  1. Recent tests have shown that by far the three best procs to have in Carrion Creepers currently are Impeded Swiftness, Positron's Blast and Javelin Volley, however the last of those three is VERY expensive, being a pvp IO.

    (At one time, Posi and Jav were not as damaging as they are now, because they only proced on aoe damage from the Creepers, but they currently proc on all damage from the Creepers.)

    The damage procs for Trap of the Hunter and Explosive Strike proc much less often, making them not currently recommended for this power. (However, Trap of the Hunter is very recommended for Roots!)

    I would try some combination of Accuracy, Damage and Recharge (to make it permanent) along with Positron's Blast and Impeded Swiftness damage procs for optimum slotting. If you can afford Javelin's Volley, then make that a third proc in the power.

    Plant/Fire/Fire!

    Here is my Plant/Fire/Ice just to provide some thoughts. If I could make some suggestions on yours:

    1) Put the Contagious Confusion proc in Seeds (swap it for the Confuse IO you have in it)

    2) Add a Range IO to Seeds if you can find a slot. Range in cones is pure win.

    3) Add a Range IO to Fire Breath, it really increases cones area of effect.

    4) Spirit Tree and Spore Burst are not required powers, but can be useful tools to have if you can find space for them. Spirit Tree shines in Ambushes and against AVs; Spore Burst works well against groups of Villains/Heroes in Task Forces/Strike Forces. Entangle is helpful against AVs.

    5) Try to get some Accuracy in Creepers, tests have shown the two best procs in it are the Energy Dmg and slow. The immobilize and knockback procs don't even come close to them. (The Javelin dmg one would be as good as the best one, if you can afford it.)

    6) The Gladiator's Armor +3% Defense IO may be the single most expensive IO in the game.

    7) If you like damage, try to take Embrace of Fire sooner.

    8) Going Musscular, will you have enough endurance? Don't drop Consume, it also gives you 50% Endurance Drain Protection for two mins after using it.

    9) With the latest patch 4 days ago, you should now (I think) be able to take Rain of Fire at level 35, and Fireball at level 38 or 41.

    10) A dmg IO or two in strangle can be nice.

    11) Do you use Combustion a lot, or more play from range?

  3. To the original poster: I could not read your orignal link, but maybe this might give you a few ideas.

    Here is what I am shooting for with my Plant/Storm. She will have softcap of 45% S/L, almost softcap of 44.2% E, decent endurance spent/recovery ratio, and perma-Hasten with Spirit Alpha. I haven't gotten to any Incarnates past Alpha yet.

    I'm also pretty happy with my power selections and their slotting. Take care.

  4. Here is a build that keeps your S/L softcap and adds E softcap, which I think will help you in certain situations like Rikti. It also includes full invis. which may help you in setting up your alpha.

    I would include the chance for hold proc in your aoe immobilize as I have done here. (this build is set up for the next expansion when Mace powers can be selected at 35, 41, 44; instead of 41,44,47 as they are now). With the Spiritual Alpha, this build will give you perma Hasten.

    Also, I would seriously consider setting it on 'no bosses' when doing Carnie tip missions solo! Hope this build helps a little.

  5. Here is a build I came up with:

    It has almost softcap on S/L (well over it with power boost), has perma Domination on its own and perma Hasten if you add the Spiritual Alpha (click Incarnate On button to turn Spiritual Alpha on).

    It's a bit weak to energy attacks but if you want E defense stronger you should probably switch to Mace pool.

    Roots is slotted as a damage power, not a control power, its a fantastic aoe dmg power that gives great control without even being slotted for it.

    I kept all the powers you wanted from the primary and secondary sets, changed the power pools a bit, as you won't need Aid Self with Hibernate.

    This build also gives you full invisibility with Stealth and the IO in Combat Jumping. I use Ninja Run for my travel power, rather than Super Jump.

    Range is VERY useful in Seeds of Confusion. I put one in, but if you can find a slot for a second one, it will only make it even better.

