Quote:Unless Manga has information we don't, there's still the chance they'll have some fix out beforehand for the market and/or the launcher. I don't see what's the hangup with the launcher (other than likely having to get some other division in NCSoft to actually do something), the issue should be relatively easy to fix (the code base should be tiny in comparison to CoH/the Windows Launcher).Wow. So it WILL be going live with no fix.
We were lied to.
The Market is quite likely to be fixable via a tiny bit of tweaking to the page source (we already know some fonts work, so it shouldn't be too obscenely difficult to get the Mac version to just fall back to that known-working font). -
Quote:If they have 27 Reward Tokens, they'll have lifetime access to the invention system. At under 27 tokens, you need to either become a VIP, or buy the 30 day invention license to be able to craft or use IOs.Thanks. I also read somewhere IOs become useless unless you pay for the right to use them. ouch!
Maybe it's time to respec those out and hand them to daddy!
Just for future reference (doesn't really apply to the situation you described): If you plan on alternating between being a VIP and Preem, but don't have 27 Reward Tokens, you can switch to your second build and just use SOs in that one, and switch between them based on your subscription status.
I'd recommend checking out the list on the page I linked in the previous post. For young enough accounts, there's also a reduced inf cap (you're probably past them on all the accounts, though).
Quote:>Owning 13 Reward Tokens grants the following to Premium Players: Access to Controller and Mastermind Archetypes
What? you haven't played a full year on the account, any mastermind you have will be disabled? -
What you keep depends on what tier in the Paragon Rewards Program you are, which depends on how much money you've given Paragon, basically.
As for the characters, once you drop down to Premium (since you've paid money), you'll have X number of character slot unlocks, and you get to use them to pick which characters you want to unlock. You get a base of 2 slots + however many others you've gotten (such as ones you've bought, or ones you've unlocked via being a VEAT, GR, and maybe other things as well). -
Hunt for more enemies and you should get another tip mission that lets you switch to Rogue. Make sure you're not already at your limit of tips you've got (it's a different type of tip mission, and you can only have X number of uncompleted tips at a time)*.
* This is unrelated to the time limiter, so you can definitely still do it right away even if you just did 5 in the last <20 hours. -
Posting a CoH Helper and HiJack This log might help.
My first guess would be an issue with your video cards drivers (or your video card is dying... hopefully not that). Go to nVidia's website and check for newer drivers- and even if you are current, it can't hurt to reinstall them just in case.
(I hope your claim of 'great graphics card' isn't totally serious... it's good, but it's a bit on the old side now) -
Have you actually seen testing that confirmed this? I've got the recharge alpha slotted, and... I'm fairly certain it doesn't impact the recharge rate!
-
Quote:Nope, I just made a typoWow, I totally missed that...so were they indicating that they would no longer have a Mac client, or that they would develop one independent of Transgaming?
I was talking about when they were first announcing the Mac client, they were partnering with Transgaming... The lack of that 'ner' swung the sentence in a totally different direction!
I do think they're working on a native client, but I only have circumstantial evidence (primarily opting to use Qt for the at least to embed the HTML rendering engine). -
Quote:It's by no means unlawful (if you claim 'free speech!', I would like to inform you that NCSoft is not the US government). It's also not really all that different than other EULAs, and it just gives them explicit power that they already implicitly had. That seems highly unlikely. First off all, it would be really bad publicity for them to attempt to implement such unreasonable (and possibly even unlawful) terms in their user agreement.
Have you read the current EULA? Probably not, no one ever doesParagon could say that if you send a PM to Positron saying 'Bamboozled' that he'll personally farm you to 50 on every character you ever make, and more than likely it would be years before someone noticed.
Don't expect any real changes wrt how NCSoft/Paragon act in regards to the playerbase. Giving them the ability to ban someone for any reason doesn't mean they'll be banning them for any reason... after all, each ban is money lost... unless the banned account would have driven others away (i.e. they were a ****** bag... like me).

Quote:They did give it away for free. The "Mac" box was just to commemorate the release and to get a new box on store shelves (plus, the nice Valkyrie goodies). That is pretty much the only non-collectors edition of CoH I don't have... and yet, I run it on a MacKnowing the issues they had with the client it would have been better off to give the client away for free and then users for mac would have nothing to expect back.
I'd imagine that the majority of the people that bought it had no intention of using the Mac client, and were just interested in the free month + Valkyrie pack + Mission Teleporter power.
They also had publicly said they were partnering with Transgaming, using their Cider wrapper. That really is a bit more technical than most people care for, though, so it didn't get a huge amount of attention. They weren't exactly trying to keep it secret.
Edit: Corrected "parting" to "partnering"... that totally changed that sentence! Damn typos... -
Quote:I think it's quite reasonable to fix the font issue in 4 days... for values of 'fix' that are equal to 'work around'. We know at least one font works, so switching everything to that (even just for Mac clients) should be a good enough stop gap solution.Well, you have four days. :/
If the VIP headstart launches without this being fixed I don't think I can properly describe how let down I'll feel.
The other issue, though, is the broken updater. I wouldn't think that'd take a long time to fix, so I bet (hope) that's already been fixed in an internal version. -
Quote:You could do it for fun...Why would you waste your time building a second Lore pet?
Granted, if you already have a VR Lore, there's not much reason to be on a BAF anyway, I guess.
But, quite frankly, the BAF is no where near hard enough (including the prisoner phase) that this is too big of a concern. If you have a VR Lore, you're likely already built out to the gills and having the Lore pet out for only part of the time shouldn't make a massive impact on your likelihood to succeed. -
I'm fairly certain that we'll need an update to the NC Launcher to fix that, as the problem is it not having appropriate error checking (i.e. it explodes parsing user.reg), as well as it trying to read from user.reg for inexplicable reasons...

