last question is about the Shards... What are they?

Shards are components(that drop from mobs level 50+*) used to craft special incarnate salvage. That salvage is then used to actually make the Alpha "enhancements" themselves. You then slot the Alpha enhancement to take advantage of its bonuses. Someone else may be able to explain it better than me.

Once you've unlocked your Alpha, you can do the two new task forces. I haven't done Tin Mage yet, but Apex is highly recommended.

* As of i20, they will also drop when you're exemplared down.

Ignitros, if you're ever ingame and need information / assistance to supplement the great information the boards can offer, join the "N P C" channel and ask away.

It's aimed to help out new or returning players, even to the point of offering personal partnerships for a time. We're on all the servers, including Europe's, and have 150 registered volunteer mentors at this time.

Welcome back!

The LAST mission is a piece of cake, I'll agree that the second with Trapdoor and the third with the Honoree can be tough on some characters. The Honoree is a real PITA on a 'troller; he's immune to some mez powers - like almost the entire Mind set.