    I just threw this build together real fast, it gives you the defense softcap of 45% for Smashing and Lethal (often referred to on these boards as S/L). It lacks Fly, as I use Ninja Run as my travel power, with a flight pack to zip up over vertical obsticals.

    Looking at your new post, the endurance use is really going to kill you. I only clicked on the toggles you really must have on my build, and it's still a little high for my taste (recovery minus used is slightly less than +2 per second). I would try to get on teams and make getting a cardiac alpha slot your first priority, it will help you so much. Once you get one, you can start turning on additional toggles, with maybe Dark Embrace as your first one to add.

    See if Fearsome Stare gives you enough -hit. Toggle on Darkest Night's additional -hit only when you really must have it, it can be a huge endurance drain. After all, all of your pets also reduce your enemies 'to hit'.

    Also, I wanted to mention on your new build you just posted, to be sure to toggle off both Grave Knights and Twilight's Grasp. You have I/Os in them that are messing up the accuracy totals for all your powers when those two are toggled on. (The toggle on/off is the little round light in the upper right of some of the powers) With them toggled off, for example, you'll see your accuracy in Fearsome Stare is actually 176 (which is fine), not 252.

    I'm not saying mine is a super fantastic build, but it avoids most purples, all pvp, and may at least give you some ideas. Enemy groups that use energy only attacks will be a bit of a weakness, so Darkest Night on them. Here is the build:

    I am pretty new to Brutes, having only played a SS/WP to 15, but I loved the power of SS. I've been trying to decide whether to make a SS/DA (safer) or a SS/FA (more lovely damage). I didn't use expensive purple sets or PVP, though I have enough merits for the Kinetic Combats etc.

    44.1 % S/L Def, 38.5 % E/N Def, ok-ish recharge, ok-ish endur (with cardiac), good damage on the damage powers

  8. Hi Lewes,
    With the Ice Mastery APP Madre Nature has about 41-42% def against S/L. I redid her with the Leviathan PPP to give you an example. You didn't say which four powers from it so I took a guess. This build has perma-Hasten (with Spiritual), 20% S/L, 23% E/N, 43% S/L Resist and decent endurance recovery.

    I took all the powers I like for both sets (which is all but one) so I can see how you have no room to get to Tough/Weave. Hope this gives you a few thoughts.

  10. Since you mentioned both builds, I wanted to throw out this vote for Fire/Storm, with Fire being the mystical portion, and the storms being summoned via mechanical devices.

    Fire is king of damage and Storm adds even more damage, as well as tons of mitigation. This build has soft capped defense to S/L/E as well as perma-Hasten and decent endurance recovery. It also gives you a near permanent pocket tank pet.

    I also included Hover, as it will allow you to 'fly' while doing battle (per your concept). Using the actual 'Fly' power while in battle incurs an accuracy penalty I belive. I use Ninja Run as my travel power, but you could add Fly to the build instead of Assault, I just threw that in for even more beautiful damage.

    I thought I would post my build, just to give you a few thoughts. It has soft cap S/L of 45% and almost soft cap Energy defense (third most important after S/L) of 42.3%

    It also has perma-hasten (with Spiritual core) which helps your powers recharge super fast, and pretty nice endurance recovery. It's like having your cake and eating it too!

    Flares and Inferno are great places for set bonuses, even if you never use those powers. I went with Manuevers rather than Boxing/Tough/Weave, as it let me soft-cap without having to take two other powers I didn't need. It also will give defense to team members if you join a team.

    I took tactics just in case you might need it, though I think the accuracy on the powers in this build is pretty good. I wouldn't run it often, and if you think you don't need it, you could always take Assault instead for a bit more damage.

    Vengeance I took to slot fhe fifth Luck of the Gambler, which helps you get perma(nent) Hasten. It's also a great power if you team.

    I've read on the boards here that the Summon Disruptor is the best Patron pet for Corruptors, and that it makes a great tank as it comes with nice resistances. I added more resistance to him (your Dark Servant will benefit from it also) for even more tanky goodness. As you can see, instead of being up for four minutes and down for eleven minutes, he's actually only down for about one second

    The Stealth IO in Sprint gives you full Invisibilty with your Shadow Fall, when you want it.

