Heh I forgot about the STF - I got sick of it because my Brazilian coalition always wanted my mind/emp to go for Mo attempts - I was called the 'best healer' there but I barely healed, it's just that controllers are superior to defenders in almost every way and the other empaths were all defs
IIRC the STF can be run from 45-50, you may want to check paragon wiki. Although Nucleolus are much cheaper than a lot of stuff you have planned, you may get lucky with a Microfilament or Enzyme which are very expensive. -
Well I'd say they are more fragile than trollers because trollers aren't causing as much aggro and most have a self heal and debuffs. But they're far safer than most blasters.
As I said, some secondaries (Stone, energy) have plenty of mitigation with stuns, holds, knockdown. And if you're leveling an elec control/elec assault, you'll be draining mobs way faster than an elec/elec blaster, which is another form of mitigation, even elec controllers live in melee because the elec control primary, no matter what secondary, is the best end drainer in the game, or at least the only one that are able to drain on DOs (some combos like elec/therm corrs are good drainers but they need IO sets and expensive builds).
In some cases i like to pick aid self (plant/thorns for example, since she plays a lot like a spines scrapper with a control primary), in others I don't feel the need for it )elec/fire, pure ranged dom I have, and my purpled ice/psi who has drian psyche so I didn't even need stamina to go to 50 when it wasn't inherent). -
Isn't that a lovely username!
TW/Sr is a good combo and the 1st attack boosts your melee defense. The reason you see so many ELAs and WPs (as I see too) is because people are scared of TW's endurance costs. But they're not that bad from what I've seen with friends using other armors and can work perfectly with Sr. -
There are a lot of odd slotting there that may cause endurance issues.
Lightning Field has very bad slotting, you want acc, damage and endred there, and you only have 39% damage, little more than a SO's worth. My usual slotting for damage auras when I'm short on slots is 2 multi strikes (acc/dam/end and dam/end) and the same from Sciroccos, which give 42% acc and 91% dam/endred. You have to think about how to slot your powers efficiently before chasing certain bonuses - in some cases you won't be able to have a desired bonus in a few slots because it just isn't good for the power to have low damage, low endred, etc.
Power Sink only has 21% recharge - you can almost cap endmod and recharge (91%) with two endmod/rech and two endmod/acc/rech from the two sets that go to 50.
Energize really benefits from maximum recharge.
Your toggles have little to no endreduction (including lighting field), that's not good even on a /ELA. Tactics and Maneuvers are heavy on the blue bar - and the BU proc in Tactics is almost worthless.
Since you have plenty of accuracy, I'd trade the tohit IO in BU (Combat Readiness) for the Rech one so you'l have 88% rech instead of 47%.
The global recharge is up to you, I find it good enough, permahasten is not like permadom which is night and day - a good Alpha for this build would be Agility imo (just got it on my Stalker) because it raises your defense, your recharge and the endmod powers, allowing lighting field to drain a bit and power sink to be more efficient.
Oh and the microfilament is not needed on L. Reflexes since LR costs no end, itll help your jump speed a bit but a straigh Run IO will be more effective overall. Micros were very expensive last I checked because pvp people slot 2-3 of them in travel powers.
But if you want to have the optimum attack chain for StJ you'll probably need more recharge both global and in the powers - since I don't know about these because I don't solo pylons and stuff, you'd have to ask Werner or some other scrapper math guru -
Quote:That's stating the obvious - some armor has this or that weakness.I reserved a mission so that if anyone wishes to try it they can which is quicker for them than finding it, I have knocked up an AE mish to try also which might come close.
It's about a Tanker primary and how it compares to other Tanker primaries and this is about Tankers having most its abilities wiped from one debuff. Not every Tanker gets build up and when so much is need of an accuracy check there is a clear disadvantage. Using 9 yellows to Dark Regen in a single group is a tall order.
You can come up with another faction for me to compare, I could just tank that other faction and say, that was alright. I haven't been mysterious about the factions and results of the tohit debuffs from them as the information is already in this thread.
When it comes to SR anything with KB/KD powers in their secondary has an advantage. I tank every AV going with SR scrappers as it is, what it is I am currently doing is leveling a SR Tanker to see if it feels balanced enough.
