Oh, man. I love the sense of humor at Cryptic.
Dr. Forrester

Awesome contact....unfortunately, his missions all suck to the point of being laughable. Their drama is ridiculous, and any attempt at suspense is completely lost due to the ridiculous characters.
Luckily all you have to do is just watch them for 90 minutes without losing it.

Did you know....
front loaded missions used to exist? These were missions in which the toughest enemies were near the door, and the weaker ones deeper in, ending in larger groups of -1 and -2 enemies. They provided a nice variation to missions structures, and a lot of fun in mowing down weak minions.
People complained about the lower xp for the -1 and -2 foes, and so the missions were scrapped.
Hooray for xp......

That a company shockingly called DevCon constructed the Arena?
[/ QUOTE ]
...that before DevCon signs went up, Crey was the company behind the arenas. The original backstory was to have Crey build and sponsor the arenas in order to cull compabt information about the city's heroes during the battles. This was scrapped sometime after construction phase one and before the foundation was put in.

Hey any bets on how long we'll be alowed to keep this at the top of the list? LOL

Shame on you...don't you know the Mage's Guild has banned necromancy?

Ah.. one dork starting an outrage makes more sense than a change causing a huge controversy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, it was a lot more than one. It started out with a small request by a single poster, that the flag be lit at night. From there it grew into a heated debate on federal regulations, flag choices, allocation of development time, and heaven knows what else.
It really was quite a spectacle.
In the end, they lit the flag...and that has made all the difference in the world.

right off hand, before the end of the heroes beta, wasnt there a contest to name a zone and one the the surviving 8? i'm not sure but wasn't it Crey's Folly and Sister Psyche? I'd consider those fairly big contributions.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know about the zone, if there was such a contest, but Numina was the hero.
[/ QUOTE ]
Crey's Folly was named by players (originally named Venice) and Numina was certainly named by players.
Other things suggested by players:
-Ship to Striga in IP (originally only the Talos one existed)
-The ability to attack through Superior invisibility
-The need to type the character's name upon deletion
-The ability to trade 99999 inf at a time
-The teleport and rez confirmation windows
And the one change that spawned from one of the most intense debates on these boards?
-The lighting of the flag on City Hall.
and no...I'm not kidding...

I'm sorry, try as I might, I just can't bring myself to change my avatar...we NEED multiple avatars!!!

Nice track!
[/ QUOTE ]
Fargin sneaky bastage....
but yes, I'm happy that was the FY track that came up (there are a few that I really like...). There are only a few series that I have really gotten into, but FY I really liked. I own the entire Ceres series, but I've never gotten past the fourth episode (not that I don't want to, stuff just keeps coming up).
Anyways, as not to derail this thread too much, I'll post an additional 10 (meaning 15).
1. Chris Huelsbeck- Turrican II Title (Renewal)
2. Ultima Ascension- Minoc (Negative) (mind you, PLAY THIS GAME)
3. Big Band of Rogues- Super Mario 64 opening (if you haven't heard this album, FIND IT)
4. Beatles- Savoy Truffle
5. Sonic Adventure- Opening song
6. Madonna- Die Another Day
7. The Donnas- Strutter (a cover that surpasses the original, IMO)
8. Victoria Adams- Like a Prayer (yes, Posh Spice covering the Material Girl....and it sounds TERRIBLE)
9. Ultravox- Vienna
10. Eri Ito- Sona mi areru ec sancitu (from perhaps the single best RPG on any console)
11. Melanie C.- Goin' Down (wow, two solo Spice tracks...Winamp's scaring me)
12. Guilty Gear- Writhe in Pain
13. Gonzo- Going to Go Back There Someday (one of the greatest soundtracks ever, try listening to it and NOT smiling)
14. Oingo Boingo- Islands (Too bad they don't still do their Halloween concerts...those were fantastic)
15. Flogging Molly- Black Friday Rule
ok, another 15...I should do one and disregard all game tracks (as those could be chalked up as 'work related' in this household)
-Kendal is currently hiding from the KISS Army -
OK, it's far enough down the list that I doubt anyone will read now...so I'm safe
1. Shakira- Si Te Vas
2. Koji Hayama- E. Honda Stage (if anyone knows this track, I'll be impressed)
3. Hideki Naganuma- Vela-Nova
4. R-Type- Battle Theme
5. Buckner & Garcia- Do the Donkey Kong (hooray to those who can sing this)
6. Sammy Davis Jr.- Mr. Bojangles
7. Star Fox Adventures- Thorntail Hollow
8. Fushigi Yuugi- Yo Akeru Maeni
9. Spence Nilsen- Heart of the Giant
10. Reba McIntire- Fancy
11. Ultima Ascension- Stones
12. The Flaming Lips- If I Only Had a Brain
13. Britney Spears- Pepsi Commercial
14. Christina Aguilera- Always Coca-Cola (yes, they randomly came up back to back)
15. Totakeke- K.K.Ska
OK, so I cheated and did 15. Though even in that 15, none of the metal, eurobeat, rock, and classical that I listen to a lot of came up.
Oh well, have fun figuring out what half those tracks are...

