I will keep subscribing but planning on going free for the kids, accounts.
where is the info on what you're left with once you go free? do loose your current characters (even if they're just "frozen) since premium accounts have only 2(?) slots, or do you get to pick what characters move on to the free game?
my kid's primary toon is a warshade, will he have to give it up be because only VIP players get EATs?
it's all very in unclear to me...

What you keep depends on what tier in the Paragon Rewards Program you are, which depends on how much money you've given Paragon, basically.

As for the characters, once you drop down to Premium (since you've paid money), you'll have X number of character slot unlocks, and you get to use them to pick which characters you want to unlock. You get a base of 2 slots + however many others you've gotten (such as ones you've bought, or ones you've unlocked via being a VEAT, GR, and maybe other things as well).

What? you haven't played a full year on the account, any mastermind you have will be disabled?

If they have 27 Reward Tokens, they'll have lifetime access to the invention system. At under 27 tokens, you need to either become a VIP, or buy the 30 day invention license to be able to craft or use IOs.

Just for future reference (doesn't really apply to the situation you described): If you plan on alternating between being a VIP and Preem, but don't have 27 Reward Tokens, you can switch to your second build and just use SOs in that one, and switch between them based on your subscription status.

I'd recommend checking out the list on the page I linked in the previous post. For young enough accounts, there's also a reduced inf cap (you're probably past them on all the accounts, though).

If you're not a VIP, I believe so (VIPs get them for free, as long as they're VIP). You can buy early access to them in the store, though (I think 800 points? Not sure if that's final price, though).

Guide: Premium Accounts and Paragon Rewards. -by me (I'll be moving it to the guides section after the head start.)

You get to choose which characters take the 2 global slots opened (or more depending on past/future character slot purchases + previous vet rewards + previous offers like having Going Rogue before the headstart).

Epic Archetypes (Hero or Villain) on a Premium Account: You have to buy access to those characters before you have assign a global slot to that character. The current price guide lists each EAT at 1,000 Paragon Points - separately. So if you want a PB and WS you'll have to spend 2,000 Paragon Points.

Controllers and Master Minds on a Premium Account: If you don't have the 5th Reward Tier filled, you'll have to unlock access before being able to assign a global character slot to that character. The current price guide lists each as 1,200 Paragon Points. You don't get those point refunded if you buy them early then fill the 5th Reward Tier.

Triumph: White Succubus: 50 Ill/Emp/PF Snow Globe: 50 Ice/FF/Ice Strobe: 50 PB Shi Otomi: 50 Ninja/Ninjistu/GW Stalker My other characters

actually the kids account are quite recent, just a few months, we bought the hype about being able to switch to premium, but right now the limitation on a young premium account feel rather staggering.

For Premium Players, Controllers, Masterminds, Kheldians and VEATs are all locked out, and cannot be unlocked, unless you have the appropriate licenses. All four are available for individual purchase (and are permanent unlocks). Controllers and Masterminds can also be unlocked with a high enough Reward Tier.

IOs can be used even if you don't have a high enough tier for a permanent IO license, if you purchase 30-day IO Licenses. They only cost $2 worth of points each, so for 10$, you can keep your IOs active for 5 months, even without a subscription (longer, possibly, since you should get some bonus points if you make a purchase of more than 400 points at a time).

Actually, it takes just under 3 years to unlock them at Freedom Release (you get one token per vet badge, plus one per full year, so you'd need 2 years, 9 months to unlock them). After Freedom goes live, yes, it will take one full year to unlock them. Controllers too.

Premium is not meant to be 'play everything for free'. Premium is meant to be 'select only the features you want to use and pay for them a la carte'. If you/the kids want a lot of those features, then a subscription is going to offer a much better deal than a la carte payments.

thanks, those links helped lot even though the kids are pretty disappointed to lose so much. we hadn't expected to lose existing ATs or have already equipped enhancements go gray.

Well, you can buy an invention license for the low price of approximately $2 worth of points a month. (Prices may change after launch, but are most likely to decrease if they do.) Purchasing those points will also count towards more rewards tokens. As long as your kids don't mind having access to fewer characters going Premium and buying enough points for the features they really want may be perfectly workable.

1. An IO liscence costs $2 bucks per month.

2. The kids can use their characters second builds for regular enhancements. No need to pull IO's off of builds.
