    Leveling Pacts

Not really 'gone' per se. I still have several pacted duos with my wife that are working as they always have. We just can't create any new pacts.

    Alts in a SG

Unless, of course, you have joined one of those SG's with a house rule limiting the number of alts permitted.
  3. I remember when SG's would anounce that the next meeting day would be C&C(Cape and Costume) day. Everyone would call up their contacts and go to the local tailor to set up the unlock missions in advance. It would be more than an event. Cookies and punch to be served after.

    Badge missions

    IS THIS TRUE???

The only attempt that I have ever made at Pither's missions was on my main/badge/souvenir hunter. This was some time around I14. I had heard of the Efficiency Expert badge and wanted to make a run at it. Was looking forward to it as a challenge.

He's a stalker. He got his first mission, which was Wipe out the Council Base. So, as a stalker, he snuck in, found the bomb and set it.

Nothing. No end of mission. No success. No mention in the mission objectives that there was anything else to do. Just nothing. So he goes running back the other way, killing everything he finds in a fit of pique.

He gets back to the front door. It's right there, he can see it , almost touch it.

    Only three guys left.

AS...one down. Tear into the second. The guy has a sliver of health left and the time runs out. LOAD SCREEN!!

    What a crock....

It is never stated in the mission brief or on the objectives that this mission is a Defeat All. If I had even an inkling that he had to defeat everyone in the mission, I would not have wasted half my time searching the base for the bomb. He would have just casually gone in and set about killing everyone. When he found the bomb, he would have set it as an "Oh, by the Way, let's blow the place up for good measure"

I haven't even looked at Pither since. Not on this toon, not on any other. When friends suggest "Hey I have this new contact named Pither. Wanna run his arc?", I politely reply in the negative. If they insist, I go find something else to do.

But, if there is even a chance to still get the badge, I might take another look.
  5. Thank you

    Next questions then become:

1)Have they announced when the Celestial set will expire, and

2)Will it be rotating back again later?
  6. Please forgive me if the answer to this should be easy to find, but my Search-Fu is weak.

So, the question has been raised in my household. When are Paragon Rewards awarded on annual subscriptions? If I buy twelve months, do I get all twelve Reward tokens at once, or do I get them one month at a time?

The reason I ask is that I have characters that have seen the Celestial Costume parts and screamed "I Gotta Have It!!!"

My account is at Tier 8.1, so twelve Rewards would more than get me the full set, but I don't know if it will be in time, as the Celestial set is a limited time thing.

Or, is the only way to "Buy it NAO!", to blow $XX.XX on Paragon points(That I don't need) to get them?
  7. Is it just me? or does this seem to be much ado about nothing?

Or is the concern over more than just Run Speed?
(As in, if Run Speed is wrong, what about Damage/Accuracy/Defense/etc)

I understand people want to use the available tools to build the best character that they can get. That puzzle can be a metagame that people enjoy. I get it.

But please educate me. Is there a tactic in game that I can use where the difference between 85mph and 92.5mph is important? I get that it is significant for Damage, Accuracy, Endurance, Recharge, Mez, etc(Heck, even stealth and knockback), but run, fly, jump, and teleport?
  8. As an example, I had a Praetorian brute that, at twenty, went to the Rogue Isles.

He immediately turned around and went back to the First Ward, never did a mission nor talked to a single contact.

At 21, because he had not done it yet, and needed a L25 enhancement, he went to the CDEC(Praetorian University) to do the free IO arc, and the contact there told him "I don't talk to people from other dimensions".

So, once you go to Primal Earth, you can never get the stench out of your costume.

    Mob KB Magnitude

To my recollection of what I have seen here, KB magnitude is generally 4 or 10(with AV's being somewhere much higher than that). If your protection meets or exceeds the magnitude you are covered. Thus, 8 it no more effective than 4. And 11 is just asa good as 12.
  10. IIRC, You have 13 oportunities to select Loyalist/Resistance.

    First is at character creation/tutorial.

Then each of the three city zones(Nova Preatoria, Imperial City, Neutropolis) has four morality arcs. One each for Warden, Crusader, Power, and Responsibility.