In more than one occasion, my dm/da scrapper had to take the lead because the psi mobs were eating the Ice tanker alive, same for an Invul on another arc, both in PI. They were relegated to 'kill minions stunned with OG' while I was pounding the bosses since I was DM and thus Single-target focused.
Same way my db/elec scrapper had to 'tank' the whole Synapse TF because she had capped (or near, I don't remember) energy res on DOs and the DA tank also on DOs suffered with all the clockwork.
Or how /SRs are scared of the... well that Rularuu place I forgot the name while my mind/emp controller soloed a ton of missions on Invincible because nobody wanted to go there with me -
Quote:Heh, I always forget that about Thunderstrike (the 100% part, and you told me that before). And you're right I did AS mobs on my elec/regen after LR, but it's been a long time and now he's a lowbie Elec/EA.Some nitpicks - currently Fireball from the APPs also has a 100% critical rate from hidden status, but I'm wondering how long those will last after i22. Thunder Strike has a 50% chance to critical on the AoE portion - the single-target part of it has a 100% critical rate, but since Lightning Rod also does knockdown you can usually get the Assassin's Strike off.
I'd recommend KM over EM because it has Burst for some AoE, regardless of the critical rate, and since you have a lot of control over Build Up's recharge with Concentrated Strike.
While I found I still like my Em/Nin tonight, KM is superior in every way, if ET refreshed BU I'd be delighted. And it still has Burst which would be better even with 50% crit. Too bad I dislike the animations...
Quote:No it still does damage.
I would suggest you stay away from regeneration on you stalker...its frustating to use
i suggest you try something like steet justice and ninjutsu
also get recall friend at level 4, and consider having hover
Hover is a very weird recommendation. -
Thanks, that's a very nice build!
But I don't have the billions for thatthe max I'll do eventually is add a Purple set to one of my attacks (I can also use 3 nucleolus/3 procs on AS since nucleolus are chepish - 30 mil - but idk if the procs are worth in a pve build in AS). Plus I'm done with the PvPs, I liked it better on my squishies and they were obsolete in i13 (because of their powersets - holds, slows, etc, made useless).
Plus I want to fit in fireball for some AoE and because it's broken and crits 100% from hide (who knows when it will get fixed but even then it's the best epic AoE for Stalkers right?)
Hmm I don't use Placate that often so if I'm able to get more AoE def and keep the recharge I'll leave it with the base slot. -
Ok so tonight I decided to Incarnate my first villain, EM/Nin, and decided that she still plays like a boss (meaning, I still like to play her lol, even on iTrials I found myself doing well after I got to 50+1 despite some corpse blasting). Got her T3 Agility and stuff. Even after the nerf, Heroststats showed I did 50% more damage per minute with ET than with TF
Thing is, her build has stamina and other shenaningans like Acro, 3 KB IOs, Stealth, Stealth IO, ya know the PvP stuffs. But she'll be my main villain from now on so I wanna respec her into a PvE build and need suggestions because I haven't done a /nin build in a long time.
I kinda like this one, but this one I just did is not capped on AoE, in fact far from, AoE is kind of a big deal on iTrials compared to the rest of the game. So... Help please? I don't need that much recharge if I can get AoE to like, 40% before Hide. Thanks!
(the HOs in Maneuvers are what I have for her in Stealth right now so I kept them).
EDIT: I'd also like your opinion on what to get on the other incarnate stuff, my other incarnate is all damage (SS/Fire with Spiritual, Ageless, Reactive, Pyronic, carnie pets just for Forge, he's more of an agricultural tool) - I don't need ageless in the build, maybe Barrier if I can't get the defense much higher. And I like Vorpal for theme but I don't know hoe good it is as in, if I can hit the target cap like Ion or Void - I'm good with cones btw but I don't know Vorpal's range.

Quote:Well the OP played controllers so he must be kinda familiar with control sets.great, so you have one aoe that will aggro a bunch of enemies unless someone has them taunted. It won't kill them, just make them angry.
Yes, "if you know what you are doing" is a great line which allows for anything.
