Heyas!
I'm likely to come at some point during the weekend, unfortunately new job will only tell me when my shifts are gonna be in a few days time!
Just wanted to say that Kendai no longer exists. Elder Simons will be coming though... (so you can remove Kendai from the list)
If that sounds peculiar... I will explain at the meet -
I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say we, the Defiant server (all 6 of us) enjoyed ourselves very much at the Player Meet, and had a great time! We even did a 6-man Kahn TF, our proud screenshot presented below:
Congrats to @Tenebris, @Mereman, @Sir Gawain (previously @Kendai), @EU-Cambo, @Judgement Dave and @Riff
Thanks for organising it, Kallandra! -
According to http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Servers
"Victory has as a reputation in the community as "the unofficial Euro server" and "the unofficial GLBT server" because of perceptions that this server has the largest concentration of these two groups."
As an EU player hoping to move servers, I am just wondering if the above statement is true or not. Please reply! -
I would like to attend, and if you would like I'll pop in the day before and check things are going ok with the cybercafe (as Bham is my hometown. Last time I went in and they actually couldn't get CoH working and so my assistance got CoH functioning on all machines ready for the meetup
).
I can bring my laptop, and also as it's my hometown there are many places I can recommend to eat, drink and have fun
Is there space for me? -
Hey there fellow panda!
Best to keep shouting in Defiant Events whenever you're bout to do a mayhem mission. As you're only level 26, you won't be able to access the higher level mayhems yet, but once you're level 50, you can keep getting the Peregrine Island mayhem mission again and again, meaning you can get all your non-exploration badges easily. -
Congrats Psygon. Little Lamb was an ingenious creation - I personally disagreed with a lot of the finalists but I really liked yours and hoped you'd be a winner. Enjoy your well-deserved inf

Dear all, as you may or may not be aware, over the last few days the Defiant community has fractured and split, damaged by panic and anger. In the interest of keeping the community together, I have restored all the operators back to their positions before I demoted them, and I have removed my own operator status to avoid any more angst in channel against me having this position. I apologise for any casualties on either side. Defiant Events 2 and other spin-offs of this channel will no longer be necessary as there is a strong community here on Defiant Events.
I acted in what I believed to be in the best interest for Defiant Events (a fresh start) as elected operator from 2 years ago, and continued to do so by restoring the channel to the way it used to be, and have no regrets about those actions. However, in the days of unrest, it became clear to me that it was no longer a matter of who was right and who was wrong, and what was more important was keeping the community together. Of course, having restored things to the management that Defiant Events used to be under and myself being no longer being an operator, I cannot promise that anything will be perfect from now on - that is the business of the reinstated Defiant Events operators. Therefore, if anyone is unhappy with the previous management of Defiant Events (which I have restored), please notify me and we will talk about possibly setting up a new channel. I implore you not to press the issue further in the Defiant Events channel. -
I have already explained my reasons for demoting the other Ops in the channel. I did ask the channel to be cleared for people to set up their taskforces, but many people did not listen, instead deciding to hurl abuse and insults. It is these particular people whose fault it was that events were difficult to get underway.
I will, from tomorrow be using silencing and kicking if necessary as stated above in order to ensure the smooth running of Defiant Events. I have not done so so far because I know that it will take time for people to adjust to the new management of Defiant Events. Also, information on how to apply for an operator position will be posted on the forums within the next few days. -
Dear all, as you may or may not be aware, Defiant Events is now under new management. I feel that in order to start afresh, there must be some ground rules and guidelines that we all should abide by, posted here to prevent any misunderstandings in future.
- Common sense and mutual respect.
- Try to keep one-on-one conversation to tells.
- Casual chat in the channel is fine, as long as there is no event getting underway. If someone is trying to organise an event, we respectfully cease any off-topic talk. If need be, an Operator will step in, and call for the off-topic talk to desist if the event is still struggling to start. Silencing will be used as a last resort, and once the event is going ahead, people who have been silenced will be unsilenced.
- No spam will be allowed. External advertising may be permissable with prior agreement with an operator.
