Mac EU - US switch

I'm looking to change the location that my fully patched EU test server links 2 to a US one to test out the new Issue 16 stuff.

completely unaware of how i would go about that and what the difference between the two is :/

P.S for all it is worth im currently patching the US test anyway, if i get it downloaded and updated before anyone replies i'll figure out and post the method here anyway for future reference

Question for you...you do have a North American account right? You can't play on North american servers unless you have a NA account. An EU account won't work on the US training room

Yes , i started a trial account because EU players are currently getting no access to Issue 16 beta. So the longer i wait the longer I'm losing access and wasting time So any information regarding it is welcome. downloading the entire game again is painstakingly annoying. ^^

Not sure if there's an easy way to switch between EU/US training rooms like you want. Especially on Mac since that involves it's own complications.

I'd let it just run out the download on it's own. Maybe CuppaManga knows something that'll help out.

You might be able to copy the files between the two apps, as detailed somewhat in the CoH Mac edition guide (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=143743) but...not sure what tells the client that it's a US or and EU client, so you might be resetting that bit too when you copy stuff over

You can follow the instructions in the Mac Guide to copy your EU game files to the Mac version. But with two differences:

1. Save the cohupdater.exe in the "coh" folder - if you overwrite it, the client will break.

2. You'll still have to do some patching, since there's a version difference between the two clients, and since CityOfHeroes.exe is different for the EU version.

The "pigg" files should be the same, which is the bulk of the game files, so you'll still save some time with patching.

Also, you might not get access to the Training Room right away, as trial accounts may take up to 48 hours to activate there (they activate on live servers right away).

Ok i tried a little messing i managed to get it to launch to the US version but somewhere along the lines it cant find the directory (keeps trying to install a new one). If i had have been a little smart i'd have swapped over piggs before starting to download new ones but since im half way there i'll let it go on.

Anyway i done this to get where i was:

Show package contents
open info.plist (use plist editor)
Changed a few places where it says cohupdater.EU.exe and the like to just cohupdater.exe
Then go to resources/transgaming/
change EU from the .exe

Opening that gives me the location mix up, once i have everything patched i'll copy it and try and figure out how to manually change it around. Until then i haven't a clue, as i say i'll check back and update when i figure out

Noticed while looking at the PIGGS that the ones its downloading are all new, it was a matter of just copying the remaining 1.5 gigs to the piggs directory in US version and letting it update instead of downloading them fresh Thanks!

Try downloading the CoH Test Server client from here:

ftp://client.coh.com/Test/US/

Start a patch first (there's a reason for that) but then Quit.

Then copy your EU version's Piggs folder and CityOfHeroes.exe into Contents > Resources > transgaming > drive_c > coh.

There's a chance that the files are supposed to be in drive_c > Program Files > City Of Heroes, check both folders to see which one has more than just cohupdater.exe (that's why you started the patch first above). If that's true, move the Piggs and CityOfHeroes.exe there instead.

After that there will only be a small amount of patching, and you'll be done.