    By the way, you have done an AWESOME job for only playing one month!! You rock!!

  13. I really like your idea of a shield/ice/leviathan tank as an ice/water ninja.
    So I just did up a build real quick to see what it would be like. It seems like you would be very protected and yet still throw out good damage. I don't pretend this is perfect, but here it is. I tried to select powers that suited a solo ninja character, rather than a traditional "tank" but that still gave you all the untouchableness a real ninja would have.

    I skipped a couple of the Shield abilities because they were more "true tank" group/team powers.

    I picked stealth because it seems to fit an ice/water ninja theme, making you more translucent, plus it adds defense. All three positions (melee, ranged, aoe) are defense capped. You also have nice resistances, over fifty percent on S/L.

    I added kick purely for ninja theme reasons, otherwise jab is preferred, but either way, it is mostly a placeholder to get tough and weave.

    I added fly figuring the character could summon up an Arctic Wind to fly upon, and its a good place for a slow resist IO, something an ice/water ninja should be resistant to

    You can use Sprint to achieve full invis. with a Stealth IO and its cheaper endur. than SS.

    I added School of Sharks instead of the other single target shark attack power you had, since the build seems to have enough single target attacks for a chain, and they are both shark (water) powers, and the aoe immobilze (+ aoe dmg) might be more useful to stop runners, plus you can slot an aoe hold proc in it.

    I also added the pet from the Leviathan pool, figuring an almost perma (water themed) pet would add to the damage you do, and should survive as you would be attracting the aggro with your auto tank taunts.

    Hasten is not perma, but 18+ seconds from perma doesn't seem bad with all the defense and resistance you have. Endurance use also seems reasonable. I hope this gave you a few ideas. Kick butt as your ice/water ninja warrior!
  14. Does the Mace power pool aoe immobilize, web envelope, have -kb?
    I've read that the Mu aoe immobilize, electric fences, does; and that the Leviathan aoe immobilize, shark something, doesn't?

    Great job! Can this be added to the sticky at top as there are no Fire/Kin Corruptors listed in it?

    Is there a reason the Fire/Kin Controller is played much more than the Fire/Kin Corruptor? The Corruptor seems like it would be much more fun!
    And it looks like Web Envelope + near-perma Rain of Fire + Scourge would be a receipe for unstoppably fast fiery death!

    I just glanced real quickly at your build, definitely closer to mine. One thing I did notice, on Ice Storm and Frost Breath, Impeded Swiftness proc will get you the same amount of extra damage and cost a lot less than the Javelin Volley proc.

    Will try to drum into my heat shrivelled brain to post build tonight. Bloodbath has also given excellent advice above.

  17. Snow Storm IS the most crucial power for PVP, as it's also -Fly. Land it on your enemies and watch them cry.

    Welcome to the Mids designer, a fun and addictive place to be.

    In /Dark, you really don't want to skip Darkest Night, Shadowfall and Dark Servant, especially Darkest Night and Dark Servant, who many consider the best pet in the game.

    I also noticed that many of your sets were the pvp sets (usually listed last in the set listings) and these cost astronomical amounts of inf, often hundreds of millions of inf per IO.

    Also the Hami-O's you have in Combat Jumping and especially Hasten aren't really helping, three regular recharge IOs in Hasten will help you more and cost less.

    To the second poster: A nice looking build, great defense, but In my opinion you don't want to skip Fearsome Stare, it's probably the most important talent in the tree, and the one most /dark open with on a group of enemies.

    I will post my Ice/Dark build tonight when I get home, but even with SOs Ice/Dark can be pretty nice. My build aims for S/L/E defense, and enough recharge to get Hasten as close as I can to permanent.

  19. I've been looking at tank sets to start a tank as well. There's not difinitive answer but I think the starter tank set probably is Ice Armor if you actually want to tank. I believe it is the only set with two taunt auras.