- Should any of the rules be broken by any player on the channel, appropriate action will be taken. However, no silencings or kickings will be given without warning first.
All rules are subject to future admendment, which would be edited here and notice given in-game before being implemented. We are always open to suggestions from the community regarding these rules. -
Ok I'm in, Kallandra! C u on the Saturday then ppl!
-
Is there space for one more? I can bring my laptop!
I will only be able to come on the Saturday I'm afraid tho, as I'm off to a wedding on the Sunday -
Join the channel 'Defiant Events' - that's a channel with lots of regular players and hopefully you'll have no trouble finding a team there.
-
I was just thinking that today. I've played CoH for 4 years now, and have tried Dark Blast for a while, and though I've really liked the look, I've never liked playing it because it simply isn't as powerful as the other sets.
Most blast sets have a 'tier 3' powerful (non-snipe) ranged blast.
Ice: Bitter Ice Blast
Fire: Blaze
Archery: Blazing Arrow
Sonic: Shout
Radiation Blast: Cosmic Burst
Dark Blast gets Siphon Life, but that does nowhere near the damage as the other blasters' 'tier 3' ranged blast. As we can see from the post above, Siphon Life got changed so it was up to scratch with other melee sets, so please can Siphon Life get upgraded too?
Also, why does a blasting set have 'Dark Pit'? It doesn't do dmg. It's more like a power that belongs on a defending or controlling set. It really should have something like Soul Drain, or Aim.
Dark Blast needs a serious look at. I want to play a toon with Dark Blast, but I know it's not going to be as fun because I know my blasting set is weakest. Please devs - if you're reading - do Dark Blast a favour! -
I'm in. Can't do Saturday but can do Sunday - just give me a time and I'll be there - storm/elec defender.
-
I don't think I'd be able to commit to a regular time, but if one of my toon's concepts fit your ideas then I'd like to join a few nights if I may. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
Pass me a tell (@Kendai) if you're low on numbers. I may/may not be online but I'm up for teaming. -
They don't advertise in the UK because they did try at one point long ago but it simply didn't cause enough response in the UK. It is an awesome game but it just doesn't seem to have picked up in the UK.
-
Yo Sing, I'm up for MO villain runs - sorry I only realised this post today, but if ur gonna try for them at any point let me know
-
Sure thing I'll give it a go Boy Wonder. I'm dying for some good new stuff to play. I'll leave a comment and ratings - and hope you'll give my arc a try too - "Carmina Rouge" heroic morality, autosk to 50
-
Ok so if you want to be annoying you could... make a Force Field / Energy Blast Defender.
The knockback would just be hilarious. Take all energy blast and slot for knockback, spam force bolt, run around with repulsion field (in particular near the melee fighters), and when you get it, keep force bubble on!
Take energy torrent and explosive blast to knockback enemies more, and power push.
This I would consider to be, the worst character to make. -
Because unlike VEATs, HEATs have NO MEZ PROTECTION. Well they do, they just have to sacrifice all their damage for it, whereas VEATs don't sacrifice anything...
Everyone knows that VEATs > HEATs atm. Even the devs do. Of course, nothing will likely be done about it... -
I seem to have a thing for bubbles. The 1st toon I ever created wasn't Kendai. In fact, Kendai was my 3rd toon that I created. My 1st character was called Xann, and she was force field/psychic blast.
After having read the instruction manual, I remember it saying somewhere to stick together at all times. When I made my first team, I took it almost too literally, suggesting that we should all even travel together from one mission to the next. This usually resulted in disastrous consequences to other new players especially in the hollows (before it was made the tranquil peaceful place it is now), as I'd just bung on Personal Force Field and happily run through lots of mobs, meaning anyone on the team stupid enough to follow me, well, DIED. Of course later when we got our travel powers, we gave up travelling together. Though of course, me, being a noob, thought that sprint + swift should be fast enough for travelling. Nooooo...