The T4 has a 10 minute, as opposed to 15 minute recharge, so the buff pet would be out for a higher percentage of the time (1/2 instead of 1/3). The damage pets are out for the same percentage of time (1/3rd), but at the very least, it also does quite a lot more damage.
Diviner Essence:- Mental Blast - 4s Recharge - DPA (101.34) / DPCC (21.39)
- Dominate Mind - 6s Recharge - DPA (262.39) / DPCC (37.48) - 25% chance Mag 3 hold
Auger Essence:- Mental Blast - 4s Recharge - DPA (216.18) / DPCC (45.62)
- Levitate - 6s Recharge - DPA (535.67) / DPCC (46.47)
- Dominate - 8s Recharge - Mag 3 hold
Since the pets won't have a gapless attack chain by any stretch of the imagination, I'd consider the DPCS (damage / cast cycle) to be the most useful number, as opposed to the DPA, which are both larger for the Auger. Plus, the Auger has a guaranteed mag 3 hold. Definitely a nice enough improvement, I'd say -
Quote:DxNot as bad as standing at the exit part of the train station ranting in team chat about how lag is messing with the damned trains.
I felt so stupid when I realized I had stood for about 20 minutes at the exit of a train station... (I didn't even realize until a good while later that was what happened, I just gave up and went off somewhere else in the zone)
Fortunately, I've never vendored an expensive recipe before. I'll always make sure to put them on WW and just have the crappy ones with me when I do a vendor run, just in case! -
Quote:This isn't an issue specific to you or the OSX client- I'm getting it as well on Windows. Looks like the servers are just downHm. Now with today's patch, I can get to the login screen, but then it freezes when I hit "Log In". After several tries I decided to just let it hang for a while, and eventually it unfroze and said it couldn't reach the server. Last night, it was down all night (but I'm told it was up long after my bedtime), now it's down even harder than last night. Whee.

If you're at least tier 8 VIP, you get 550 PP free every month. Check out <insert forumer's name here>'s guide to the reward levels. Long as you're not interested in the powers, it's definitely a net win... even if you're not interested in some of the powers but are in others (i.e. I already have the GvE Jump Pack... I don't really need a second!)

Broken for me as well still. Installed to the default location (Applications), running the latest Lion release. I've not had any crashes, although I've not really tried to push it that hard.
-
Yep, this. The Musculator Alpha slot is the only thing that can impact Judgement- but not even that has an impact on Reactive.

I ended up rolling an Elec/Earth, for basically the reasons already listed. Plus, I decided to go for an 'elemental' theme, so it worked out quite well
One thing I noticed, though, is that in the character creator, in the 'real numbers' for Synaptic Overload, it says that the confuse duration wobbles between somewhere around 25 and 30, going from 25 to 30 and dropping down multiple times as you level up... is the power actually bugged and the duration drops down at various places as you level up? Or are the real numbers just buggy? Or is that actually just a weird mechanic and actually intended? -
Th Devs are well aware that we want henchmen customization... like Power Customization before it, it requires a lot of work... hopefully that work isn't backburnered
Just for future reference, for requests for specific costume items be added to the game, ask in (Sexy) Jay's Costume Request Thread. -
But what if I wanna play now, not a year from now?
Bookmark the real paragonwiki, not the evil goatee wearing wikia one!
Even me?
Quote:"Anyone who tells you you're playing wrong is wrong, but don't take well-meant advice as criticism."
(in all seriousness, what he said... especially the smilies part! seriously)

I'm in the mood to roll up another dominator, and this time I'm wanting something on the Blappery side. In the past I've played a Fire/Fire (39), Mind/psi (45), and Plant/Psi (45), although nothing in the last year+.
If you're wanting to go melee heavy, what Dom secondaries can provide that experience? Is /Earth really the only one that you can reasonably go all out with the Melee attacks without having to resort to ranged attacks at point blank?
To add to that, do any of the primaries have any extra synergy with a melee centric dom playstyle? -

Quote:This is due to Controllers being a mez using AT. That's actually intentional, as Controllers have a higher value for that sort of thing inherent to their AT (the power is actually exactly the same between the three ATs, but, it's modified based on the AT's modifiers). But on a Controller, we have:
-50% Damage
-500% Regeneration
-62.5% Secondary Effects
-5% Endurance
...what?
Is this an anomaly in the power itself or in the Detailed Info pane? For reference all of these numbers were taken from the character creator.
I'm also fairly certain that wouldn't be too large of a benefit for trying to solo AVs and such (although it can't hurt). -
Procs can definitely have a 100% chance in CoH. Look at things like Kismet: +Accuracy or Numina's unique. Those are procs with 100% chance to trigger (which is why they can double stack on zoning, and various other things).