Maybe it is just me, but I tend to assume that someone asking for advice and saying "Dominators are something I've always struggled with" does not know what they are doing.
YMMV
Plus there was plenty of advice on how to play them, yours seemed off to me because 'doms have low damage' and 'doms are too fragile'.
Well they aren't. As others said before, mez everyone and go to town, use your main ST hold as much as possible. If you feel like you need to use your primary only on teams, you're doing it wrong, since they are almost as damaging as scrappers and blasters. And they're MUCH safer than any blaster.
Saying that a Dom's damage won't make much difference is like saying your Scrapper, Stalker or Blaster isn't that good for damage and you'd better stand in the back.
Doms aren't multidimensional toons like trollers who have a myriad of buffs, debuffs and damage (especially after epics). Doms are simpler: control and damage, and *high* damage with plenty of mitigation in some secondaries too. If you feel too weak without a heal, you can always pick aid self, doms have more opportunities to use it than a rad/fire or fire/fire blaster. -
Some of us prefer to look at the actual number, you know, the seconds you gain from the third slot in powers like Hasten or the damage difference in a power damage capped instead of just thinking 'green is good'.
If you wanna make some things perma you have to go 'red' sometimes.
Edit: why's this in the Tanker forums? -
Quote:What? Dominator's Thorn Burst does almost the same damage as Scrapper Spine Burst. Fire Breath is also close to the Blaster version.Team:
dominator is more of a straight controller in a team. Use your aoe controls to hinder your foes, single target hold an important foe. Use single target attacks to help clean up. Unless you are playing with a tanker, your AoE attacks are probably a trap. Not enough damage to swing the battle but enough to make you a target.
And these two are the most damaging ATs in the game.
They even out damage Stalkers (Total Focus), so no, you don't play as controllers in teams, if you know what you're doing you'll be safe enough to melee and AoE mobs. -

Quote:Lol I didn't see other plant storms ingame but I'm glad my thread influenced people, they probably outleveled mine already since I don't play everyday and the altitis has been taking a toll on me. I had to resist rolling a DB/DA because of another thread (didn't buy TW).Another thread that has inspired an influx of a certain build. Seeing lots of TW/DA's at low level now.
Just like I was seeing plant/storms.
But DA is the armor I had the most fun to 50 and I have two baby brutes, claws and DM, just have to take them out of that stupid deserted Praetoria... -
Quote:I have a few 50s that I don't care anymore so only one is incarnated... I took a 1.5 yr break and when I return I've been like...Grazz! That's something I need to try and do, get toons to 50... but it's not a self-imposed extra set of rules that's keeping me from doing it but altitis and a so-far non-medically diagnosed case of hey is that a squirrel?
- Ooo the new fury is great I'll reroll my 50 DM/DA into a brute - 15 levels later - Damn this Praetoria is boring, lemme try a dual pistols toon hero side,
- *rolls DP toon* Damn DP sucks and I still don't like Blasters, but I love the animations, I know, Vampire Cowgirl corr DP/DM concept!
- *Gets to 22 after a few DFBs and Posis* - hey time manipulation and BR, time to make a master of slows ice/time and a BR/Poison!
- *Gets to 30* Damn poison sucks with BR, I'll reroll into traps.
- *Moar DFBs* Hmmm I love my old 35 ELM/Regen Stalker but he's so squishy, the new EA looks great, I'll reroll him into ELM/EA. But of course I have to play a good Regen toon and I got this great concept for a Katana/Regen! *buys vanguard Katana just because of the toon and she's 16 now after a month*
I have only played a toon at 50 in the last 6 months lol. -
1. I find Ninja Run good enough, but that's personal. It's worth noting that /ELA and /SR toons get more benefit from it because of the passive recharge and speed power. I rarely pick travel powers on any toon but I can say that my SR and ELA toons are very fast with NR because of the passive.
2. No, just talk to Arbiter whatshisname (sorry forgot) in Grandville and then talk to the Patron (Ghost Widow) and do her story arc, after that you'll get a free respec and you can grab the powers, even at 35, you can just do the missions and get back to blue side, you just need to unlock the pool.
