US Edition?

For those in Auckland, anyone know where I can find the US Edition of CoX? Or is purchasing online the only recommended solution?

Currently playing on the European servers and I feel like I'm missing out on some "homegrown" fun

Unless there's an alternative?...

Hmm, sorry can't really help there. I was in Canada when I started playing. I seem to recall using the online store for the second one.

I saw a boxed Architect Edition in JB Hi Fi the other day, you might be able to find one ofthose around the place. I seem to remember the electronics shops being pretty lacking in Auckland, though, so buying it on the NCSoft site might be a better bet.

You could just copy your EU shortcut link and change the path name to the US version. Just need a US account then.

I'm not entirely sure I follow on that. Wouldn't I need the US version for that to work? Hence the subject of the thread

Are you referring to the EU updater files? I read somewhere about that but wasn't entirely sure if it's workable...

The 2 versions are identical, apart from the timing of the latest patches occasionally. All you need to do is change something from EU to US (there used to be a sticky about it but god knows where that is now) and create a US account and log in with that. You don't need to redownload the game again.

Nope, really when you think about that... The builds have to be exactly the same. Theres no difference bar the server they use. Which is why changing the direction works.

Isn't there a JB Hi Fi in town?

Hmm thnkas for the suggestions.

While the direction thing is an option, I don't really want to mess with the directory. I only own CoV and so the CoH has been downloaded to a separate directory (wouldn't let me install to the same directory). I'd prefer to have a physical copy of both games.

I'll have a look in the city. I know there's a JB-Hi and an EB Games outlet down there. Plus, considering the price of a 2-in-1 purchase nowadays, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

There might be now, it's been a while since I was there. If so, that might be an option.

Right click your COV shortcut on the desktop, copy and paste another one to the desktop but rename it COV US (just so you know its US version)

Now right click the EU shortcut, click properties. The target should read

"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CovUpdater.EU.exe"

On the new US shortcut you have to change the target to

"C:\Program Files\CohTest\CohUpdater.exe"

Now you have access to the US servers. Just get a new US account and your away Hope thats easy to understand (it really is that simple).

I found myself unwillingly in JB Hi Fi at St Lukes and noticed an Architect Edition box there. It was $67. I didn't check if it was US or EU, that place is too scary to concentrate or want to hang around in.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):
