Quote:Beat me too it, although "Going rogue" wont be an issue, there will almost definitely be an issue to update everyone else with its standards; without necessarily giving access to the content.Going Rogue might not be Issue 17 as many people point out, but City of Heroes: Going Rogue will probably be considered both an issue and an expansion, just as City of Villains was - Issue 6: Along Came A Spider. The expansion part is the 'Going Rogue' component of the game. However, both City of Heroes and City of Villains will be affected by the launch. The term 'Issue' is not just an update to game but it is supposed to represent the continuation of the overall story of the game like the next issue of a comic book. The launch of City of Heroes would be considered Issue 0. Just my 2 cents
Anyway couldn't careless about CO tbh, its almost identical with a few quirks and different takes on things but ultimately its the same and i cant be arsed re-rolling characters for it having spent so much time on this. Especially with GR coming, and the possibility of doubling the content. (or tripling depending on how GR is packed)

Could be the fact that now every mother son of a gun is currently downloading the files your trying to get too
Edit: that said I'm sitting around 40kb/s so perhaps there's a network fault at hand, but still give it some leeway with regards the high traffic probably on the servers atm -
Yes , i started a trial account because EU players are currently getting no access to Issue 16 beta. So the longer i wait the longer I'm losing access and wasting time
So any information regarding it is welcome. downloading the entire game again is painstakingly annoying. ^^

I'm looking to change the location that my fully patched EU test server links 2 to a US one to test out the new Issue 16 stuff.
completely unaware of how i would go about that and what the difference between the two is :/
Any and all help appreciated!
thanks,
kind
P.S for all it is worth im currently patching the US test anyway, if i get it downloaded and updated before anyone replies i'll figure out and post the method here anyway for future reference -
Quote:Its worth a note that GR is not an Issue, its an expansion pack, so it would never come anywhere near the same caliber of one. It should far exceed it. Therefore you have nothing to worry aboutIf ROGUE is of the same calibre most of the recent issues have been, I will have to leave. I am hoping instead ROGUE is full of new innovations etc. Could be possible considering how lean the last few issues have been.

Thats the problem with these discussions on forums. People re-read nit pick and find something to argue about. I'm not taking sides but there's a time when a discussion loses its point and i think you guys have reached it here. Settle your differences or walk away.. If your really that passionate, PM's or otherwise its just filling an already large thread with more pages.

I have the same issue and i always use the main address. The only way around this is to find a post and reply to it, the log in section there seams to work for me.
My info:
EU account.
Mac 10.5.8
Safari 4.0.3
Did work originally stopped working all of a sudden.
Happens regardless of reboot. -

Quote:"The system itself was conceived almost by accident: Up until fairly recently, quest writers working on City of Heroes were forced to slog through their task using an unwieldy spreadsheet."Incorrect. Before they developed the MA, the developers used Excel (spreadsheets) to design missions.
They now use a form of the mission editor for in house mission making.
Stand corrected -
-
Coming from playing on union, i dont think its a case of specific servers. unless you can explain the similar issues there :/ The entire server was laggy the other night too :s
-
Quote:First off.. The MA is easy.. but it was made to make it easy for the Dev's in the first place. Before I14 they had to make missions and arcs using Excell!?
MA was based of a developer mission creating tool that was already in use far before i14, they just removed features and made it more mass user friendly. At least according to an interview of one of the dev's i read before relase. -
Nope, really when you think about that... The builds have to be exactly the same. Theres no difference bar the server they use. Which is why changing the direction works.
-
Yea there was an entire patch/update when COV was released as there was a graphical update along with COV. I will assume that GR will provide something similar to update everyone regardless of ownership of GR.
-
Yea i believe some animations wouldn't work because of the time/length of the animations themselves thats not to say some jiggerypokery can't be done
Sounds perfectly fine, i would assume that further down the line when time permits it we will see new animation options for powers. Kinda like we get new pieces every so often -
I really have to admit to me it seams with the coming potential competition, Paragon studios have went into overdrive. These ease of life features and small tweaks to day to day playing that make life easier are just perfect. One that i'd like to see thought that hasn't been brought up/mentioned is an overhaul of the search function, but something tells me that will be brought in with GR.
Keep up the excellent work devs, your making me and i'm sure i can speak for the vast majority of your player base when i say, proud to be a supporting member of the community of this game.
The futures bright. -
Quote:Hey! MXO lasted 5 years, and lets face it was a great game when launched the only thing that was an issue was that it wasn't supported by the company to which it was sold after release. Therefore died because content was almost non-existent.yep... I dont think CoH has anythign to worry about outside of the first month... Im affraid CO will go the wya of AA, TR, MxO...
My point being it could have been made great... CO has nothing to build upon. The system itself is flawed and would take an overhaul, revamped beta, to succeed or come close to COX -
How do you think we (The EU community) feel... why where never even considered in the first place. Never mind vet status and dedication in one way or another.

Just made a post about this, EU not as important to close beta test?

