There. I knew there was a way to do it.
    Thanks, Rodion.

Completely solves the problem for 90% of the arguments in this thread. I think?

    So: /unsigned.
Fine, pet upgrades only last four minutes, but from now on, pets are immune to damage that whole four minutes.

    On a more serious note...

Pets drop a whole lot faster than their summon recharge can keep up anyway. Especially in the new content. So in many cases, yes- those buffs are gone in less than four minutes. Sometimes the pet dies before the second buff is even applied! That means 80% endurance has just been flushed for nothing.

It's only fair that if everyone else can buff for no extra cost, MM's should be able to, too.
  3. I hate to say it, but if buffs on screen make you sick/give you medical problems, this MAY not be the game for you.

People running around, powers blasting, Masterminds all over the place, enemies... It's a lot of chaos and a lot of colors even before adding the buffs.

If you're a seizure risk or something, it's a bad idea to be playing to begin with, forget buffs on your character.

And I could be wrong, but isn't there an option in the graphics to suppress buffs anyway?
  4. Go check the tech support forum.

Many people had no website access for a good two months, aside from hacks and proxies.

    Just something to consider.
  5. I can say I've never seen anything except for common and uncommon on my Masterminds.

    Not once.

Why are you willing to punish the former, but feel the latter should never be punished?
    It's a good question.

My answer, personally? Because one's using it as designed (bad yes, but that's how it's designed) and one's not.

If you use something the "wrong" way, you should expect that you might encounter issues. In this case, that issue is having the system give you an extra member or two.

We both agree that it's a bad design. My problem is, why are we punishing the ones using it as designed, at least until it's fixed?

I agree with you. But kicking someone that got put in because of the dev's mistake and not their own doesn't fix it.
  9. It's sad when players need a manual to explain basic concepts of politeness to them, in my opinion. I suppose I really shouldn't be surprised. It's the Internet, after all.

I'll reiterate my point, since it's getting overlooked for "There's no rule in the manual against being rude, so it's okay."

A person shouldn't be penalized for using the system as intended. It's no more complex than that.

I'd really like to hear this.
At this point I'm starting to think you're trolling me, but I'll respond anyway.

Kicking you off the team because you're a troll, or a leech, or griefing, is the intended use of the feature. Kicking you off the team because "Nah, I don't like how the system works, but I'm going to keep using it anyway, and I don't care if it affects your gameplay." is not the intended use.

Other posters are right that, like it or not, we SHOULD have been given a way to lock our leagues so others won't be placed in it. Until then, kicking a person because you're having a hissyfit that the change is not implemented is not the intended use of kick.

(EDIT: also known as the real reason the wait times listed as less than 1 min or less than 5 minutes are UNREALISTIC since everyone and their mama are forming up BEFORE queuing.)
Don't get me wrong. I'm not making an argument that the system doesn't need to be changed- it does.

I'm arguing that kicking you from the trial because I want to 10 man it or 8 man it isn't the intended use of the kick feature, and doesn't solve anything- it only hurts your chance to do the trial.

The developers aren't a moral agent, and their intentions are not a measure either of right or wrong.

Furthermore it relies on an interpretation - really, an extrapolation - of the developer's intent out from the design of their system. The fact that there's no 'league lock' button doesn't necessarily mean they don't want any private leagues. The fact that there's a kick button may mean that their intent actually is for you to kick people to maintain privacy instead!

But either way what the developers intend really doesn't matter. It's their job to provide us with an entertainment service, not to be arbiters of morality for us.
No. It's not an interpretation or extrapolation. The current system sticks us in a group with everyone else that's using the system. That's how it works.

Is it a flaw? Maybe. Is it intended? Maybe. Can argue that all day, but in the end, it doesn't matter if we like it or not. That's what it does. If we don't want it to do that, we have to make threads (or contribute to), here in suggestions, saying so.

Kicking people from my league will not change that, it'll just frustrate the people I kicked.

If I don't like how it works, I won't use it until it's fixed. If I choose to use it, I'll put up with the issues associated with it. Want to get into an iTrial? Get used to teaming with PUGs. - That is, if/until it's changed,.
  13. I gotta wonder why there's so much arguing in this thread... It's really very simple.

If we don't like how the LFG tool works (and consequently, the raids connected to it), we make suggestions to hopefully get it changed. Until then, if we choose to use it, we're stuck using it the way it is.

