Can’t an /invul Brute/Tank do the same things that a Stone could and better? When did Stone get better than /Invl?

I mean why call a set invulnerability when it isn't?

hmm going to try out a DM/Invl.I have an Elec/Invl (only 15 atm)
until you get the nice shields its tough going with just S/L resists and Dullpain..

DM/invul looks like a fun set to try out!

It’s mostly for concept... I've dusted off my inv/EM tank and now @ 28 he is so tough! I love to be surrounded by enemies and /laugh at alphas

I understand that Brutes won't hit the defensive/resist caps that Tanks do and having played a Fire/Fire Brute to 50 I'd like a tougher Brute.

I don't like the look of Stone and WP/SS is soooo “everyone has one”.

How would this work in regard to ST, AOE damage? Or should I go with the EM?
On Tanks I understand that EM got nerfed but I figure on Brutes having Smashing/Energy attacks+ fury+BU would be nice.

I have a low level elec/elec Brute (12ish) I just don’t how the Elec set looks,..

How does EM stack up to ElecM?

I figured the Elec Melee with some endurance drains in them could help with Brute Endurance issues.
Has anyone slotted their electrical attacks for endurance drain?

And would anyone have a build to throw out at me? One for leveling and one after respec.

well I personally like my now 28 Inv/EM...

for me at least, being a tank isn't about damage, its about pissing off the mobs so your team can go to work. If I feel ike doing damage that night, I play my Blasters or scrappers. If I feel like being more team suport oriented I play my controllers/defenders.

It fits my concept and I like the look of EMand the sound of it.

also SS is soooo everyone in their mother has it now

I play mine now @ 30ish and I control fine.. better in fact than every controller I've been group with to date...then again I set my immo, cinders, disorients etc to be up REALLY fast with at least 2 ACC's so I can spam firecages (after Tank has agro) and hold much more than others I've been with.(and they stick)

Leadership helps as well

Fire/Emp is a fine powerset.. with mine I can keep 4 team members fortified/buffed at all times all the while controlling/ healing at will

on a side note... I got my thugs/Dark to 32 last night..the last buff makes my pets look dope!
I took a Wu Tang Clan theme with my MM so I have some nifty macros that Ole Dirty B%&*&*d and his possie say


lots of fun but sorta boring in comparison to my other AT's as my pets do all the work( dont have any attacks myself).. but quite easy to level and once I got SO's leveling went waaaay up..

I have to admit that it took me a bit to get him down, particulalrly in teams bodyguard is fantastic..

one more hyjack.. wtf is up with the Arsonist?

are they going to fix that? does he stay back with the upgrade? 2 attacks and he thinks he'sa tank and gets 1-2shotted lol!

I didn't pick it up on my Fire/Fire Brute but thats just me....I didn't see a need for it..

Then again I didn't pick up hasten until 47(when I really didn't have anything to choose) , again didn't really feel a need for it 1-50...

Yes. I prefer Scrappers with their high sustained damage without having to work with another factor (fury) to deal good damage. I also like having survival on an AT that also doesn't draw all the aggro onto themselves to the point that I feel like I have to play the most durable sets exclusively (like WP) or pick up Tough/Weave or go crazy with IOs.

The problem I always see is that people who play a specific class (Brute) always assume everyone else wants to play that class too. Contrary to your belief of how impossibly cool Brutes are, not everyone is going to stop playing other ATs to be a Brute.

This is just my observation from playing various Scrappers and Tanks and now my Brute in relation to the OP's question.

In regard to Fury I really don’t see how or why everyone complains about it. Like really it’s not that big of a deal; in a group you can maintain 50-70% quite easy and solo just about the same...If you feel you’re lacking non/pre-fury damage, then add one damage enhancement to your attacks

While I like Scrappers and Tanks lots..If you want to play a toon that is very forgivable and easy(easier) than both...then Brute is for you.

Once they go Rouge, like I said, from my perspective I just see a Brute filling roles that say an off tank or an off Scrapper would fill now. Scrappers are, imo lots more boring to play and like the poster above me said "set it and forget it".

Granted Brutes won't replace Stone, Invul - top Alpha absorbing tanks but the latter yes.

I just returned after about a year off so these AE teams are a new thing to me...

Yeah those AE.PL farming groups-while GREAT on XP are really, really, really(you get the idea)...monotonous... and sometimes horrid if you get a team that has no idea... IF you get into a good team then you breeze through and gain levels very quickly...but still ho-hum imo

AE/PL farming is-to me at least- are like One night stands, yeah you get a piece but you don't know who they are and it’s not fulfilling... as opposed to having a partner which in the long run is better

Quests/TF's/ Story arcs are more fun, you get to actually meet ‘people’ not the l33t gamers that have the best min/max sets that simply leave if the group isn’t L33t enough etc.


Granted, in the end we are all doing the same thing... trying to level up, obtain new powers. More influence/infamy

Like others have stated it’s not the destination but the journey there

I dont think I can play a Tank or Scrapper after I played my Fire/Fire Brute..

Fury isn't much of a big deal if you're on a good team or solo..

yeaH I considered Gost Widow but no true "AOE" immobile kinda kept me away..

some the best midigation and you dont have to knockback foes to do it all the while pissing off your Team...you're a Quasy Controller with it..

Yay I was planning on picking it(hasten) up @ 47(45 now).. like I said, I haven't felt a need for it, generally my attacks are up pretty quickly.

I haven't gotten into IO's yet... I'll make sure to see if I can purchase that one to, like you said, said one less toggle is good and have the extra resistance

on a side note burn+elec fences=yay!

thanks for the kind replies.. yeah I have the fighting pool.. just completed the MU Arc and am now going to respec for Burn so I can toast mofos while they are caged

Rof-I know that some don't like this, on my Tank I dont need it but I play like a crasy man with my Brute and tend to /faceplant... being able to get and be right back into the fight up is neto, and the animation is sweet!

I don't have hasten, I have one recharge in each attack, 2 in FSC and they seem to be up pretty often. I just don't see a need for it on my Brute at this point..perhaps later I'll get it (@47) & respec to add slots to it..

semi-hyjack I was planning on playing my baby Elec/Elc Brute... can you slot attacks for endurance drain? Since we bascially just need ACC?

Man I can't stand it I love this toon so much...I've just returned after about a year and was playing my Blaster, got him to 46. I was trying to get him to 50(my first hah!)

but then I logged into my 32ish Fire/Fire Brute and SMASH™ is FUUUNNN! He's no about to hit 41; mowing through mobs like its not even funny! Haven't touched my Blaster in a week!

If I get on a great team that throws buffs on me I just run from group to group gloriously laying down the SMASH™ on everything haha!!

Granted he's not as tough as my Fire/fire tank-thats not saying much since /FA isn't one of the tougher sets..

but mein! SMASH™ with a bit of TOASTING is glorious!!

When I came back I had to respec; I used the Fire/Fire guide(I6).. while it was outdated I was about to obtain some info from it and add my own info for new players to the end of it.

Once I hit 50 I'll write up a Fire/Fire Brute guide of my own.

Since he tends to drop alot more frequently than my Tank I picked up ROF..WOW !! haha too funny luv iT!

All in all I know that Fire as been nerfed and isn't the FOTM anymore, based upon the amount of Fire Brutes that I've seen-or lack there of. Its still a viable set

I'd like to try another Brute soon, I have an Elec/Elec Brute that is 12ish but I just didn't seem to get into him-yet.

In any event I'd thought I'd share my love of da SMASH™ with my fellow Brutes!
