  1. Heres another variant of hyperstrikes with near S/L defense softcap and maintains cap on resists. However this is with uswing Power surge which has a long timer. without PS s/l is still capped but the others are not.

  2. sorry for slow response. i moved on to some other project after getting him to 50 and incorporating some of the suggestions. I see now the advantage of using rage after trying it out and seeing the crash is not as big a deal as I thought it was going to be. Thanks bunches for the suggestions
  3. I've been trying to come up with a Plant/Dark concept and have finally done so(thanks is a no small part to the remarks in another thread about a horror movie theme with 3 pets). Now comes the build part. I've tried Plant before but didn't get past the 20's so i'm mostly in the dark(no pun intended). Please take a look at my build and advise.   4. Little help guys n gals. Been playing since 2005 and this is my first stab at a Widow. Im at level 36 now with this build and getting ready to IO at 40 but have some reservations about the build.
    Without Mask Presence I'm at 62/57/54 M/R/A and 40%+ to types(except for psi) with Mask Presence 72/67/64 M/R/A 50%+ types (p.s. inf isnt an issue but I'd just as soon use no purples-a waste in my opinion for the inf required) perma hasten/mind link with incarnates; decent haste/to hit/acc etc
    Heres the questions-
    1. should i skip boxing/tough ( 22% resist) and go with more dmg output(assault)I mean really , is that gonna matter?
    2. Should I keep Elude? replace it with what?
    3. better choices for incarnates?
    4. do i need more recharge?
    5. Do I NEED a ranged attack? or just use wand if needed?

  6. very cool. thanks!! Ive looked at some of the builds here and on other crab threads and have some stuff to work with. I don't quite get the hover tank idea tho. Caveat: If I reference another build and its yours I'm not knocking it in anyway im just trying to understand the concept.
    • most of the ranged attacks with the gun seem, well, underwhelming. Wheres all the damage come from? the pets or not that important since they are tanking?
    • Most i've seen have both high positional and typed defenses with highest in ranged. why both? isn,t it a waste of slots?
    • Im supposing hover is being used for knock back or staying out of melee range. In hover, if you get hit you still suffer all the effects of knock back but flipped instead of being pushed back.
    • Why use expensive set IO's for so little gain like LOTG < 1% in defense in certain defensive powers like maneuvers?
    • are the procs (like achilles heel etc) really worth losing set bonuses?
    • finally, what really is the overall goal in hover tanking?

  7. OK this may be a dumb question but how do you get crab armor upgrade at level 1? Im totally new to this AT and have no idea how to build them from the ground up. What/how do I build from 1-23 so as to prepare for the crab switch at 24 and does that give me the respec option that allows me to take the crab armor upgrade at level 1. I couldnt find a crab quide for 1-23 but i did look at the Huntsman guide. I can take it at level 1 in mids but the game initial build only allows me to start with wolf armor. Thanks for the help!!!
  8. Thanks for the tips. I went thru the forums a bit to get some info and found your old post for your build at that point. Gave me a great place to start. They didnt have the ATO sets when you posted and I added some purple sets along with some other minor changes. After working thru Mids a bit tonight I came up with this build. its a little hard on endurance with everything running until Ageless but I think its pretty solid. I hit 26 tonight also so I'm getting there. Thoughts?

  9. Need advice plz. My only other defender is a Emp/Psi that just cant seems meh. I could also consider Cold/Sonic the idea being i have a ice/snow cold theme with big boomin voice from an old cartoon that I would like to try. Are there any major issues with cold/sonic or storm/sonic I am missing. Ive been playing in mids but not sure about slotting the storm or cold powers.

  13. trying to help a friend put together an ele/FA farm and pve build. this is my first attempt but seems pretty meh to me. Im not sure whats best from the farming standpoint (fire farms) other than fire def and fire resist. seems a little weak for any kind of pve. that being said the farming part is more important than the pve. any suggestions to improve one or both?

    Rodion is correct that I slotted taunt in PS for the s/l defense.
    Deus i think I like the proposed changes. I can always run a respec and try them out or use my alt spec. Ill have to check the BM for the hamis or try to get in on some raids. Not sure how often they happen on Pinnacle.
    Death, I can see the value of slotting PSink for the end drain to hinder the inc def cascade failure and I will have to consider that.
    I just got back to the game and havent ever worked with incarnates so ill have to trust you all on this. Agility seems at first glance to be the way to go but I guess Ill have to consider all options before deciding and... i can always change it right? How tough is that?
    My opening is to use dark obliteration and Darkest Night to get the debuffs then run in and hit spin or focus and go from there depending on whether its a single or group.
    Perhaps just using darkest night is enough and not worry about Dark Oblit and get slash in for another kinetic set. I dont really care for Power Surge or the other powers with crash. Ive always got bitten in the a$$ using them.

  17. Most esteemed build gurus. Please lend your help with my build. I thought after reading the forums and the defense guides etc that I would be a god of survival but that does not hold true. I'm 90% pve tanking etc for my vg and a little pvp thrown in. Ive been thru MIDS and i just cant see how to make it better. What am I missing? Go for positional rather than typed? Get resists higher?(my budget can probably afford a Gladiator or Shield wall unique if needed and I can find one) <scratches his head>

    1. better survivability
    2. more damage output
    3. discover how/why the Cims with their claws are getting through

  21. Looking to build (hes already in his teens) a fire melee/stone armor brute with good survivability and decent damage. Ive playing with mids and came up with this. theres a couple of expensive IO's but mostly an affordable i think. Where can improve defense/res and still keep decent dmg/? tried to make sure mobility is there along with accuracy for attacks.
    checked numbers for granite off and on.

  24. Thanks for looking and taking the time to respond. I agree with your conclusions. Any suggestions for that last power other than manuevers or is it still a good choice? Would it make sense to slot IO set in Rage then to boost the to hit? Swap any other slots around?
  25. I don't remember spending that much on Myte but maybe I did; prices have changed a bit since last year when I set up this build. Here's his current build in game at 46. I was thinking of adding maneuvers and tactics to get all def close to soft cap and get to hit buffs w/o the rage crash. After reading the posts Im also going to change Foot stomp with Eradicates to get energy/neg energy def up.
