Could Power Pools become miniature powersets?

The title comes from the recent revelations about the Fighting Power Pool being redesigned to become a 'miniature Street Justice'. I got to wondering if Power Pools can be added to and expanded upon to provide variety to powersets that didn't exist before.

Some thoughts I had were:

'Titan Strength': A small supplement of Titan Weapon animations/attacks that can be used out of Super Strength to simulate super-strong types using the environment to beat on folks. They obviously wouldn't be as powerful as Titan Weapons, but it'd supplement regular Superstrength powers or even replace some.

'Speed Combat': Combining and changing some animations/powers to show the combative side of a speedster. These would include a version of Shield Charge, Whirlwind, and Flurry all to simulate a speedster's ability to attack quickly. Even the 'teleport' attack from the recent Martial powers for blasters would work here.

'Weapons Expert': Used as a supplemental to Claws, Dual Blades perhaps a few other Scrapper sets, this could involve borrowing a few cross-pollinated powers and animations from other sets to provide variety to regular sets.

These are the ones that occur to me...what do people think? Could there be more? Would these be unbalancing?

So... Almost like the Free-Form power system is making a come back after almost a decade after being killed? We all know how that turned out the first time through!

Okay, with that out of the way, it seems like it could be done in some form (maybe not so overtly), especially if combined with alternative animations... and, maybe, down the road, being able to use/not use weapons to 'cast' the ability (such as using a magic staff to heal an ally, or what have you).

The Devs have been pretty good with being able to pull off ideas that seem quite impractical (given enough time), so maybe they have more future plans for the power pools beyond what we know now.

Do we get guns for a couple ranged attacks?
I have a set of toons that go together that are all scrappers and one is going to be a stalker. but the stalker one might now be a blaster with the new martial set. Would much rather have a melee offense/armor with some guns on the side then dual pistols/martial with no armor. kinda makes him feel weak to his "brothers" when he's getting mezzed all the time and cant take a hit like they can.

We've only seen 2 potential "specialized" power pools from leaks with no guarantee they will make it to live. With that said, this seems to be what's intended in the future. Power Pools would sell better than regular power sets because players can potentially use them on all their characters if they wish (through use of a respec of course) instead of having to make a new character to level.

One thing I think many people may not be aware of is that the "specialized" power pools were listed with a limitation that states "NOTE: This is a Specialized Power Pool. You can only have one Specialized Power Pool in your build." which means that total "free form" won't exactly be possible. But that doesn't mean these pools won't create a vast variety of potential new builds! And of course the devs could possibly nix that limitation if and when they release these pools.

There were two? I only saw the one that people keep asking about.

funny, i heard rumors of a third from a good source and with that choo-choo on track it looks to be five total when all done.

I've only found data for two... I fully expect there to be more because I am confident that these will be big sellers because it's an account unlock that can affect more than just newly made characters.

I'm planning on buying them when they come out. I'm saving my points for them, in fact.

I mean, I like the concept behind many of the new powersets (particularly Titan Weapons, Beast Mastery, Water Blast, and possibly Bio Armor), but I've already got four or five characters I'm leveling (including one I did buy a powerset for, my Staff/Dark Brute) and four I'm getting Incarnate powers for (including my newly-50'd Mastermind), so a new power pool that I can use with any of those existing characters is much more interesting to me right now.

(It's why I'm so impatient that they almost seem to be saving information on the new pool or pools for last)

There are two that were leaked. However the only source of info on one of them is the Wikia version of the CoH Wiki so search at your own risk (and preferably with good spyware/virus protection).

Hm, if those Wikia powers are correct... then, yeah, I want these even more now. (The T5 in each seems a little powerful, but I suppose that's balanced by having to take two other powers to get to it, none of which are extraordinary)

The only question is whether we'll have to buy each power pool separately, or get them all as a Power Pool Pack. (And I'm sure that question will be answered in due time)

I'm fairly sure the pools will be sold individually. The devs tend to want to give players the option to buy a la carte to their taste. That said, there's no reason they couldn't have both individual pool purchases and a bundle with a slight discount. Just expect that individually these pools are probably going to cost 600 points each. A full power set of 9 powers costs 800 points and I doubt the devs would sell these for 400 or even 500 since they technically have 6 powers with the dual purpose travel powers. A bulk pack would probably have a pretty high cost even with a bulk discount.

Based on the descriptions... long as the numbers aren't total trash, and the animations aren't horrible, I'd be pretty willing to even pay 800 points for one of these sets. Although, at 800, I doubt I'd buy more than one. Just some numbers out of my ***, I might be willing to go with 2 for 600, and 4 for 400 a piece.

Based on how the Devs have been operating lately, I'd wager the numbers will be quite nice, and the animations likely fairly drool worthy.
