I don't have a solution to this, but I can vouch for it happening. It's been happening to my Demon Summoning/Storm MM all day coming out of AE missions in Sharkhead. I've gotten the fall into the invisible map more often than the freeze during zoning, but both have become annoyingly common today.
This happened to me three times last week. (Whole zones disappearing.) I posted here about it. It was just like you said, all I could see was NPCs and doors. And i was falling. endlessly falling. If i tried to move anywhere but to the door I came out of, rubberbanding. (jet pack fixed falling) I was given advice here how to try to solve it by starting a diagnostic procedure. I really really hate diagnostic procedures. I reloaded the entire game. Twice. That took all night. That problem hasnt reappeared. But that could be luck, or fate, or Shivans busy elsewhere.
New issue- game crashes out to desktop with no error message.
And there hasn't been a single reply to this issue besides "It's also happening to me"? Does that mean this is expected behavior?
I had falling on invisible map few times so far. And some of my friends also had that (different computers, different OS).
Think that is some kind of the bug, but always forget to petition it, since I am usually in the middle of TF when that happens and in hurry to re-log.
"If you want to win you must not lose."
"Easiest way to turn defeat into a victory is to put on the enemy's uniform"
"Better strategic retreat than dishonorable defeat"
Since issue 20, I've had two problems. Most common is that randomly during the course of playing, some sound effect will get stuck on a loop and I'll get a crash popup. Gives me the option to allow the game to crash or not. Both options crash the game, regardless.
Second issue is maps, and even whole zones (yesterday it was Sharkhead) are gone. Nothing but sky, npcs, and doors load. If I step into a mission map, it clears up. Step outside, it's back. Or vice versa. A relog solves it until the next time it happens.
For the first time today, the game stopped responding while switching zones.
I also noticed (and this prompted me to do a repair, twice) that when playing as my Necromancy Mastermind, my Lich sometimes spouts off very Thug-like comments when given commands. Made me think my install was bad. Which is why I've used the NCSoft launcher to do repairs a couple times now, without solving any of the problems.
I've updated my graphics drivers a couple months ago (last release was January- I think it said the 18th), so they are up to date.
Is there anything else that could cause this?
Windows Vista 32-bit
4 gigs RAM (I know 32-bit can't use it all, but it uses enough)
nVidia 9800 GT (1 gig)
AMD Athlon dual core, 3.0 GHz
helper and hijack will come next, but until the issue with forum loading is fixed, I just wanted to get this thread started while I still had a connection.
