This has come up in other threads, but I think the flaw in your tests is that you're not representive of the typical player. You understand the math behind the game far better than any of us could hope to and that gives you quite an edge.
[/ QUOTE ]
While an argument could be made that Statesman is just too good a player for tests like the above to be meaningfulI don't really see "math superiority" having anything to do with it. A lot of tanker players know the numbers involved. (And the only actual "math" that happens is when making your build. I don't know of anyone who does any meaningful math while they play, nor do they need to.)

I mean, really. I've never even eaten a baby once.

Not even once? Aren't you curious? -
Why don't I ever get Protrusion inspirations?

the bug to enervating field being lowered to 30% is not a bug. intended and confirmed by the devs to bring the power into line with the other I5 balancing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Intended? Maybe. But it didn't get confirmed until a while after I5, and Erratic is still owed an apology for being told he was 'mistaken' about the numbers coming up on his screenshots.
[/ QUOTE ]
It still needs to be removed. Let's not let forum drama get in the way of maintaining this excellent list. -

There was no reason to quit the TF you are describing. Just turn on prompt to teleport. In fact turn in on even if you don't have someone griefing you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't work against Team Teleport. -

Channel Name: Weather Channel
Purpose: For Storm Defenders and Controllers to discuss the set, get together with fellow Stormies, and exchange info and ideas!

Excellent channel name!

Kheldian Nation

I also thought this one was pretty cool, especially if it's an allusion to Alien Nation.
Anyway... carry on... -
Thanks for the testing and report.

... the golden light that many of you are shining on the power is new to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
I dunno about "a golden light". But, unlike DS and Propel, at least I have kept Wormhole as a power in my build.
(I do admit to having and even occasionally using Crushing Field... please don't take away my Grav Controller Membership Card!) -

[ QUOTE ]
By comparison to any other controller AT, Grav very simply, sucks.
[/ QUOTE ]
If this wasn't a video game, I'd probably be offended. Gravity controllers are told that they suck so often, that it's becoming some warped self-fulfilling prophecy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, "sucking" is a gravity sort of thing to do... -

UnicyclePeon isn't the only one typing manifestos about it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I should probably feel embarassed now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nah. -
[ QUOTE ]
Also, please note that the biggest advocate against wormhole had a gravity controller but deleted her. For those that currently play a gravi/* controller have, for the most part, found good application for it. I for one think that it is a good alpha strike as well as an excellent tool for herding (which, coincidentally, also involves packing large groups against fences and in corners)
[/ QUOTE ]
If you mean the new Wormhole, Morighan currently has a gravity controller; UnicyclePeon isn't the only one typing manifestos about it.
For that matter I personally think UP and Morighan make lots of good points, so I wasn't bothering to pop up every few posts with "me too". Should I?
The new Wormhole is interesting. It's obviously debatable whether it's as all-around useful as the old one. It seems to me that there's a very good case to be made that one of the weaker (and I use that term out of kindness) powers in the set could have been used to address the control gap, rather than horking Wormhole. Change CF to be AoE stun ... or add AoE stun to Propel ... or do something useful with DS. Yeah there would be someone somewhere upset about such a change, but the point is not to try to find a change that no one will mind, because that will never happen. The point is to find the best change, and it's hard for me to believe that giving up the current functionality of WH entirely is in fact the best possible change.
Note that I am not frothing at the mouth about this. Whatever happens, happens... I will go on playing my "gimpy" Grav controller and enjoying it. Just wanted to let people know that UP is not the only one having a twinge about the new WH. -

