  1. Tech & Science in my experience. I've never had a Mutant SO drop from them except as a mission end reward.

They do have overlap with the Lost in some missions and the Lost drop Mutant SOs.

Edit: When I asked about this a while back, some folks mentioned that the vampires/werewolfs from the 5th Col used to drop Mutant SOs but they were converted to Science types when Council replaced them.
  2. I noticed at higher levels there's no Mutant based villain groups to get SOs from (The Lost is the last one and top out around lvl 30) so I doubt I'd make another mutant since I like being able to use my SO drops to plug holes until I get the IOs. My main is a mutant though.

My latest characters have been Tech which is nice because you get tech SOs from Arachnos, Council, Malta, etc through the top levels. Better yet, you start fighting Tech-origin villain groups early on and keep at it the whole game. My recent characters fit tech as a concept but, if I didn't have a concept in mind, I'd choose tech anyway just for that reason.

Pffttt.... not that they know of.
  4. I don't have anyone who'd go gray, much less switch completely. Of my three "main" heroes, two are driven by a desire to eliminate evil in some form or another and the third is more selfishly driven but not in a way that'd make him turn evil. Rather he's fighting bad guys to ultimately find a kidnapped companion. Running red side missions to steal relics or kidnap people to ransom off wouldn't fit in his story.

My one rogue is just self-centered evil. I suppose he could go to Paragon City just for new people to beat up and take things from but it wouldn't be a choice made through morality but opportunity.

I could see making a "hero" though who holds the Law above humanitarian beliefs and seeing them join the Praetorian police department under the notion that preserving law and order is paramount.

Well, there ya go. Granted you didn't "officially" win but obviously a lot of people who didn't know you from here still thought your costume was awesome and you have the nerve to be in the contest. Excellent work!
  6. Wow, very detailed and very well done! If you haven't, you should consider getting it printed and keeping your moment of glory in tangible form. Congratulations!

    hero of canada??

    ***SPOILER***

Reichsman is the version of Statesman from an alternate universe where the Axis won WWII and took over North America. So he's not German, he's Post-Losing-WWII-American.

Canada's hero is named Ol' Maple-Face. Trust me on this

No. 2 pencil drawn over with a blue needle-tip office pen. Fear my mighty arsenal of artistic tools
  9. I'll spare you any psycho-babble about shyness and just say that your costume is seriously cat's pyjamas. I insist that you enter it into the contest. If not on yourself then on some hobo who you paid with $3.00 and a bottle of high alcohol content aftershave.

I thought most people preferred the 5th because Nazis are classic comic villains and the 5th had an actual backstory, etc whereas the Council was obviously a ham-handed attempt for the developers to have their cake & eat it too, shoehorned into the game lore once having Nazis in game became problematic.

At least, that was always my objection.

Nah, just chatting and expressing opinions.

I don't know what the conceal/carry laws are in Rhode Island but I'm betting they don't include flamethrowers or rocket launchers

When they first came back to Steel Canyon (and points beyond) I jokingly asked if it was wrong to cheer them on. But honestly they're just game icons. They don't do anything besides mill around on the sidewalk, stand on cardboard boxes and now beat up on Council. Heck, they don't even harass civilians like Hellions, Tsoo, Circle of Thorns or Outcast do. I suppose if the game portrayed them as rounding up and registering people or something I might feel different.

Not to say that they're good guys or anything, of course. Just that, as computer game opponents go, they're pretty unoffensive.

    Daybreaker Alpha

A quick, strictly amateur sketch of Caemgen's Daybreaker Alpha. Hardly up to par with the "real" artists (I don't say this to get a "No, it looks great!" but because I'm not a blind man huffing paint) but it's probably the first thing I've actually tried to seriously draw in the last 5-10 years. Just a way to say thank you for your generousity on the forum, not just in giving away the art but in running contests which have been fun and helped make the forum an enjoyable place.

There's a gajillion things I can find wrong but I suppose I shouldn't trash talk my own art that I'm givin' ya

You know, I WILL say that I used other artwork of Daybreaker Alpha as my references, totally forgetting that you posted REAL references in your Contest #3 thread. Oy vey....
  15. Rad/Sonic Defender? Sonic is one of the more damaging powersets for Defender secondaries and Rad primary gives you powerful debuffs (helps teams and solo survival), an AoE heal and the Accelerate Metabolism buff. I mainly soloed my Rad/Rad defender to 50 but I'd recommend Rad/Sonic for you for greater damage (Sonic wasn't an option when I made mine). Stuff your pool power requirements (Hover, Phase Shift, etc) where you want 'em.

I've never been able to level a Controller past... umm... 6? The pathetic beginning DPS just wears on me.
  16. I don't have a "hot chick" character I'm vested enough in to waste your time with but I look forward to seeing what you create
  17. I've been getting weird "machine gun" rubber-banding when using Super Jump. As in, I'll jump, move forward a bit, back a touch-forward-back-forward.. forward some more... back-forward-back-forward-back, forward and complete the jump. Only SJ seems to be affected and my chat windows, etc continue to respond as normal (unlike typical rubberbanding where I type something and it doesn't pop up until I've "reset").

Also, when I join a team, I can see the "slots" of other members in my team window but they're blacked out unless we're in the same zone. They eventually show up if I wait long enough but the default is blackness where the names should be.

Both of these started perhaps a week or so ago.
  18. Another vote for remembering them way back when. I remember hovering over them and sniping them down in Steel Canyon. But that was ages ago and I haven't seen any in recent past.
  19. Judging from the picture, I'm giving this one to Fenris
  20. Wow, that's incredibly generous. Thank you.
  21. That's true. The boots are an obsolete piece that I have to hit the refresh button to keep to their original since the costume editor wants to convert them to leather.

McBoo, I like how you kept a little bit of red field on the chest for the emblem and the overall design. I see Justice pants are popular!

Was too busy running Halloween events tonight to worry about my costume (ironically, I'll now have five slots unlocked and one costume for 'em) but I'm certainly going to return to it.

    Is it wrong?

I just put my powerset in my LFT comment space and figure that's good enough. If anyone invites my TA/A Defender thinking they were getting someone with heals based on the little shield icon, it ain't on me.
  23. Mine's muddled with Set IOs now but it used to be five slotted with Heal (x3) and Recharge (x2). Another recharge (or End Red, etc) didn't seem worth spending the sixth slot on it.
  24. Looks cool. Nice pose with the levitating plus the lightning.
