  1. To ensure blood is properly circulating, sit upside down in your chair (so your feet are up, and your head down), and then spin the chair rapidly, around many times. This will ensure all the fluids are properly drained from your feet, and pooling in your brain-meats.

((or maybe listen to advice from someone that has a clue what they're talking about, instead of me ))

    Finally...

When are the Devs going to stop being lazy and introduce max effects! When my super speedsters run, I want every step they take to look like a Nova has just gone off. I want Hasten to make you look like one of those Fireball spells. I want Brawl to make your character 45 feet tall for the duration of the animation.

    Screw minimum.
    Give me MAXIMUM!
  4. NEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRFFFFFFFFFFF! >=O

(someone had to call for it )

Dell and every other OEM have no trouble not formatting disks. Hell, my Dell laptop got sent in literally dozens of times (the entire model was defective... enough so that the had to recall it in Europe when they got in trouble). The only time I received it back with a fresh OS install was when they finally broke down and replaced it with a different model (which, fortunately never had to be sent in again... sadly, the POS ATI graphics couldn't actually handle CoH...).

Besides, that's what booting from external media is for

    Hahahaha... HP support...

I had just gotten a new HP laptop, and after about 3 days the GPU fried, so I sent it in to be fixed... they wiped the drive, and, somehow, switched out the screen for the wrong one... so after getting it back and realizing everything was WAY too big, and then fighting through their techs... was able to get them to let me send it back in, only for them to wipe the HD yet again... having to reinstall CoH and dozens of other applications repeatedly was quite annoying (fortunately didn't really have any accumulated data). It would appear that, regardless of what the reason is, standard operating practice is to nuke the HD with HP's people.

And that is why I love Time Machine Apple definitely got that one right... That's one feature that Microsoft needs to immediately rip off (they already have the low level stuff in place, just not the final unifying piece)
  8. AFAIK, nobody said that mez resist is going to be turned into damage rez. It might happen... but careful with assumptions

I think he meant the first sentence sarcastically, given the second sentence.

Of course, all the changes the Devs have made to the game so far were pretty easy...

Absolutely hilarious choice. It works perfectly.

  12. Sounds like lots of nice things. Disappointed that we'll have to wait to find out what the Tech Knight armor will look like... I guess I'll just have to start saving up my tokens for them now, just in case they're awesome.

It's because they've been in the Zig for so long that they don't know how to function out in normal society, and are actually afraid to actually leave... so they just stand at the edge, waiting to be taken back inside.

I think you just figured out the REAL thing this teaser is showing: We get the Seer flight pose in i24!
  14. Based on the descriptions... long as the numbers aren't total trash, and the animations aren't horrible, I'd be pretty willing to even pay 800 points for one of these sets. Although, at 800, I doubt I'd buy more than one. Just some numbers out of my ***, I might be willing to go with 2 for 600, and 4 for 400 a piece.

Based on how the Devs have been operating lately, I'd wager the numbers will be quite nice, and the animations likely fairly drool worthy.

I definitely like this suggestion. It certainly makes sense to use a quasi-predefined map for raiding (RP explanation: Different section of base, or even a different, more 'secure' base), letting the players choose a variety of defenses as well as having spots to put them.

Draw lots of inspiration from the Tower Defense games, and basically having a path (that can't be built upon), but leaving space around it for defenses. This would also allow the possibility of having NPC invasions, where you basically have a stream of them trying to break into your base, having to depend on a combination of your defenses and SG players to hold them off / do something.

There could be a few classes of items that could be built, including offensive turrets (wall turrets, big ones on the ground / ceiling, etc), defensive systems like 'shields' that block (a 'force field' that could be destroyed) / slow down (repel / knockback / slow field) / weaken enemies (any other debuffs). Each map would also have a maximum amount of placeable items (different items hit the quota a different amount).

Seems like it shouldn't be too insanely difficult to come up with a system that'd work fairly well for both NPC and player invasions. Hell, it could be recycled for player invasions of NPC bases as well (Mission Architect, baby! ).

Based on everything the Devs have said, I think the OP's assumptions (/source/whatever) are true, and that really the only way to 'fix' bases is to create a new system from scratch (that the old bases could be migrated to). Although, 2 engineers taking 6 months is probably on the conservative side of things (fragile systems like the base system is often have very convoluted data formats that have tons of oddities).

Until a red name comes out and basically says any of this is what's happening (or we get a reliable leak ), I think it's best to not start counting your chickens, and just continue on as if it's not going to happen.

Edit: Redlynne scooped me on the MA part! The fact that it could potentially be recycled for multiple things is probably the biggest pro to the whole thing.

  18. The SSA doesn't take place along the leveling time-line, but is independent of it. Akin to how Galaxy City going boom doesn't happen at 50, it's now happened in the past.

It also messes with the doppelgängers technology used in that hero TF... if you successfully confuse one of the shadow doppelgängers, once it ends, they un-shadow!

It would also make an interesting player power... use it on an enemy to summon a clone of your target (except at one rank below their natural rank). Might be a bit OP when used against enemies with cheat-powers (I'm looking at you, Hamidon!).
  20. So... Almost like the Free-Form power system is making a come back after almost a decade after being killed? We all know how that turned out the first time through!

    /snark

Okay, with that out of the way, it seems like it could be done in some form (maybe not so overtly), especially if combined with alternative animations... and, maybe, down the road, being able to use/not use weapons to 'cast' the ability (such as using a magic staff to heal an ally, or what have you).

The Devs have been pretty good with being able to pull off ideas that seem quite impractical (given enough time), so maybe they have more future plans for the power pools beyond what we know now.

Anyone that takes 'fix everything' as completely literal will make a fuss anyways, so trying to put disclaimers on it is a bit silly. Anyone that puts a cat in a microwave to dry it, will put it in there whether or not there's the stupid sticker.
