I think it's perfectly balanced right now. My Heroes and Villains earn A merits, which grant better rewards. My Rogues and Vigilantes have the ability to run any Task/Strike Force on either side, which means they are earning Shards much faster.

Has anyone petitioned to have inter-account emails returned and had them successfully found (ie an email from one account to another)?
I had 3 high value inter-account emails sent and 2 low value intra-account emails sent. They are only finding the intra-account emails so far. -
This is definitely the best strategy. Ninja/Trick Arrow works well with Provoke because it has a superior ability to hold agro. Most MMs just spam Provoke and think they are tanking. But this is a stunted strategy because the Taunt effect is a threat multiplier, and the only threat that is often being generated is from Provoke itself. Without additional threat-generating damage or debuffs originating from the MM, a pet will quickly strip agro.
Luckily, Trick Arrow offers some potent AoE debuffs causing a Ninja/TA with Provoke to generate a ton of agro. Every single debuff that is placed on a foe is generating threat (aside from Flash Arrow of course). This treat is then being multiplied by the 8-16 second mag 4 taunt in Provoke.
If I were to offer any advice, it would be to take Fistful of Arrows to further generate threat; AoE damage + debuffs + Provoke as a threat multiplier will work even better than what you have going on now. I would also strongly recommend taking Smoke Flash for the Oni or your Jounin-- it is a really powerful skill that doubles damage for 10 seconds, which is a huge boost if you have positioned the Oni in melee to use its sword attacks or ever seen a critical Fire breath decimate a spawn.
You might love Oppressive Gloom, but because you are slowing/immobilizing and kiting while generating threat, it seems to me that a PBAoE toggle stun is not all that useful. Removing OG and adding Fistful of Arrows would be more conducive to the play style you posted. Doing that and taking Scorpion Shield for SM/L defense would be very viable, as it could elevate your protection to the most common vector to above 36% defense.
Edict of the Master 5% defense is also a great benefit for Ninjas-- certainly worth losing some AoE defense on your MM for.

I wouldn't call sending an email to friends and yourself to be picked up the next day storage. Not every email and attachment sent is an effort to circumvent storage limits.
I will make a mental note to never send emails on Wednesday night then. Thanks! -
Quote:I tend to disagree, not just because you are using Cloak of Darkness with 3.75% defense to all as a replacement for Hide. Super Reflexes has access to 95% DDR, which is absolutely HUGE as far as real game survivability goes. Ninjitsu with just the Heal and its defense values would fare much poorer in real game situations with the plethora of defense debuffs. The scaling resistance in the passives offers a good boost to overall survivability for SR as well.Caltrops is certainly a very good power. However, at least when comparing ninjitsu to the set it's most often linked to, SR, I think ninjitsu comes off pretty favorably even without caltrops *and* blinding powder.
And here's the problem with Ninjitsu: it's already very well balanced on a Stalker. Remove Caltrops to add a fluff power and Scrappers get a crummy port. Remove Caltrops to add a different gadget that stands as a decent replacement and Ninjitsu becomes flat-out-superior on Scrappers once they take Caltrops from their APPs.
More importantly, porting skills is probably far more labor intensive than the player base thinks-- certainly not as involved as creating an entirely new set, but not the simple cut and past that takes place on a spread sheet. Any time invested in porting Ninjitsu to Scrappers-- and it would only go to Scrappers as it could never function on Tanks or Brutes-- would probably have better returns in creating a new Gadget Armor set for all melee ATs. -
I got the same standard email.

Hello,
I am escalating your petition to a Senior Customer Support Representative to further assist you. Please be aware, however, that there may be a delay in reviewing the issue, based on ticket volume at the time your ticket was submitted.
Someone will be in contact with you as soon as possible