I didn't take deflection shield and insulation shield because I thought "Why take those 2 single-target bubbles when I could just take dispersion bubble later which gives defence to a group?" Of course, during these days, we hardly had anything to help tell us what numbers and how much buffs/debuffs etc were doing, unlike the right-click thing we can do over powers nowadays. I later learnt my mistake, realising that the defence STACKED and so I took the single-target-ally bubbles too.
I never realised until level 20 what to do with Enhancements. At the time there was nothing in tutorial to help you with it, and someone then told me when I was level 20 that you had to click 'Manage' and click and drag. As I was so happy I went and spent all my inf on training enhancements, without the knowledge of the much better SOs at 25...
Oh yes, and the 2nd toon I created was an emp, who I played like a blaster and charged in into almost every battle thinking I could just heal myself if anything happened, and survive. *cue Family Fortunes eeh-eeh sound* I was such a noobish emp, though I later learnt my mistakes, and people loved me for healing them. I then got bored and deleted him.
My 1st two level 50's were force field toons. I think that's noobish enough already... force field... is by far the WORST defender/controller set you could have. Non-debateable. -
Hey ppl,
My account expires tomorrow and I'm not resubbing. Going into final year at uni/college and it's time for me to actually start taking it seriously instead of playing with CoX!
Ofc, I won't be able to stay away completely for the entire year, and when I do come back it'll most likely only be weekend play. But I do need to spend more time on my studies as I do two degrees at the same time! (I know it's crazy)
Before I leave, I'll quickly advertise my AE arc called "Carmina Rouge" (finalised last month). It's proven to be quite popular amongst my friends - it's a hero story, but let's say it's not exactly like most CoH arcs...As you wait for new content to come in the form of I16, I myself offer you some new content to play! It is soloable, but does have AVs so if you fancy, grab a team together for it - though all the writing/dialogue/clues are important so enjoy the story! (Nice) ratings and comments would be much appreciated!
Defiant is my home and so I will return to it. Until then keep the server and events channel alive!
I'll be online later tonight to chat and do adminny things.
Love,
@Kendai -
Hi mate - was just lookin thru the forums and found no one had replied to this, which is a shame!
You might want to try joining the channel 'Defiant Events' and add it as a Tab to your chat window. In that channel are many ppl on Defiant who are up for doing TFs, costume contests and all sorts of events. So shout in there and see what the response is like! It's a small populated server, so don't be surprised if you can't get a TF instantly, but keep trying - at some point during an evening you should be able to get a TF running on that channel!
You might also wanna check for details on the TF:

Good luck!

Farewell Omega MCX. I look forward to the day when I can break my addiction from CoH (my RL sucks!) Glad your RL is working out.
Hmm... I think we'll need another Defiant Events operator...!
Although I haven't played with you much, at least I can wish you well, and all the best. (If you still have a spare 45mins then have a go at my story arc, Carmina Rouge - you don't know what you're missing!)
Love,
Kendai -
Although the BM prices are absurd for rare recipes, I find them absurd for practically most recipes tbh. Melee Villains I find are very expensive to slot - I usually average out at 1mill inf per toon on defiant heroes, but on villains, it's nearly double, especially with melee toons.
The prices have gone up I think because ppl aren't selling their recipes much on the BM/WW anymore, and ppl aren't rolling from AE/Merit Vendors (because they want a particular recipe or somethin for themselves), therefore the fewer recipes there are now, the more expensive things are likely to be. Also, when ppl get recipes, probably half of them just go and sell them off at a normal store, despite the fact other ppl might want them. Salvage prices are also getting ridiculous - again, less salvage now due to ppl just levelling thru AE and inf farmers monopolizing the BM/WW.
I put all my invention recipes on the BM/WW for a low price so some lucky ppl out there can catch my offer and get recipes at a reasonable price. Cos I'm nice
I do think these inf farmers should be banned tho. They eat up the search window and it really doesn't help when I'm trying to find a high level team and they're a waste of space in Atlas Park/Cap Au Diable. However, I'm uncertain as to whether the GMs/Devs would do anything about those inf farmers. After all - all those toons are paid-for accounts and paying a subscription too...
