Flashfox

This is getting frustrating. I can play foir a while then for no apparent reason, CoX crashes (image freezes, sound loops or stops, then error message saying that CoX needs to close as it crashed. Tried with almost all non CoX software turned off... same problem.

Any ideas???

I don't see anything in the hardware that would explain the crashing (and I wouldn't know what to look for in the HijackThis log).

Having said that, I would think your system is starved for RAM and bogged down by writing to the hard drive. You've got a high-end 6 core CPU. I see the BOINC application (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing, for everyone else reading this) running. How many threads are you letting that use? I have it running 8 threads and that's taking over 1.5GB of RAM right there.

I ask because you have only 4GB of RAM and, on top of that, the system can't access all of it because you have a 32 bit version of Windows. You've got a race car engine in the family minivan.

You're not alone. Same thing happens to me.

I'm wondering if it's a 32 bit issue, since the last updates.

Ironblade --> I always shutdown (not pause) BOINC when I play so that's not the issue. As for RAM, there is nothing much I can do without moving to the 64-bit version of Win 7. This being said, you do have me wondering about memory... I'll create a profile where ONLY CoX and core items are loaded. I'll see if I still have these problems. One other area to investigate is my primary HDD. It's a 7200 RPM drive (used to be a 10,000 RPM Raptor). I might switch to a VelociRaptor or a SSD.

BTW, running Win 7's Performance Information Tool, I get scores above 7.6 out of 7.9, except for the primary HDD which drags the number down to 5.9. My CPU is OC'd to 3.8 GHz/core and my memory is running at 1066 MHz (effective).

It being a 7200RPM HD is definitely not an issue (I play exclusively on a 5400RPM HD in my laptop without issue). Going to a Raptor or SSD will make loading faster (SSD far more so than any Raptor), but it shouldn't be having an impact on reliability in and of itself.

Unfortunately, I don't really see anything that stands out... possibly try doing a verify, it can't hurt. Also, could try running Memtest86 on your RAM, although that's also a long shot... but if no one else has any better ideas...