Hopefully I can get this resolved sometime. -
Let me know if you guys get refunded and that this is something I will need to petition. I'm hoping they can roll back the email system somehow, as I made some big emails last night to both myself and several friends.
-
Well, I sent myeself 1.2 billion, a recharge/heal panacea, and who knows what else. They are all gone...
Are you guys petitioning in game? -
Quote:Have you played a WP stalker, or just looked at the numbers? WP on a Stalker is VERY sturdy. It has high regen, easily capped HP, 50%+ SM/L resistance with Tough, and can achieve very high typed defense across the board.KM is not slow, and Willpower is a pain on a Stalker. No defense coupled with low HP means more dying, heals or not. You also lack Rise to the Challenge, the staple of Willpower. Go KM/Nin. You won't be disappointed.
I love Ninjitsu, but WP on SOs is probably more sturdy. -
Quote:The attacks aren't slow at all-- they are just fluid. Look at the numbers behind the first 3 attacks at 0.83, 1.07, and 1.2 seconds each. It's one of the fastest sets in the game. In fact, its first three attacks have a lower total animation time than the first three in Claws, Dark Melee, and Martial Arts.Hmm so do you suggest KM/WP then? I like the knockdowns of KM but the attacks do seem rather slow..
Kinetic Melee attacks are very fluid, so they appear slow to some players. While Smashing Blow animates in just 1.2 seconds, there is fluid movement for the full 1.2 seconds. For comparison, Disembowel swings the sword once really quickly but then there is a slow recovery as you return to your base stance. It "feels" faster but takes 1.8 seconds.
For a beginner, I would recommend WP over Ninjitsu. Other than Reconstruction and periodic use of Strength of Will, it's pretty much a passive enhanced toggle-and-forget set. Ninjitsu is really powerful, but you really must use Caltrops, Blinding Powder, Smoke Flash, and Kuji-In-Sha well to squeeze the most out of the set. -
Quote:It might be better for the developers to actually make a gadget-type defense set than port Ninjitsu. For the concept I have in mind, combining ninjitsu and weapon mastery to have caltrops, webnade, exploding shuriken, smoke flash, blinding powder, and whatever they replace caltrops with (assuming, as I do, that it'd be some sort of gadget to keep theme) is absolutely perfect.
Having recently played Ninjitsu as my primary Stalker, I must say that it a VERY well designed secondary for the Stalker AT. But Caltrops is integral to the set's overall function, as it lowers the rate of incoming attacks through the flee effect, and this lowered rate synergizes well with the mechanics of defense; fewer lucky attacks slip through because fewer attacks are being made, and proportionally fewer of these attacks are the hard-hitting melee type. Several players are calling for Caltrops to be removed for Scrappers, but having played Ninjitsu I would say that it is a cornerstone of the set, along with Kuji-In-Sha and Blinding Powder. Replacing Caltrops with an equally potent skill wouldn't work either, because it would arguably make Scrappers far superior to Stalkers once they take Caltrops from the APPs.
If the developers were forced to redesign 2-3 skills from the Ninjitsu set, replacing at least Hide and Caltrops (and potentially Smoke Flash), why wouldn't they just make an entirely new gadget-defense set from the ground up for multiple ATs? -
Quote:You are right that damage buffs do not affect procs, but wrong in thinking that damage procs aren't all that great on a Brute because of Fury dilution.I was under the impression that Damage Procs were not affected by Damage Buffs, such as Fury or AAO... which means that for the typical steamrolling Brute in-game that has ~200% Damage buff from Fury, Procs aren't all that great.
A damage proc can be treated as a substitute for enhanced damage that ignores ED and the damage cap. Because of the Brute's low AT damage modifier-- 5% lower than the Tanks-- a damage proc will represent a higher value of % enhanced damage when compared to the Scrapper.
Mako's Bite % chance for lethal represents 41% enhanced damage on a Brute's Shadow Punch, but just 25% enhanced damage on a Scrapper's Shadow Punch. (14.4/35.03 versus 14.4/57.8) Fury is designed to manipulate the Brute's low AT damage modifier, and thus dilutes actual enhanced damage, but not Procs which merely emulate enhanced damage over time. Because of this, 3 and 4 proc slotting on a Brute is often more viable than on a Scrapper. -
This is pretty simple. Shadow Punch does 35.03 points of damage at level 50. Most damage Procs add 14.4 points of damage on average (72*0.2), while purple damage procs add 35.3 points of damage (107*0.33).
That means that a normal damage proc effectively equals 41% enhanced damage for a Brute while a purple damage proc equals 100% enhanced damage. If you want superior DPA on a skill, you can sacrifice some enhanced damage for a damage proc-- something that can be particularly effective with the musculature alpha slot
The best possible DPA slotting is this, using 52+ HOs:
Level 1: Shadow Punch -- HO:Nucle(1), HO:Nucle(3), Hectmb-Dam%(3), Mako-Dam%(5), GS-%Dam(5), Zinger-Dam%(7)
Frankenslotting on the cheap like this would also yield superior DPA compared to your current slotting:
Level 1: Shadow Punch -- Mako-Acc/Dmg/EndRdx/Rchg(A), Mako-Dam%(3), C'ngImp-Acc/Dmg/Rchg(3), HO:Nucle(5), Zinger-Dam%(5), Cloud-%Dam
Brutes have a little more leeway than Scrappers when slotting procs because of their lower AT damage modifier. This means that damage procs will represent a higher percentage of effective enhanced damage. -
Change Pain Bringer to 3x heal rather than 3x endurance modification. Swap the order of RotP and Fireball, and grant more sockets to Fireball upon swapping them (4 at least).
I also recommend taking Crack Whip, especially when leveling. This was my most useful whip attack. -
My experience on my DS/Pain is that the Hellfire Gargoyle wins for top DPS. It has a completely fluid chain of attacks-- well, as fluid as a pet can be-- and many of the Gargoyle's attacks have superior DPA relative to the Demon Prince.
AoE damage isn't even close. Hellfire Burst does less damage than Frozen Aura, but it has a 5' larger radius and almost always hits more foes. The Hellfire Gargoyle also has access to a damage aura and Breath of Hellfire for additional AoE damage.
I place perma-Pain Bringer on my Gargoyle, while the Demon Prince gets a periodic burst from Hell on Earth. -
-
Quote:Jumping isn't that important, and you can directly swap Hover/Fly for CJ/SJ. I would recommend adding a socket to hover, removing the LoTG (they both take defense sets) and adding two level 50 Flight enhancers to Hover.Couple questions, how important to the build is it to have combat jumping and super jump? i currently am using fly and hover and would like to stay with it unless there is a reason that the other is a better fit.
D
Quote:Enhancement levels...My friend recommends doing lvl 25 ones because if you slot for lvl 50 and you drop below that in a group the slots become useless.
The purples and PvP recipes are expensive though, so if they break your budget just swap in one of the other sets in the list, replacing Apocalypse with Decimation for example. -
Quote:For sure. If any of those skills do not have End Mod + Proc, then I just messed up when I was hammering the build out this afternoon. They were all meant to have End Mod + Proc at 2 slots each.Awesome! I think I'll start working towards that purpled build you made. One question though, is it possible to just put Performance Shifters: Endmod and Chance for +End in all three endurance powers? (Stamina, Physical Perfection and Superior Conditioning) Instead of the PS: End/Acc/Rech you put in I mean.
-
Quote:Can you name a powerset that's been released since issue 5 that doesn't have some unique mechanic attached to it?As to your second point, it's not always about flashy new mechanics.
Well, given that those are both Legacy sets developed in Beta, you have pretty much reinforced my point. -
Both sets would be good. I have a WM/SD Brute and it's a very good combination. Dark, however, would be a far more unique combination if that's your thing. It would also be rather interesting as a mini-controller.
I like Kinetic Melee with Fire Aura, as the -Damage stacks nicely with the resistances in the set. The +damage from Fury and Power Siphon synergize well with the new Fiery Embrace-- you will see big damage numbers for sure. -
I soloed Trapdoor on my Spines/Nin, and I can guarantee that Kinetic has more single target DPS than Spines. Were you not killing the bifurcations to shut down his regen?
-
First, Dark Miasma is already control heavy.
Second, the Developers have chosen (rightfully so) to work on introducing sets that offer some new type of mechanic for the given AT. Electric Control emphasized -endurance soft control and introduced chain-mez powers. Dual Blades introduced combos. Dual Pistols has the ammo swap mechanic and very unique animations. What would Dark Control do that was completely new to control sets and wasn't just control/ToHit debuff versus ToHit debuff/control-- which is exactly what Dark Miasma is? -
And here is the cheaper build without purples.

