While all this back and forth about what you want and don't want was going on, I could have leveled 3-4 different stalkers into their 20's by hopping onto a couple of decent pugs. So can you.
Experience is the best teacher.
Randomize a costume and slap some power sets together that you are curious about. Play them to a modest level. Then re-roll the one you want or simply head to the tailor to fix the ghastly "randomized" costume on the want you want.
You can knock the first 10 levels out faster than eating a sammich....
Getting on farms is easy too if you want?
Advertise yourself as a ss/fire brute, then go into hide when you join the farm and they'll never even know you're there......
*hits placate* -
Morgan....after having read this thread, in its entirety, I recommend you just take Hide and be done with it. :-)

Pretty much any stalker build can be successful in zones, if that's where you intend on playing?
I think the current fav is elec/wp? km/wp? I have a lowly spines/ninjitsu and have had no trouble getting kills in the past. Haven't taken it to PvP zone in some time, but last I checked, not much has changed since.....i13?
I think spines is possibly the considered lowest on the totem pole? He kills just fine when in zone and plenty survivable. Yep, I'd say any stalker is a capable -
Played with nrg/nrg in Mid's while snacking after work and made some changes to your build. Keep in mind I have never played an nrg/nrg blaster and cannot even claim to have made one before. I haven't a clue as to how they truly play, but I believe this build will make you more survivable than the ones you have above.
I tried hard to keep in mind that you are on a budget....I'm spoiled so that was difficult and may have splurged in a few spots. This build is not great. Great usually takes a whole lot of money. So I just tried to keep you covered on some of the basics like KB, HP's, & Dmg without spending too freely.
Anyone who actually has experience with nrg/nrg can feel free to improve on the budget build I'm proposing here. As stated....0 experience playing this toon, but I believe this build, at the very least, can be enough to annoy people.
Hopefully this copy paste works.....*crosses fingers*

I think what the other poster meant was that this technically belongs in the other PvP forum. You are looking for guidance on a build, hence it would get more feedback if it were in the "Guides and Builds" section rather than the "Zone PvP" section. I think that's all they meant?
-
Your build appears to be......."sub par".
You seem to lack some things that most blasters find "necessary". First thing I see is a lack of money. :+)
Even if you are on a budget, you can improve this build.
Try and bump up your damage bonus more. A lot more.
Get more procs in your attacks. As many as you can afford/fit without sacrificing any "base" damage.
More HP's. More, more, more.
Maybe more recharge too?
Not too sure the fighting Pool is allowing you to get the most out of your build.....consider other options?
Health really only needs to have the miracle+recov and the numina +regen/recov. Rest of those slots can be allocated elsewhere without seeing any real dip in performance.
For stamina....I would recommend using 4 performance shifters, one of them being the +end unique.
Phase shift should only need the original slot it gets, don't waste the extra two slots on it. Put them somewhere else.
You SEVERELY lack KB protection. Find a way to get over 41pts of KB protection. This will be enough to overcome "most" of whats out there, but not all. Acro alone doesn't cut it....
Sets to Eliminate from this build unless you absolutely need them for the bonuses:
Thunderstrike
Adjusted targeting
Efficacy Adapter
Winters Gift
Crushing Impact
That should keep you busy for a while.....
Note:
I do not play blaster in zones. There are others who could likely give you better, more detailed information, but since no one was offering....and I was bored.....I thought I'd try to help.
GLHF and YMMV. -