OK, when you form a SG, you're supposed to get 20,000 prestige for having one member. Then, for each member that joins your SG, you get 20,000 prestige...
Have they said if this bonus is coming to preexisting SGs? Or, rather, when it is? or do we all have to reform our SGs?
-Kendal got lost in the sea of ED posts searching for her answer -
Was this just a "I want to post about these global changes and have to make an Ice Tankers thread so I'll kill two birds with one stone" post?
Why thank Circeus for all of his work (and it is an amazing amouth) and then ignore every question, concern, and issue that were raised by his findings?
I don't think I can add ANYTHING to this thread, Circeus has once again covered all bases. However, I have to admit, after seeing State's threat to Ice tanks, I will not be surprised if most of Circeus's work goes unnoticed and unheeded.
-Kendal believes this is her first pessimistic post....and is saddened -
I want Ghost Widow's power. I don't care what it is, I want it...oh, and she totally chickened out with that Phase Shift.
Synapse probably had a power on autofire and his speed got supressed...that's why he ended up getting beaten.

The slashes are or arguments.
What I would LOVE to see is a scrapper put up what they believe the numbers SHOULD be.
How many +2 minions do you think you should be able to handle? How many +4 LT's?
Looking at the numbers here, I'm seeing numbers so high as to almost be laughable. Are people really complaining that they can't take more than a dozen LTs at once?

Is Incarnate "Natural"? I was sort of thinking that the EpicATs would all have different origins, and Natural is already taken. Marcus Cole's story of 'unlocking his true potential' sounds more like The Shadow than anything else to me, which could be placed in "Magic".
As for the Natural origins losing their powers, I don't believe they do. I think that was the reason Manticore's lack of any true powers was pointed out. He'll still be skilled with the bow, making him the FP's main force for a while (and also making him a logical choice to be the focus of the first tale).

I know it was just quoted, but I'm doing it again, because people looking for what 'body sliders' mean, will find it there. These body sliders seem to be attatched to the character creation (the character is still the green proto-mold you see when chosing your height) but I seem to recall a 'body slider' button shown in an Icon window.
There's also an image of the face slider....and it is incredible. There's a slider for Cranium, which can be a very fun game with the right group of peple....oh, silly me, in the same image, the body sliders are present, obviously after the costume had been chosen.
Oh, and there are tons of other stuff there as well. Color me one happy little lady.

Statesman was about to post answers to every question on the board, but suddenly Positron called him. Seems Geko, Cuppa, and Lord Recluse challenged States, Posi, and Ravenstorm to a 3 on 3 tournament.
That tournament has been going on for days now...most of the matches end with the phrase "ok, one more round".

Free? I'm in for well over $100 now. I think we have a different definition of "free."
Sure some other developers and publishers charge for every expansion pack, but that doesn't mean *this* game or it's expansions are "free."
If you'd like to see free content, look up Epic Games. Bonus packs are always free (and high quality) and - hold on to your hats - online play is FREE. No monthly fees.
[/ QUOTE ]
Epic Games? of Unreal fame? They have a persistent world game? Because unless they're managing a persistent world, and the mass of servers on which they run (UT servers are NOT comparable) then the whole "no charge for online play" thing doesn't fly. MMO games cost a LOT more to maintain than FPS, racing, or any other console-to-internet genre.
You pay $15 a month (or less, for most) to pay for the servers, the bandwidth, the storage, the bug shooting, and the general upkeep of Paragon City. You paid $50 (or less) for the years of initial development that went into the software and code that are on the CD or DVD you got in the box.
For the development time that goes into the issues, for the wirting, art, and publication that go into the comics, and for the pie, you pay nothing. EVERY* other major MMO charges an additional $20-40 for the same thing.
If you think otherwise, you might want to reexamine your understanding of business practices among persistent world games.

Not to mention that the first AV you come in contact with in a story arc (Dr. V) has no mention of his precense in the mission he is placed in.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is because Dr. V is not a mission-crtitical objective. You can ignore him and get a Mission Complete (the story supports this in a rather cool way, I think).
-Kendal -
only read your reply, not the others, so if this has been mentioned, forgive me.
[ QUOTE ]
Someone says "You should always be able to solo your missions," and Statesman replies "No, bosses usually require help." From this, you don't get "Bosses aren't supposed to be soloable"?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, I don't get that. The problem with your question is that you misquoted Statesman. His actual words were: "Bosses, Elite Bosses and AV's usually require help." If he had JUST said 'Bosses usually require help' I could see where you had a point, as that statement would have to be 'bosses sometimes require help' to be closer to accurate. However, by listing Bosses, Elite Bosses, and AV's, the term 'usually' applies correctly.
The trick here is in actually reading what was stated and understanding why those words were chosen.
-Kendal -
[ QUOTE ]
Frankly, until I hear otherwise, I'm assuming that's exactly what he meant.
[/ QUOTE ]
The absurd part is that you HAVE heard otherwise:
[ QUOTE ]
Bosses, Elite Bosses and AV's usually require help
[/ QUOTE ]
and yet you are still determined to ignore it.