If I'm trying to use it differently (create private leagues by kicking people) before these features (bugs?) are changed, I'm using it in an unintended manner, inconvienencing (or worse) people that are using it correctly.

That puts me in the wrong.

Why is this concept so hard to grasp?

Edit to add: If I don't like a suggestion being made- tough. It's the suggestions forum. This is what it's here for, and ultimately, it's for the devs to decide. I can make a counter suggestion, and give a quick reason why. There shouldn't be more than that going back and forth.
  14. I would like to chime up and repeat a question asked in the other thread- if you've been in regular contact with the web team all this time, how come you didn't TELL us, but instead let us scratch our head and troubleshoot and connect through proxies for weeks, wondering what the issue was?
  15. I was one of the ones having problems, and it seems to be working now.

These aren't very high level tactics or even intelligent plays that require practice. No, it's not as easy as a brute who can toggle up and go, but you knew that going in. Masterminds are not "button mash until the enemy is dead." A Mastermind is a high performance vehicle; you can do incredible things if you do it correctly, but the controls are touchy and if you don't know what you're doing, you'll get yourself killed.
Pets summon in defensive follow by default. Which means, particularly in trials, the moment they're summoned, they're going to rush forward and attack the last thing that sneezed at you. Now, you have what, three options?

    1. Smack your follow bind/macro a billion times and hope it works (we all know pet AI and response time, particularly on melee pets, is terrible) before they get close enough to get AOE one shot killed.

    2. Spam 'passive/stay' (and hope it takes) and lose BG mode, which can often have you face planted faster than a Blaster.

    3. Completely take yourself out of combat, wait for any and all debuffs to fade, then summon, then go back into combat.
Thing is, that whole time you were standing around with your finger up your nose, you could have been contributing in some fashion (we do have secondaries, after all). Which leads me into the "trial rewards based on contribution nonsense" and while it's not truly leeching, it's not exactly carrying your weight, either.

The point is, all three completely shut down our primary powerset for a while, or worse- get us killed. If our secondaries were on par with other secondaries, this wouldn't be so bad. But they're not.

Really, to say that MM's are overpowered in all content all the time, I think you've either never really played MMs, or you've only ever played one min/maxed MM build.
  17. Masterminds, as a whole, don't need a buff.

The pets should at least be on par with Lore pets, though.

If you summon your pets and they're dead before you even manage to cast an upgrade on them, you're not "doing it wrong", there's something wrong with the fight or the pets that needs to be changed.

    Crashing daily

I seem to have solved it by wiping my entire hard drive and replacing Vista with Windows 7, still 32 bit.
  19. Today I've got the forums, no issues.

I've been back and forth with support, who have been giving me all the standard BS... Try it without your router... Restart your computer... Clear your cache... One idiot even told me to go to the NCSoft site. Didn't even read the email, apparently.

They're refusing to even consider that it might be on their end.
  20. Today I can access the forums- I've changed nothing on my end.

I wish they'd tell us what they changed on their end today.

    Crashing daily

The game is quickly turning unplayable.

At random times- in missions, loading screens, out in the world, the game just freezes. Complete lock up, with no error messages or warnings.

This is after a problem that required I do a repair on the game. The repair fixed the previous issue, but apparently created this one.
(Previous issue was a corrupt .pigg file)

The game's locked up, and if I click once anywhere on the screen, I get the not responding popup, everything goes gray, and then the game shuts down. This already cost me rewards from a BAF trial, which is very frustrating.

  22. I was wrong about the DNS thing- the problem is persisting, no matter which DNS server I use.
  23. I seem to have fixed it by trying different DNS servers. The default with Comcast was bad, as was Google's DNS.

Open DNS seems to be working, though.
  24. That's why I suggested AoE immunity- at least in the trials. Someone said they already have half; apparently that's not enough.

The AI is wrecked. Ranged pets are in melee, and melee pets have the defense of a wet tissue.

Instead of completely redoing the AI and whatever else, wouldn't it be simpler to buff 'em a little, in trials?

I even had a raid leader say that MM's are worthless in the raids, because the pets are always dead.
  25. New issue- game crashes out to desktop with no error message.

And there hasn't been a single reply to this issue besides "It's also happening to me"? Does that mean this is expected behavior?