Quote:Clarification here before you argue with me over something i can see that we both agree on. This should be done, if for no reason other than to provide a place for like-minded people to come together. I don't agree with segregation in any form, and i wouldn't expect this one to be any different.Well the direct harm is pretty obvious you could get some moron come along and start the abuse tho I'm sure they would be swiftly told where to go by the Mods.
now on to the racist remark or to be correct discriminatory argument while yes having a GLBT is some what similar to having a Themed group or language group its also not the same.
In the first instance themed groups are normal very specific in there make up and purpose and that theme normal exists only within the game things like a all tank SG or a all Defender SG and while yes a all tank SG mite discriminate against the other ATs there's nothing stopping the player in question rolling a tank and joining them also from personal experience the One AT SGs were more about the further development of the AT in question and they would freely team with others. The SG was simply there for them to discuss tatics and powers it was more like a hobby club than a true SG.
Then you have the theme X SGs the all robots, the all female, the all redeemed demons SGs again while on the surface they seem very much like the idea of the LGBT SG in that they create a connection for the group but that connections in game again there's nothing stopping a player rolling a character that matches the group even the all female group could be made up of male and female players they would just all have female toons.
I'll agree with the first two comments there they are not as similar, but the idea and premise is the same essentially. It was only an example no need to go poking holes this isn't a full report on gay discrimination within the MMO community.
finally the language groups this had the closest relation to the proposed LGBT group but there also not the same some people can speak multiple languages so its not a great leap to imagine they may join a predominantly french speaking SG or German speaking SG because they can understand whats going on and can interact with the members the grouping has most likely come about as a means of communication to allow people that speak the same the language to interact in the bigger game world.
so back to the idea of a LGBT you suggest that strait (stupid word but never mind) people could join it as well that being the case its no longer a LGBT group is it? the only way it could be a LGBT group is if only those of that persuasion were allowed to join (how would you know if they truly were anyways?) so that would be discrimination. you also ask
"what reason does a straight person have for joining anyway?"
No thats not the point of the SG as far as i was aware, as i suggested it would be a place to gather, a point they can as many said be themselves, let their hair down (or perhaps put it up), and otherwise chat and talk.
What are you suggesting here that GLBT and S people have nothing in common? were all playing the same game maybe the player who just happens to be strait ends up on a team with a couple of the members of the GBLT team and they all get on the strait player notices that the the other members are part of the same SG and asks can he join?
should they not be able to invite him into there SG or dose the fact that he happens to have a different sexual preference from them mean that they should shun him?
No I'm not so don't please put words in my mouth or lead my statements in other directions. The statement was what reason does a heterosexual person have for wanting to join an all GLBT group? i never once stated that they couldn't shouldn't or wouldn't be able to join. In fact i encouraged it if you read i stated:
"Again i wouldn't expect segregation to take place if a straight person wished to join."
Also, i joined an "All french" group on another MMO of mine because of the people and the language. It was still an all french group regardless of the fact that i was in it. (Think of it as a guest.) -
Quote:(I've run tanks with and without Taunt...there is no substitute for Taunt as an aggro manager).
Don't agree with that, my ice tank has two taunt auras and no taunt power and can manage sometimes more than the aggro cap because of the slotting, timing and quick movements. although i do admit it would be better with all three but i still manage to keep aggro off the entire team no matter what sets i've got on the team. (and thats included a FS'd Fire blaster)

[Before i enter this debate my stance is this; i am male, my best friend is gay and i guess because of that its no different in my views. He is your stereotypical gay queen
]
Personally i don't see what the big issue is for example as said i know several times a day i hear, GF home gotta go or GF awake etc and really... saying something like that wont make anyone know the difference (You could be male or female). Stating my same sex partner is home or something to that effect is broadcasting purely because of the words chosen.
The all gay SG? What i don't get is why people are so suggestive about not doing it for fear of bigotry/flame/abuse. That essentially is reverting back to years ago when being gay was a shameful thing. Then there's the argument that why should they, its only a game. Well to me i think well why shouldn't they? What possible direct harm could come from making an SG that consists of GLBT members?
Then you have isn't it like racist remarks, having all GLBT groups? No, its just like having themed SG's, or French SG's etc. Again i wouldn't expect segregation to take place if a straight person wished to join. I do think on that point... what reason does a straight person have for joining anyway?
Lets take this forum for example, in it we have several sections. The three major are english, french and german. How often do you use the french and german sections? Should you feel segregated because you are away from the french? i don't think so. You get on with you life regardless which is what i think most people should do and would do if someone wanted to create an openly gay SG. You know its there, you have no reason to be annoyed over it if its not going to effect you and therefore you ignore it naturally. (Unfortunately like the french and germans, XENOPHOBIA ALERT!)
Anyway, i say go for it. As long as the SG name isn't rude or breaches conduct. (for example: "WE LOVE COX" -
Completely agree here, not just because of the idea of having access to both lists and more characters etc but i know a lot of US players that i'd love to catch up with. I think doing something like this though makes it a gift as it doesn't really benefit them in anyway. There would be tremendous work planning and execution to be done and no gain on their side, apart from maybe better spread of population. (perhaps after GR's done and they have extra staff lying about >.>

As far as i could understand like City Of Villains, all content is in a separated world. The characters themselves are the ones that are joining Paragon/Isles. That way there is no worry about teams having to split up mid way for Going Rogue content to be played. (as you'd need to zone anyway) And as mentioned most teams just say in team and people are happy. i mean its not the other players fault if you didn't fork out some cash for the expansion.

The only way around this is to set a secondary objective after the betrayal that way they'll notice the change :/ at least thats what i did
