OK, I may be beating a dead horse here, but i cant seem to find any recent posts on this question

What (in your opinion) is the fastest leveling AT and why?

I want to power through mobs and destroy all sorts of stuff.

fire/fire blaster? SS/WP Brute? Dark/Dark corruptor? Lets hear it!

Solo or on a team? Keep in mind that teaming almost always results in much faster XP over time than soloing.

Also, what's the rush?

mainly solo. The rush is because I am just coming back after a long hiatus and my old account is in my dads name, so I would like a level 50 of some sort.

My highest level toon is a 21 bots/dark MM. So I dont have any sort of bank roll.

And I would like to hit missions mostly. . . I think.

Probably going to be a brute or scrapper. Specific power sets are negotiable, since it's difficult to build either one in such a way that it won't solo well.

They both deal good damage, single target or AoE depends on power set choice.

Both of them have enough survivability that there should be very little downtime between spawns, and not much should pose a significant threat to them.

A mastermind would be a decent choice. Your Bots/Dark should be leveling pretty decently actually. Dark Miasma is one of the better MM secondaries for solo play.

Blasters will level quickly up to about level 35, then they tend to slow down once their kill speed starts lag behind their survivability. When IOed well it isn't as much of an issue, but with your lack of bank that'll be difficult for you to do.

Your Bots/Dark is actually a good start, but if you want to roll something new, go with a scrapper or brute.

Bots/Dark is a pretty nice combo actually.

However Bots is a slightly late bloomer in that everything comes together once you get your second upgrade at 32, your AoE goes through the roof!

Bots, Thugs and Demons are considered the top Mastermind Primarys.

Ninja suffers from being Melee centric and thus getting smacked around by AoEs but it can dish out some good Single Target DPS. Necromancy is a bit of a mix bag and probably the second pick behind Bots, Thugs and Demons. Mercenaries are bottom tier, it's rare to see anyone take them if you're looking to 'power game'.

Bots/Dark and Thugs/Dark are considered Giant Monster Soloers and Dark can do this without really requiring a lot of expensive IOs, if any.

Scrapper, brute, or MM. Bots/dark is one of the best MM sets so I would look there first. If you want to look at a scrapper, or brute, I would go for an AoE based one so you can use the diff setting for a higher mob sizes for better exp. You need something that can survive the larger mobs, so I would lean towards a brute.

For lack of funds, run some AE missions and build up tickets and use those for reward rolls and sell on the market what's good and sell at stores what isn't. The market forum has guides to give you ideas on what to roll for in terms of recipes. You can also do tips missions and get a-merits to use and buy high priced recipes that can be used to sell on the market as well. Case in point, look up what a crafted Luck of the Gambler: Def/+recharge sells for. You can get one of those recipes every four days.

Ok thanks I think im gonna head over to the MM forums and see why I cant seem to even solo -1 missions (while being the same equivelant to one superhero or whatever) without having some major problems (bots dying, and getting overrun)

I wrote a Bots/Dark guide way back when that's laughably out of date in some respects now but still contains relatively sound advice in general. You may need to tweak your build some to tighten things up; you can ask advice in the Masterminds forum. If you took the blaster rifle powers because they're neat, I'd advise you to drop them and focus on slotting your bots and your secondary. You don't need the Repair power either with the awesome heal you've got in Twilight Grasp.

Also, most important of all, read and use Sandolphan's Mastermind numpad bind guide. Masterminds become about 300% more effective when you've got a good set of binds to run them strategically instead of having to click here and there on the screen.

Outside of specific mobs, you really shouldn't have any issues. Darkest Night and Fearsome Stare alone mitigate a ton of incoming damage for your pets. Bodyguard Mode means it's rather hard for you to die as well. My Bots/traps uses common IOs so there's nothing special about the build and it's the first build I felt like EBs were mere speed bumps in the game. Again, there are mobs out there that can tear an MM apart, but those are few and certainly not enough to make one not play an MM because of it.

Try demons, they're hardy and do good damage. They're great solo, especially with /dark (a great heal as well as other awesome debuffs to help your minions roll through mobs).

I would second this. Also, to really get rid of downtime between spawns, I would take the regen or willpower sets. With those sets, your hit points and endurance won't hold you back. If you want to solo like the Energizer Bunny, that's the way to go.

If you had big bucks, I'd answer differently. IO sets can take care of regen and recovery easily and you could go with any powersets.

You can get all kinds of advice on AT's, powersets, DPS, survivability and more number crunching than you can shake a stick at from others who are more into that kind of thing. My advice to you is to look at what kind of playstyle do you prefer: Solo/Team(Think you said solo), melee/ranged/support, etc. and pick a character that you will enjoy playing. That to me is most important. You could have a toon that can get to 50 in 50 hours, but if s/he is not fun, for you, it will feel like 500. Grind is grind. Play to have fun, and if it takes you 150 hours to play to L50, it will feel like 20, because as they say, "time flies when you are having fun"