    I think the reason some think it doesn't shine, is that it is a defense set, and it is much easier later on when you have billions of influence to add defense to a resistence set (giving you double protection) than it is to add resistance to a defense set like Ice. So Ice tends to end up with a single layer of protection. But really, to counteract that, add an attack set with some built in tricks up its sleeve, like Ice Assault with Ice Slice.

    By the way, have you downloaded the free utility Mids yet? It makes it so easy to look at sets and see what powers they have, what you like, don't like, etc.

  20. I have found in my short time playing the game (since last Halloween) that the single best way to get invited to a team, is to log on planning to have fun soloing. You will get one or more team invites in seconds.

    That at least seems to happen to me, and I play on Victory (though it does happen more on blue side, once enough others play with you and have your main name, I think you show up on your red alts too.)

    You didn't mention what server you were on. Maybe it would be worth it to you to tranfer one of your toons over to Freedom or Virtue and see how getting teams there works out. If it works out great, transfer an occasional character over when it fits into your budget.

    I have to say, I find CoX a much more innovative game (sidekicking, leveling pacts, side-switching) than WoW, but WoW does seem to have its 'serverless' pug system working (even though they have servers just like CoX does).

    If WoW has got it working, it can't be that hard to do, so maybe the developers should get something similar working here. It would seem a high priority to help get those who want to group, their groups.

    So until Ms. Liberty goes rogue, make mine CoX!

  21. I've been thinking about making a Corr who is not fire also, as I have three fire that I love, /Dark, /Traps, /Storm.

    The decision has been between Ice/ and Archery/ but I've decided to go with Ice. I think I will be pairing it with /Kin since I haven't played that set yet.

    I think Ice/ would be a good non fire for you to try, and try pairing it with /Traps (great defense), /Dark (great debuffs), Storm (you will feel like a god!) or /Kin (if you like AOE damage, think about a fulcrum shifted Blizzard's damage!)

    Archery/ and its rapidly recharging (20 seconds-ish) crashless nuke would be the other set you might consider.
  22. Syntax, your reply came off as kind of mean, not everyone is a master of Mids, or wants to master it in order to have fun in COH. (I happen to love Mids myself.)

    Bubba, I'm not a king of fire tanking by any means, but I am gonna post a Fire/Fire tank just to give you an idea of some options. I went Mu instead of Fire as it gave me what I wanted in two power choices instead of three, giving me one more slot for another power.

    This is not the perfect tank build, just some ideas, I know there is probably plenty wrong with it, but I believe it softcaps Smashing, Lethal, and probably also Energy/Negative with one small purple luck. I chose full invisibility/sprint to allow a tank to run up and position himself just where he wants to without aggroing most enemies before he cuts loose with his alpha (since Stealth also adds almost four percent defense).

    I usually post the short form post, but I'm gonna post the long form here as I'm not sure if it might not help you more since you aren't that into mids. Just use the parts that do help you and ignore the rest.

    And in my opinion, Combat Jumping's defense is better than the 20% slow resist in Temp. Protection.

    Some of these can be expensive but if you don't have a lot of inf, do five tip missions a day on every character you can manage to and you'll soon have just about any IO you want.

    PS If you don't love stealth, you can substitute Maneuvers.

  23. This last answer confused me. I always get the hero screen, but I always launch it from the desktop. How else would you launch it? (In other words, how would you launch it so you get the screen for the chr type you last played.)

    Don't forget, you can now recolor it to perhaps make it look more innocent or inconspicuous than it does now. I went the other direction, making it a vibrant green with blood red lips and veins. Maybe you could make it white and blue and nickname it Icetrap.

    But it won't hurt you not to have it.
  25. Who wouldn't want a ranged Fortunata on their team, with all the team buffs they bring with them, Mind Link + assorted low-endurance-cost better-than-Leadership-Pool powers? Your ranged Fortunata should have no problem getting teams and making them better than they were before. Do you enjoy playing him/her?

    Server two is a harder choice for me. Can your brute tank? Doms are always great fun too.

    If you like all six equally, don't think you have to limit yourself to just two of them.
