My 1st IO Build: Necro/Dark
Just a few minor tweaks from my viewpoint, based on my own necro/dark:
- Howling Twilight - Not sure why Ragnarok, really... though I imagine the knockdown looks amusing.
- Soulbound Allegiance on the Grave Knights (your main damage dealers), rather than the Lich, who doesn't do enough damage to ever really benefit from the BU proc.
- Oppressive Gloom - I actually have this 6-slotted with Absolute Amazement.
Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas
Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.
Luckily for you my log in timed out and I lost my giant post.
So I will make this short.
I think your loosing sight of the build and what IOs are about. You might not be doing this, but to me it looks like your putting Purple IOs in because they look cool and the common thoughts in these MMOs is purple is better. Which is the furthest from the truth in this game at least. Purple IOs offer 3 things. Damage, Recharge and Recovery. If your looking for anything else pick another cheaper IO set.
Unless your a 60 month vet you need to pick another power before you can just take flight alone. So you need Hover or the Air Superiority first. Flight is also over slotted with 3 slots and then another 3 in Swift. I think with 1 IO your at max flight speed. So you have 4 slots you can use some place else.
You have no defenses or minimal resistances excluding what you get from bodyguard mode.
You do have Oppressive Gloom which is really good and I am personally at the point where getting OG on any build that can have it is worth taking. The Proc you have it does not work atm though, but on the market forum it did mention that in i21 it should be working as it appears to be working in Beta.
Unless I am missing something I don't know why you would slot Hami's in Hasten. Again maybe something I don't know. But I think your just loosing out on recharge, a generic recharge IO will offer you better numbers.
Again another Gladiators IO in Brawl ? Once again I don't think you know how much these IOs cost or how to slot properly / effectively. Now you might have just slotted that in there as a goof but you need to make that clear when posting. Otherwise guys like me will take it serious ( as serious as build creating can be in a game ). But you get the point.
Teleport foe ? For what ?

Dark Necro is a very common build for simple Thematic reasons. Robot Dark is another popular build. I would search the forums for those builds and look at a bunch of them, not just one build. I would look for posters that have played their builds instead of those that seem to be talking out their backsides. Unfortunately there are several players on these forums that post about doing things that numerically I do not see them accomplishing because their builds do not post the numbers to be able to do what they say. Simply fighting a GM or AV I cannot see if your not resistant cap or defense capped. The only way your gonna know who is genuine is by learning about the game mechanics yourself.

I play solo a lot - for large groups I can pick mobs off one by one by TPing them to me.

I'm not out to min/max here or theorycraft. I'm just after something that will match or exceed my current SO/Normal IO outfit and increase end recharge so I don't run out when grouped for incarnate trials or tf's.
Going by the tooltips in Mids I thought I had a build that would do that and am after advice to fine tune it.