3. Tactics cost half as much as Focused Accuracy and provides a higher tohit bonus. Plus it's for the whole team. FA used to be awesome but now its base tohit is lower than a kismet IO. And this last build I posted has 70% global acc.
4. Tbh I don't know much about merits, I have some toons with 5-8 but they're not 50 so usually I just mail Miracles and Lotgs bought in the market by my market/farm toon, since I came back I haven't bothered with my old 50s.
5. Slotting for damage isn't very common outside of PvP because usually we prioritize recharge, defense, HP, maybe Regen, so it becomes hard to go after +dam. The PvP people like it because PvP is all about doing the most damage in the fastest possible time since the enemies run away being players and all.
6. PvP builds are very different, some of your best tools won't be very useful there, like the damage aura (my DM/DA scrapper is useless in PvP due to relying on mobs for dark regeneration, soul drain, etc). You can still max recharge and end mod on Power Sink with 4 slots to face bosses by mixing the two end mod sets. Stj is end heavy, I even saw willpower players complaining. You can also put the two uniques in health. Also, Regen is considered the best PvP set for melee, they're nigh unkillable and have quick recovery which doesn't depend on mobs like Power Sink. I'm not familiar with post i13 PvP but you can run fewer toggles there because with diminishing returns defense becomes kinda useless unless you turn it off on the arena.
7. In normal gameplay I have no end issues, but I'm no usual AV soloer to know if Power Sink slotted for endmod and rech will be enough. On EBs and soloing it's more than enough since you'll have mobs around and EBs go down quite fast. Global recharge saves you end because you'll have Energize and Power Sink more often besides not needing to use a heavy hitter on a minion because some other attack isn't up. My Stone/ELA Broot (stone is a massive end hog) was fine on end just with a rech IO on Power Sink but she's always diving into piles of mobs and teaming, my DB/ELA soloed EBs and some AVs, I used insps but I don't remember using many blues and she has power sink slotted for endmod and rech with 4 IOs for max endmod and rech. -
I find Ninjitsu the best secondary being defense based and having the same heal as Regen (Recon) and toys, but it might not fit your concept very well. So in this case I'd go Energy Aura if you don't mind your toon glowing (you can always check the toon creator for the power effects). Haven't tried WP myself.
Primaries: the ones that were ported to Stalkers with no loss were KM and ELM. Some argue that they're even better for Stalkers because Burst has 100% crit from Hide, the only AoE that does that, and Lightning Rod doesn't unhinde you, letting you use Thunderstrike later for 50% crit or even AS if you have defenses. Also having AS makes up a bit for ELM's lack of good ST damage. StJ lost a ST attack, but the set still looks good on Stalkers compared to all the other proliferations except the ones I mentioned.
I'd never roll Energy Melee now... I loved playing my EM/Nin to 50 but the set is all ST and it's been overnerfed. As for your question, energy transfer doesn't drain your health when it crits (including when it crits and you're not hidden) but also doesn't do extra damage, like Concentrated Strike, no extra damage but refreshes BU. The -HP in ET never made a significant difference for me anyway. -
Elec plays a lot like Fiery Aura except you have more resists, both to s/l and exotic (and capped energy on SOs iirc, my scrapper capped it with DOs because scrappers have lower caps - or close, like 70%, on DOs).
The difference is that you get a recharge bonus passive and you don't need to worry much about making end sustainable builds after 35. And of course you don't get FE and Burn but Lightning Reflexes helps with your offense.
So the slotting recommendation is a bit like FA's, defense and recharge - the heal recharges in 120 seconds instead of 40 tho, but my no-defense SM/elec Brute is plenty tough, a TW with all the mitigation should be able to tank early if you want, mine did on SOs before Energize existed (she also was my only toon that ran out of end with speed boost, and properly slotted with endred, but when I was on tanking duty - it was before GR - I had to spam Fault).
I like adding some Regen and +HP because Energize benefits a lot from it, I also love the god mode, I leave it with 1 rech and it's always ready when I need it, the bummer is retoggling later because the crash has a mini EMP Pulse so it's better than Invul's. -

Lol don't hate on the ponies!