Quote:It does. You have to click the button by hasten to activate it (green colored).I was thinking between spine burst, throw spines and ripper all recharging at around 4-7 seconds (roughly) i could cycle through them without any problems. Does it show how fast powers recharge with hasten active?
Here is what I would change on that build. Blinding Powder is a must-have signature skill for Ninjitsu, as it debuffs ToHit (effectively granting defense to all), mezzes, and doesn't break Hide. Caltrops is a similarly powerful skill for its ability to shut down incoming damage and make foes run, and I would also add it to your build. I also tend to take the g-d mode on Ninjitsu even though most players don't. When you face foes with +ToHit, foes that have lots of -defense, or foes that con +4, you will be grateful.
The first one is with Purples. The second is without them if they are outside your budget. Note that you are still softacpped to all positions because Hide grants 2.8 defense even when suppressed, so basically add 2.8 to all your defense values.

I leveled a DS Mastermind and took the whip attacks early. I got the most use out of the AoE attack and Corruption for its fast recharge, and used these skill often from level 10 onwards. Once you have all three and are high level, you can chain them together to stack a good amount of -Resistance and significantly enhance your pet's damage. I found this style of play to be the most interesting on MMs-- taking your attacks early and using them often.
Remember to keep at least 2 of your pets in Body Guard mode (defensive/follow), if not all of them when fighting up close. You need the extra HP this effectively provides. I would also highly recommend getting a -knock back global IO, either a low level Blessing of the Zeyphr or one from the defense/resistance sets.
DS will work fine for farming. Thugs and Robotics are probably the best at this, but I would recommend taking a character that you find interesting, and Demons are very good at both damage and survivability.
As for secondaries, DS/Thermal can be very good with just Single Origin enhancers; it has heals, buffs, debuffs, and looks great with the Demon theme.