OP: Your build looks a whole-lotta-expensive for very little return. If you already have your necro/dark at 50, try seeing where you need extra help and begin building to address that hole.
I had a conversation with Circuit_Boy on these boards about a year ago when I first started building my character. He had this to offer, and I have found it excellent advice for every character I play (not just masterminds):
Basically, I just applied fundamental game principles to what I wrote there. I typically use RedTomax's "City of Data" for the underlying data about powers themselves--it can sometimes be tricky to use, but it's usually 100% reliable. Then I think about how powers can stack with one another, or how a player might be able to leverage the powers themselves for more. Hence the strategy of spamming as much -ToHit Debuffs (in AOE form) from all sources--myself, the Lich (who has AOE -ToHit Debuff), and the Dark Servant (who has even better AOE -ToHit Debuff than I do).
I do this for most characters. "What's the primary thing this power does? How can it work with other powers I have? Is there any synergy between powers that I can make use of?" Sometimes, there is; sometimes, there isn't. (For example, consider Sonic/Kinetics, where a player can hit a spawn with Transference to cap a teams +Damage Buff, putting most at the Damage Cap, and then using Howl to add -Damage Resistance Debuff, to put the total damage over the Damage Cap.) (Circuit_Boy, Nov.2010)
One hand it's so obvious, so sensible. On the other, it makes building far more straightforward.
So (and just as an initial pass-through, and as not to repeat what was commented on above):
1) Darkest night? why use the proc? and why slot accuracy? It is auto-hit.
2) Fly is at the speedcap automatically now. This is overslotted.
3) Howling Twilight with Ragnarok? What do you use this power for? Some use it pretty often for the stun and -regen; others save it for rez. The damage is pretty low in general so I don't know if boosting this aspect is efficient.
4) Why life drain? The damage is pretty pathetic as a mastermind, it costs more than 2x twilight grasp as far as endurance, heals for less, and doesn't heal your pets/teammates. Anytime you would want to cast life drain, it would probably be better to cast twilight grasp.
5) Grave Knights: These are your main damage dealers - here is a good place for procs, the purple pet set, and making sure their accuracy is capped.
6) compare to the Lich - he does wonderful controls and has very few options (relatively) for doing damage. Soulbound allegiance is a waste for this pet.
7) Why the stealth proc in teleport foe?
There are many ways to modify this build to be a) cheaper and b) more effective. Plainguy has linked some of the best resources to start with.
Plainguy - I always love reading your advice.

I didn't see your reply while I posted.
Mids says I get +56%Def, +94% Recharge and+56%ToHit. Looked usefull to me for getting powers up faster and missing less.

When I get to my home computer, I'll see if I can find some model builds using inexpensive IO slotting.
Your intro makes sense. Right now I'm lacking +EndRec for keeping all the toggles up and firing out all the -tohit.

2) Yup just discovered this
3) I use it for -regen mostly. I've never actually had to rez anyone with it yet.
4) -tohit
5) Yeah going to swap those around or find something better for Lich
7) Thought it might help with shadow fall when I'm soloing and just want to blitz a click glowy or kill x and minions mission
Okay did some tweaking based on above advice and here are my results:

Hi Kristina,
I just threw this build together real fast, it gives you the defense softcap of 45% for Smashing and Lethal (often referred to on these boards as S/L). It lacks Fly, as I use Ninja Run as my travel power, with a flight pack to zip up over vertical obsticals.
Looking at your new post, the endurance use is really going to kill you. I only clicked on the toggles you really must have on my build, and it's still a little high for my taste (recovery minus used is slightly less than +2 per second). I would try to get on teams and make getting a cardiac alpha slot your first priority, it will help you so much. Once you get one, you can start turning on additional toggles, with maybe Dark Embrace as your first one to add.
See if Fearsome Stare gives you enough -hit. Toggle on Darkest Night's additional -hit only when you really must have it, it can be a huge endurance drain. After all, all of your pets also reduce your enemies 'to hit'.
Also, I wanted to mention on your new build you just posted, to be sure to toggle off both Grave Knights and Twilight's Grasp. You have I/Os in them that are messing up the accuracy totals for all your powers when those two are toggled on. (The toggle on/off is the little round light in the upper right of some of the powers) With them toggled off, for example, you'll see your accuracy in Fearsome Stare is actually 176 (which is fine), not 252.
I'm not saying mine is a super fantastic build, but it avoids most purples, all pvp, and may at least give you some ideas. Enemy groups that use energy only attacks will be a bit of a weakness, so Darkest Night on them. Here is the build:

I'm thinking with all the -tohit my pets and I can throw out - I might not need to be soft-capped to be soft-capped if I'm understanding the details at paragon wiki correctly? Might afford some leeway.

You got it! ;D
Hi folks!
Was just poking about in mids attempting to come up with an IO build I might like to get some day (have yet to figure out how to come up with the hundred of millions prices seem to be at these days), and would like some feedback on where I might improve it.
I mostly solo, might get around to doing incarnate trials at some point but I'm mostly waiting on solo incarnate stuff really.
Thanks in advance!