Quote:Hardcore PvP is mainly found in arena. Anyone can have fun/success in zones. Also, any AT and power combo can have fun/success in zones. Use your brain and I'm sure you'll be fine.I think i actually want to make a toon for only pvping. A few of my friends and I went to RV yesterday for badges and I just so happened to kill a few people with me pve nrg/nrg blaster. I've always avoided pvp cause i always thought it was for hardcore pvpers only.
So, what is the most effective build for pvp? I've heard that stalkers are very good and can annoy people. Or should i roll another blaster? Any advice is appreciative!
ANYTHING is "capable" in zones. It's more a matter of player ability than toon ability imho.
I've had success/fun on toons that most folks said I'd get pwned on or were extremely sub par by PvP standards. Don't worry so much about the "perfect" AT and combo. Worry about what you are comfortable and decent at playing. Besides, I think there are enough psi/em blasters and FOTM's to last until 2050? Dare to be different? -
Quote:It has not been consistent as to how long it takes to crash. Whether open, closed, or minimized. Can be 10 minutes or an hour. It has also now begun to crash without giving me the " game ran out of memory" speech.Just wondering, but how long does it take for the game to crash when you have the launcher running, and when you have the launcher *closed* (not even sat in the task bar)?
I ask this, as i actually havent suffered this problem yet (have had others at one time or another, but not this one specifically)
Quote:I can't say for sure, since with how well-known the problem is, there're about a million and
one possible causes probably. I will say though, that the phasing tech is suspicious,
particularly in First Ward.
I really like the Shadowed Paths, but I've learned very quickly to never step foot into one,
because they will guarantee an out of memory crash in the next ten minutes for me
if I do, no matter what I do afterwards. If I avoid them like the plague, I can do whatever
I want in that zone and nothing bad happens client-side. If I start to phase into one though,
I may as well shut down and restart the client then and there, because it'll force it on me
shortly anyway.
AP too has been the subject of crashing for me, but I'm less certain about what the cause
may be there, with the drastic zone overhaul and all. But that's one thing you may try
avoiding and see if you get any difference.
I do only have 3GB of ram, so I spose it can bleed dry quickly? My card has 1gb but again, total of 3gb's+1gb card seems low by today's standards lol.
Maybe it will work itself out while I'm at work over this weekend and unable to play.... -
Strange....played the game for 5 years and never saw this message or type of crash before.
Is there anything I can do besides sitting, waiting til it happens again? I do try to take advantage of whatever graphics my gts 250 (1gb) card allows and would rather not knock them into the dirt if at all possible. -
Quote:What spec is your PC? How much RAM do you have? What OS are you running and is it 32 or 64-bit? Are you running other stuff in the background? Have you got the Launcher set to Quit after the game is launched?
Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
3.00GB Ram
Windows Vista 32 Bit Operating System
No
Yes(Have tried both ways) -
What is this? I keep getting blasted with this statement: "game has run out of memory and must shut down".
When did this start and how can I get rid of it? It didn't happen a week ago and now it happens every hour or there about.....
Anyone else seeing this? -
So, just in case all you slow folks haven't figured it out by now....City is F2P because of McDonald's and the fact that they've closed their drive-thru's. I'm going to my local McDonald's right now to take it up with their manager. I'm gonna pissed if I have to get out of the car.....
-
Are there some activities one could do solo to get shards or are the tasks with shards going to require a team? If so, where does one go to most commonly find a team?
TIA -
Hey all, back after about a year layoff. My fun little spines/nin stalker build is lacking an update. I still haven't spec'd out fitness pools yet! :P
So anyways, my build is/was pretty solid and I'll respec out the fitness pool shortly and throw something in.
I'm wondering what incarnates I should be leaning towards for zone play with s spines/nin stalker?
I am also considering spec'ing out Kuji-in Retsu.....I almost never used it in zone anyways. The end drop was too irritating for me to use it. It was a "rough night" if I popped it once......so it seems a waste to take it if I use it so little, no? Bad idea? Any /Nin stalkers have some perspective to lend?
TIA -
I think I'm more confused now than when I started reading the thread. It will for this but not for that. Yes on that but no on this. Yes if this has that but not if that has this? Bah. How's about a good old fashioned list of what works and what doesn't, eh Devs?
-
Flurry, jump kick, etc?
Playing with some respecs on Mid's......starting laughing about some of the numbers flurry was showing and thought I'd better confirm if it's still that much outta whack here?
TIA. -
Indeed, server reads as "red lining" and when I get in, it's a ghost town all over the place.
-
With enough money..../NIN is pretty incredible at times. I've had a whole lot of PvP fun on my spines/nin. Impale+shark kiting is kinda fun. I wouldn't say it's the best choice to marry spines to nin, but I enjoy it quite a bit. There are several sets that are a better choices based on the math.
I am leveling a elm/nin now and he is currently sitting at lvl 31. We'll see how he dances at 50 in Recluse Victory. I think the "standard" is elm/wp? -
I must say, I am quite surprised what low regard so many hold AS in. I am equally surprised that so many of you cannot use it more than once or twice per mob. I use it at every opportunity, especially so in PvP. I can get off multiple AS's on most PvE mobs unless the team is steamrolling them.....in which case it is not important for me to use it more than once/twice. Hell I can use it 3-4 times or more in a 60 second PvP skirmish. What are the power combos that some of you are using? I'm trying to understand under what circumstances AS can not be used more consistently or rather what sets make AS less appealing/productive to use as often as I seem to think it needs to be used? Thanks for anyone with some simple examples.
I find it to be extremely useful, productive, and deadly in almost all situations.
My preferred power combo is Spines/Nin, so this may allow me to slip back into hide consistently easier than some non-defense sets, but still....even on my Energy/Regen stalker plays similarly except that I use fewer overall attacks due to hitting my heals in between attacks for survival since i get hit more often. -
-
You don't have to take BS, you can take Lunge instead I believe. It's up to you, either way it will not get much use. I don't even waste any slots on it. ymmv.
Sharks can be acquired via the Levi epic powers, so just do the Capt Mako arc when it comes time. Sharks are a nice 80 ft. ranged attack which can be a very good friend in PvP. Just make sure to not rely on it. It's a secondary attack only, AS is your money. Nothing replaces that. I highly recommend slotting your AS with 3 Acc/Dmg Hami's and 3 dmg procs. The occasions when 2 or even 3 of the procs fire off, is truly painful for the recipient.