Funny you mention Discord, I had a pic saved to use (the caption is because in the episode he turns Ponyville into a chaotic mess)

Meh, these are tweaks and fixes (the HP cap was always a bug imo).
I'd like to see debuffs, like the one they added to AS. I'd like a higher chance for the AS Demoralize to go off, and, as much as this is only wishful thinking, having an assortment of debuffs like Rogue classes have in other games (poisoning weapons to give it different effects and the like).
Actually Bane spiders already do something like that - buffs the teams' defense, tohit and damage, debuff resistance, analyze enemy weakness with Surveillance...
AS damage scaling was tested sometime ago. Didn't work out, something about Stalkers ASing AVs and Hami and taking half their health, something along these lines that Castle couldn't work out a fix. -
Quote:But even my TW Brute on beta did fine with the telepaths, you'll have a decent ST chain in almost any toon. I had to use some caution because I used the cones but it was very possible even then, if you position yourself (plus I only used the cones because the build was on SOs plus incarnate stuff because emp merits are 1 infl on Beta).Oddly enough, the Devs may have heard some of our cries. While I've not run it yet, I've seen guides for the TPN Incarnate trial, where you need to do ST damage only, in order to not kill neutral civilians in the area. A nifty wrinkle...
My mind controller would also do very well in this scenario with no loss, as any blaster/corr that has a decent tier 3 blast (almost all of them). Or even an Earth/fire Dom, just have to lose the pet, not a huge deal for a Dom. -
Wasn't it temporary when they tested scaling AS on test?
City if Data lists all AS damage as typed, like ELM a mix of smashing and energy, DM smashing and negative, Claws all lethal... Spines could have some Toxic but afaik all the toxic damage in Spines are in the chance for DoT. -
Quote:Yeah I also hope that, it's good enough as it is. The Derpy cameos are funny, I never notice them but somebody in YouTube always points it out in the comments.I do hope they don't go overboard in the adult and internet references. Sure, a Benny Hill chase is always fun, and yeah, having the man playing Q do the voice for Discord was amazing, but honestly, I still kind of want it to be the six little ponies (and Spike) doing their little pony things. The character episodes really are when the show shines. Especially for Rarity. Why is she so awesome these last few episodes?
I do like the Derpy Hooves cameos. Looks like there's one in each episode this season. I think that is their small wink to the internet community. "Where's Derpy?" She's also in the new opening, check the back of the train.
I think my favorite is Twilight Sparkle, although Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie are close.
I didn't care much for Twilight in the beginning but I started to like her for the same reason I didn't before: the rationality, skepticism, worrying too much about not so important things and being mocked by the others like 'Why u so serious?', i think she kinda represents our 'grown up stress'.
Rarity had a lot of rejection for being the closest to a stereotype, I think that's why they made the episodes where she shows her good side (the sister one was great like the last one).
Ok... I think I'll get a PM from a mod to stop talking about ponies... But this thread is a test right? -
Yeah the Fluttershy cheering is one of the best scenes ever! http://m.youtube.com/?rdm=4otdcmkmi&...?v=JHy3ZhY9VKs
The other characters are interesting too (my fav is Pinkie Pie because she kinda breaks the fourth wall), it even reminds me of Friends which I think was so successful because it managed to make everyone have the same importance and be equally likeable, in other shows that tried to mimick Friends, there was always some characters that stood out and others you didn't care much.
And it's funny that guys like it so much, guess we're not used to actually find cutesy shows good, because from what I've seen in an article, the largest audience in YouTube episodes are:
1) male 25-34
2) female 13-17
3) male 18-24
I showed it to a female friend (we're both over 25) and while she recognized it's a very well made show, she didn't find anything different or special.
Due to the unexpected audience they even added stuff for adults later like some internet references and in one episode where they put ponies who are a homage to The Big Lebowski movie. -
Yeah that's what I do, but I find it takes long to recharge on SOs at least (base 10 seconds, Lancer is 11). It actually does more damage than non-disint Lancer but takes 10 seconds to do it, that's why Blasters may feel the target is almost dead when you hit them trying to spread disintegration, I'd like Disintegrate to be more like Divine Avalanche, low damage and fast recharge.
