  1. The slots that weren't released with this issue are currently a total mystery to the playerbase.

In a few days, all the information that's public should be on Paragonwiki for your viewing pleasure.
  2. Using the NCSoft Launcher, or the old cohupdater? Also, just for clairty, the process's name would be "cityofheroes.exe".

I'd suggest posting a CoH Helper log & HiJack This log, to give us a better idea what's going on with your system.

ATM, you need Service Pack 3 for Windows XP to play.

You can either install that, or wait until the next patch, which is supposed to restore compatibility for your out of date and abandoned-by-Microsoft operating system.
  4. It being a 7200RPM HD is definitely not an issue (I play exclusively on a 5400RPM HD in my laptop without issue). Going to a Raptor or SSD will make loading faster (SSD far more so than any Raptor), but it shouldn't be having an impact on reliability in and of itself.

Unfortunately, I don't really see anything that stands out... possibly try doing a verify, it can't hurt. Also, could try running Memtest86 on your RAM, although that's also a long shot... but if no one else has any better ideas...

I've had people do this with every TF/SF that has any sort of temporary powers involved. It's not really something unique to these badges in any way... And hell, most people don't even know about the badges, so most won't ever do that, and those that do will likely learn fairly quickly that getting ten on a single character on a single run is extremely unlikely to happen, and logically conclude that's not how it works.
  6. The Strike Force needs to first be unlocked by getting a random 'tip' (doesn't count against the standard tips), you should be introduced to the contact at the end of that. Not sure where the contacts themselves are for either, though (Pwiki doesn't say yet).
  7. You have to have started CoH using the NC launcher to have the wisp aura available in the character creator, that part doesn't appear to be sticky.

Mind you, you get infinite jump, so you can just press it at any time and start jumping as well! The recharge isn't that lengthy (2 minutes, iirc?).
  9. So your problem isn't with the badge, but you think people are too stupid to understand it? ... Are you just trying to cover because you didn't understand it?

I have a feeling that anywhere from a week - a month the vast majority of Lambda runs will be going off without a hitch, once people are at all familiar with how they go down.

If you're really paranoid, make sure all your drivers are up to date before you update, and that your machine isn't crawling with all kinds of malware from being a year or more behind on security updates. Then again, if you were really paranoid, you'd have already updated a long time ago...
  11. You need to upgrade to Windows XP Service Pack 3. You also need Windows XP Service Pack 3 to continue receiving SECURITY updates for Windows (actually, you've needed it since last june, when Microsoft officially dropped SP2).
  12. There appears to be a bug with them not providing the buff on the trials, but normal content appears unaffected.
  13. AFAIK, your whole team would have to not use any of them (otherwise it'd be damn hard to get TEN of 'em!). It sounds more like a Master of run than anything.

So wait, which badge on that list are you talking about? None of them look like they have anything to do with griefing.

FYI, I already beat Lamda on a pug
  15. I don't believe so. Otherwise, I'd have my +1 by now

Make sure mouseover tips aren't disabled in your normal settings- that could be the cause of your issue (also, setting the timer lower than the default is also often helpful). They were working for me earlier.
  17. I don't think it exists... but it'd certainly be nice.

A "leaguenext" command would also be very good (that goes by the order on the big list, so you won't need 24 binds to get everyone...).

Agreed, I think it'd be good to try to make it so the temp travel powers would work (after all, Ninja Run works in it, and I believe the Jump Pack did as well).

Now you've crossed the line. That's just wholly unreasonable, and I now have to reject everything you ever have, or ever will support.

Post in the Tech Issues forum with your reason, and we most likely can help you out. Just saying 'BLAH BLAH BLAH THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!' won't be of any good.

(ServicePack3 is now required to play the game.)
This (except replace "Windows XP" with "XP without SP 3").

And for extra motivation to upgrade to Windows XP Service Pack 3, all support for Windows XP Service Pack 2 was killed off just about a year ago, including security updates (no, "I have antivirus" is not an excuse to forgo security updates... antivirus is your LEAST effective means of defense!).

If you're having issues upgrading to Service Pack 3, check the Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs section of the forums, and post there if you can't find another thread about that problem already. We should be able to help you solve any problems you're facing.

They aren't allys, but pets. So no, there is no penalty for using them... but they aren't permanent (as in, you can't have them out 24/7, similar to the patron pets).

Edit: Like Zombie Man says, you get the henchman controls and such... except they aren't permanent (as in, no duration) like MM pets are. Not sure if they follow you when zoning, either... hopefully they do.

Edit: Actually, it's sort of my fault, but still a change in behaviour. If it run the update without any switches, it works, but if I run it with -launcher than I have to specify an auth server to avoid the "unnamed" server. Still, it worked yesterday with -launcher and without -auth. Serves me right for all the unsupported fiddling really
-launcher is a special flag we're not supposed to be manually using And I'm fairly certain it provides no benefits from repeated use...

    or
    Code:
    "C:\Program Files\city of heroes\cohupdater.exe" -launcher -auth 64.25.36.15
for the EU or US versions of the game respectively (obviously change the path if you haven't installed CoX to "C:\program files\city of heroes\").

Can't verify that the US version uses the same auth server (or even that you need to specify it), so it might not work but someone with a working US version and a copy of Process Explorer should be able to get the right authserver IP

May break at any time. I take no responsibility for anything, etc.
The US updater needs no special flags, and, still works perfectly fine. AFAIK, that -auth parameter tells the game to use the EU authenticator server instead of the US one. A shortcut created to launch CoH back in i6* would work just as well now.

    * And probably i0, but I wasn't around back then so can't say for 100% sure.

That's simply silly. The game uses GetLogicalProcessorInformation() to find out information about the processors/cores makeup of your computer, i.e. which cores are on a single processor, how many processors you have, and how many cores- this is important to know for threading, and making the game FASTER and MORE RESPONSIVE. It's not like they're looking through your address book, no need for totally misplaced paranoia.

Sounds like the driver is 100% to blame, not in any way NCSoft/NCLauncher/CoH. I'd suggest uninstalling the driver, then trying to upgrade to SP3, and then finding the latest version of the driver (not some crappy ancient one that came with the system), and installing THAT. If it's for an unused piece of hardware... just leave it gone.

Cohupdater.exe IS the old launcher! Just make a shortcut to it, or use your old shortcut to it, you can have both installed at once (hell, I still just use the old updater since it's already on my taskbar and I've been too lazy to switch it).

And that's not like it's going to fix your problem... Your problem is:
    1) A crappy driver (update it!)
    2) Refusing to upgrade to a 3 year old Service Pack (FYI, even Microsoft has already dropped support for you!)
    3) Those damn space pirates.
    4) ???
    5) Profit!

It'd be far faster to right click on the City of Heroes folder -> Properties -> Security tab -> Advanced -> Owner tab -> Edit -> (UAC prompt) -> Click on your user name (Or 'Other users or groups...' if it's not listed, then type your user name -> 'Check Name' -> OK), check Replace owner on subcontainer and objects -> OK -> OK -> OK, and you should be done- and now the permissions are appropriately setup, without having to copy several GIGABYTES of data.

NCLauncher really should check the permissions itself and adjust them automatigcally, I've no idea why they'd try the switch before they had it fully supported and all that goodness.