So, in order to gain the Moral High Ground, you will have to do at least one arc from at least one of the other Preatorian "Alignments"

Edit: Dang, almost too slow. No, choosing Hero/Villain does not count.
  11. Well then, I guess that I am, once again, wrong. Go figure.

I started playing shortly after villains started and have always preferred red-side. (I like the story arcs and easy travel more than blueside)

My first and main character is a Stalker soloist, and a badge and souvenir hunter from before we could turn off XP (I used debt, on purpose, to slow down leveling)

But when he did his patron arc(Because otherwise he would not have epic powers to choose from) he was not granted a respec. Of course, they hand out freespecs like candy around here, so he already had three of the things hanging around and probably didn't have room for another at the time.
  12. Agreed, once you have completed any of the patron arcs(and earn one of the patron badges) all of the patron pools are always available on that character whenever you do a respec on that character.

As a side note, I think I missed something. When did the patron arcs start granting a respec?
  13. "I don't suffer from altoholism. I enjoy every minute of it"

    That's floating around here somewhere.

I have so many alts that, some days, when I am having a serious jones to play, I look at my character select screen and vapor lock, unable to pick a toon to play.

I was just pointing out that, as the OP seems in a hurry to unlock V/HEATs, he will need to at least start three characters to get there.

Ah, I remember the G.O.D.'s(Good Olde Days) when you actually had to earn EATs by getting to 50 first.
  14. You can get all kinds of advice on AT's, powersets, DPS, survivability and more number crunching than you can shake a stick at from others who are more into that kind of thing. My advice to you is to look at what kind of playstyle do you prefer: Solo/Team(Think you said solo), melee/ranged/support, etc. and pick a character that you will enjoy playing. That to me is most important. You could have a toon that can get to 50 in 50 hours, but if s/he is not fun, for you, it will feel like 500. Grind is grind. Play to have fun, and if it takes you 150 hours to play to L50, it will feel like 20, because as they say, "time flies when you are having fun"
  15. And in addition, here is the real kicker. If you are starting with Going Rogue, you have to create a Preatorian first. Once you have a Praetorian, then you can start a hero or villain. So, by the time you have HEATs and VEATs unlocked, you will have three characters. The Preat does not need to leave the tutorial though IIRC.
  16. I've run enough BAF's/Lambda's to have the salvage I need to make the parts that I want.

I just don't have Lore/Destiny unlocked yet. I need iXP!! Please let me KILL stuff til the time runs out. I don't care if Seige still holdes the B.A.F. My friends and I will take it away from him(again) in about an hour.
  17. Just did this one again last night.

Talk to the Crazed Warden that's following you around.

But be ready for an ambush.

You'll do this three times IIRC.
  18. It's a trick of the costume creator versus crab spiders. You may need to have an alternate build which is not a crab, but you can set up a costume without a crab backpack and add the trenchcoat. In the costume creator the costume will look like it doesn't have a backpack. Then, as soon as you exit the creator, the backpack 'magically' appears.
  19. I, too, use the keyboard to activate powers in my trays. I also bind 'goto tray X' to several of my keys so that I can switch between trays quickly.

Aside from that, there is also a way to lock powers in your trays, so that you don't accidentally move them(Although I, personally don't use it).
  20. ok, thanks for the clarification
  21. I have been following this 'defense softcap' thing since I started lurking the forums.
Could you all help me to understand some things?

I understand that even level minions have a base 50% chance to hit. Doesn't the base chance to get a +5% per level above and -5% per level below? Don't critters get another +5% per shift up the Lt/Boss/EB/AV scale?
  22. Haw!!

Like a d20 would be sufficient!
  23. Or turning buffs into AoE's
  24. Gank - (I learned this the hard way) - term refers to being in a PvP zone where one character gets trounced by others; one tactic is for an opponent to use a combo of invisibility to sneak up - stun/mez - nuke; another is for one player to engage the opponent then have a large group of teammates join in and pound the player to a pulp within 1 or 2 seconds. This often happens repeatedly as the "gankers" will wait by the hospital or gate for player to return.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In my opinion, invisibilty/sneaking and teawork are part of the game.

GANKing specifically refers to the camping out around gates, hospitals, respawns, etc for the purpose of repeatedly killing the same opponent. Usually done for the purpose of stroking an unstable or weak ego.
