Widow - To Elude or Not to Elude - That is the question

Little help guys n gals. Been playing since 2005 and this is my first stab at a Widow. Im at level 36 now with this build and getting ready to IO at 40 but have some reservations about the build.
Without Mask Presence I'm at 62/57/54 M/R/A and 40%+ to types(except for psi) with Mask Presence 72/67/64 M/R/A 50%+ types (p.s. inf isnt an issue but I'd just as soon use no purples-a waste in my opinion for the inf required) perma hasten/mind link with incarnates; decent haste/to hit/acc etc
Heres the questions-

  1. should i skip boxing/tough ( 22% resist) and go with more dmg output(assault)I mean really , is that gonna matter?
  2. Should I keep Elude? replace it with what?
  3. better choices for incarnates?
  4. do i need more recharge?
  5. Do I NEED a ranged attack? or just use wand if needed?
heres the build

This is my current Night Widow: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...6&postcount=11 (With Muculature T3, Reactive T3 and Ageless T3 at the moment).

Seeing that you have about the same goals as i had (Perma Hasten/ML, Incarnate softcap), there's a few things that stand out:
-You have too much melee/ranged def, and are just 1% shy of incarnate capped AOE defence. The biggest perpetrator here is Combat Training Defensive, you could slot that with 1 LOTG +rech (or kismet +acc) and still be at the incarnate melee softcap
-Another thing that stands out is that you used a lot of slots on TT: Leadership and Foresight, but have both Maneuvers underslotted, if you put the red fortune sets into Maneuvers you will have better Endurance reduction (especially since foresight doesn't benefit from neither end redux nor recharge)

As for your questions:
1. I chose to get Boxing/Tough/Weave on my way to the incarnate softcap. I like having multiple ways of mitigation. If they hit through my defense, i prefer to have the hit hurt a little less. Imho the sliding resists don't kick in early enough and hard enough to warrant passing up the opportunity of more resists
2. As you can see, I don't have Elude, and to be honest, i've never had it, nor do I miss it while i wail on +3 incarnate enemies. (+3 to my lvlshifted lvl), as far as i know it can be a handy "Oh ****!" button, but i just chew inspirations for that.
As for swapping it out, if you team a lot i would swap it out for TT: Vengeance, if you tend to solo more, i'd choose either Gloom or Assault
3. Incarnates are as i would choose them myself.
4. Only if you can find a way to squeeze it in. To really perma hasten you need 110% recharge, but with good slotting of Hasten and usage of Ageless destiny you can probably make do with around 90%. Also, talking about Hasten, the third slot you have in there is totally wasted due to ED, either use 2 50+5 IO's, or 3 30+ IO's
5. I don't have a ranged attack, and I don't really miss it. It might be handy to have, but most of the time stuff is killed before it can run.

I hope this'll get you a little on the way to the awesomeness that is a Night Widow

Purples are not wasted on Widows at all. They may not be worth the INF, but they are definitely not a waste.
  1. Yes, skip those lame powers, you are defense and can use the power-picks for better things.
  2. Yes, skip ELUDE - it is useless because of the crash, and you're already soft-capped (or should be), so it only adds movement speed and recovery. Replace it with something more useful, like Eviscerate.
  3. Musculature Core, Reactive Core, Rebirth Radial, Assault Core... it's all about damage!
  4. If HASTEN is not perma, then YES, you need more recharge. Slash is your bread and butter, it needs to recharge in under 5 seconds. Period.
  5. HALF of your attacks should be ranged! NEVER skip Poison Dart, Dart Burst, and Gloom! Besides, those darts are a REGEN debuff and stack with each other. Hello!

I have both a melee attack chain and a ranged attack chain. Hell, I have any power I want up pretty much all the time. The flexibility is amazing with high recharge, and the damage output is better than any of my stalkers or scrappers (except AoE, my spines/sr and staff/ea brute is better there). But for single-target damage? I'd have to really trick out a Broadsword for +damage to come close to my widow numbers, IMO.

Also remember, it's not how much 1 attack from a widow vs. 1 attack from another is, it's "how many of those attacks can you do in 8 seconds?" - if your widows is hitting two full melee chains in 8 seconds vs. a scrapper/brute's one full chain, well, there you go!

I agree on all except Assault Core. The data shows that Assault Radial actually does more for your STD than Core. If you use any APP attacks, they are also buffed more by radial than core.

Discussion here:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...=290488&page=5

Core STD: 827.6675
Radial STD: 929.713291
I24Radial STD: 969.24111

Edit: UberGuys numbers - 899.24 for Core and 1050.11 for Radial

It's all about FU, FU gets such a big boost from radial that it actually makes your STD more than with Core. It is worth noting that both spin and EV get more from Core but Radial is better for STD and most APP's. It all depends on what you want to boost.

Forts are in the same boat, Radial boost STD more while Core is better for the AoE's. Even ST gets a big boost from Radial. It goes from doing basically nothing to 152.186 with radial.

It's also worth noting that I am usually at or really close to damage cap anyway without Core while on most ITrials. So if your at or near damage cap than Core isn't doing much of anything for you. Solo yes, teamed on an ITrial, not as much.

Nothing saying you can't have both, but it's not that cut and dried.

Yeah, I was going to be testing the double-hit vs. damage stacking; I read through the thread you linked (thanks for that); and I do not have Follow Up (FU), so I'm not sure if that's a big difference (I have Build Up).

Plus the new PPM code may effect the double-hit? Anyway, I'll keep an eye on that Core vs. Radial Assaul discussion!

I saw you have BU and not FU which does change things some. The I24 Changes Buffs radials STD for NW using FU, I did a sheet for that as well.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...MSUxUWmc#gid=0

I did notice while looking over your build that your actually a little over damage cap when you use both Assault Core and BU so Radial may help you more. Our Damage cap is 400, you have 100 base + 95(+) Enhance + 23.5 Bonus + 30 dub Assa + 30 Mus Core + 80 BU + 75 Assa core = 433.5% without any other buffs from teammates.