And my experiments with the New Wormhole on Test have all been solo. Need to do some teaming now.
[/ QUOTE ]
My guess would be that on a team it won't be too great for reacting to "need more control now" but it probably will contribute to that form of control known as "making the mobs dead."
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe a little of both. On Live my controller usually duos Unyielding missions with a Spines/DA scrapper. Last night we were doing several Nemesis missions and a room would often have a big main group plus one or two smaller sniper-containing groups at a bit of a distance, but of course well within sniper aggro range. With only 1 area hold that's tricky. New Wormhole could have been used to plop a sniper group into the main group and then hold them all together. (I think... the downside would be a longer wait until firing the hold, which might be bad.) -
[ QUOTE ]
There might be a need. If we were going to have one thread for all the gravity testing and threads, this one has the most useful general title. Maybe we could put our likes, dislikes, agreements, disagreements, tests, etc in this thread.
[/ QUOTE ]
My initial reaction is very similar to other people's, and I've more or less said it elsewhere, but I'll put it down here for the sake of officiality.
The new Wormhole is intriguing. It would be a good power if the mobs at the "output end" were clumped or at least stayed in their original configuration. (And it would be possibly a great power if, on top of that fix, the disorient time was lengthened and/or the knockback was changed into knockup, enhanceable to knockback.)
Even if we were getting a version of the New Wormhole fixed according to my druthers, I'd still be miffed at losing the Old Wormhole, for all the reasons enumerated in previous posts. TP Foe doesn't cut it. I guess my first reaction is similar to those that say I'd like to have both a New Wormhole and an Old Wormhole available, and screw Dimension Shift. It would be kind of a cool analogy to GD and GDF.
Of course, I haven't tried PvP yet, and since I don't have a respec available I won't be trying PvP with Dimension Shift any time soon (if ever), so I can't speak to the usefulness of DS in PvP. And my experiments with the New Wormhole on Test have all been solo. Need to do some teaming now. -
[ QUOTE ]
We wanted a "gravity well" that would clump mobs together. Wormhole does that...as a single click, not constant.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, no clumping really unless you have a handy corner to shoot everything into. It tends to arrange the mobs so that they're all set to break into a Texas Line Dance. -
[ QUOTE ]
Single target holds work to diable DE eminators and FF generators (not 100% on the gens). You don't need to wormhole them away.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm. I've tested holding emanators and generators, as well as Total-Focus-stunning them with my tank, and never been able to disable them. (Plus of course it's really hard to hold the emanator that prevents holds...)
Maybe this is something that has changed in a recent issue? Guess I should go test again. -
BTW, currently if you Speed Boost a Singularity, it actually casts Siphon Speed on it. I.e. you get faster, Singularity gets slower.
Doh! (Yes I /bug'd it.)
-
Don't want to be a wet blanket... I'm looking forward to trying this stuff out... but up until now the usefulness of Wormhole to me has been as a precision grabber. Punt DE drops and forcefield generators far away; bring back runners; move specific mobs nearer to my sings or into the cluster around my friendly neighborhood spines-scrapper teammate.
I guess the "bring back" functions may work OK, but the "send away" functions just got a lot messier at best. -

And as been stated before, I too remember walking up to a Tsoo sorcerer and asking him if he wanted to team.

Well... did he? -
What I've always wondered is why some grey-cons have arrows and some don't. Doesn't seem to depend on their level, or their boss/lt/minion status.

[ QUOTE ]
9. Geysers in Firebase Zulu are mostly pretty good but do not count on any geyser to just drop you in some nice, safe spot. If you just walk onto geysers and don't try to control your trajectory, they will sometimes come up short or will drop you into a spawn of nasty things. Watch where you are going and try to steer! (And, if you're going straight up, that means use the camera to pan up!)
[/ QUOTE ]
So far my experience has been: if the geyser is "long jump" style, you need to be pressing your forward-move key during the trip to hit the correct landing zone, but if the geyser is "high jump" style, you generally should _not_ press forward until you've gone up for a good portion of the arc. -

Has anyone tried running CoH in Linux using VMWhare???

The virtual video adapter in a VMware VM is (currently anyway) a "generic video card" sort of thing that does not support 3D graphics acceleration. -
[ QUOTE ]
Boo! Please keep Outcast minions interesting! If they are doing the same damage as other minions but using flares, ice bolt, stone fists etc instead of knives and pistols, I am very much in favor of keeping their flavor the way it is post issue 2.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, they are quite tasty. -

We all got the SO for it and it said complete but the Good Dr Vahz never showed, could that be throwing something off, we actually waited there for like 5 minutes but no Dr.
[/ QUOTE ]
The Doc doesn't appear in that TF, so that isn't your problem... -
[ QUOTE ]
Were you part of the team when Jurrasik was defeated? Did you recieve a reward when Jurrasik was defeated?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm, so does this imply that the retroactive TF-badge datamining is only looking for acquisition of the end-of-TF award? If so that would explain why I didn't get the Bastion badge I guess... since my tray filled up in the last fight and I didn't get the final SO drop (if I remember correctly). -
[ QUOTE ]
It's really sad that people don't want this game to be challenging. I was ready to quit before the +1 "bug". Now the lower levels are actually more fun than the higher ones.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm enjoying the +1 mob missions with my level 30 tank (still too easy, but better), and with my level 10 gravity controller -- not exactly a build that's a killing machine -- that I created after update 2 went live. But from what I'm hearing, it's a stretch in the 10-20 levels that may be overly tough.
