  1. Bless you, Geko!
In my case, I changed my game password, closed and restarted my browser, and was able to log in right away.

The show was a psychological exercise, and I didn't even much care for that aspect. I felt Amy was out of character.
I think 36 years of isolation, abandonment, and fear would drive anyone to extremes. Note that once she's reunited with Rory, she starts to come back around: "I'd forgotten how much I loved this..." And ultimately, she does agree to let her timeline be undone. Her initial reluctance is reminiscent of the 10th Doctor's fear of regeneration: "Some new man goes sauntering away... and I'm dead."

If the bit at the end felt a little "tacked on"...well apparently, it was. This episode was originally supposed to run in the first half of the season. For some reason, it got pushed back, and they made some edits to make it fit as best they could. Which explains why Amy and Rory aren't suffering any angst over the loss of their baby -- it was supposed to be taking place before they even knew they were going to be parents.

I think she was probably joking, but there is precedent for Timelords having some control over their regenerations (see Romana in "Destiny of the Daleks", or K'anpo in "Planet of the Spiders"). The Doctor never seems to, but that might just be because he's always fighting/postponing the process instead of accepting it peacefully ("I don't want to go!").
  6. Vanguard gloves -- I just really like the design.
    Blast Goggles, up or down.
  7. Thanks for taking the community's comments to heart. The tweaks bring them much closer to the original spirit of the CoT, definitely an improvement.

I assume that Romana's leisurely, controlled regeneration is the default mode (see also: K'anpo in "Planet of the Spiders"). The Doctor usually only regenerates when he's on the brink of death, so the process is more traumatic and he has less control.

Anyway, all versions of the show tend to use "Timelord" to mean "the species that lives on Gallifrey", rather than a specific rank ("You look human!" "No, you look Timelord.")

The Siegel and Shuster case is different, because they created Superman on their own and shopped it around to several different places before coming to DC. Thus, it wasn't work-for-hire. They could (and did) sell the copyright, but because it wasn't work-for-hire, the law allows them to attempt to reclaim the rights after a certain period:

Exactly. Just like there is no way for a US account holder to be tier 9 unless they fork over (or have already forked over) money. Remember, you're not buying Reward Tiers directly -- the Rewards are an extra perk you get by spending money on other things. Longtime US subscribers achieved those high Tiers by spending money on many years' worth of subscription fees. Now everyone else has the option of getting there by spending money on goodies in the store. Everyone is getting the exact same deal: Buy stuff, get Reward perks. Totally equal, totally fair.

You are asking for extra Rewards based on hypothetical money you might have spent under other circumstances. How would that be in any way fair to the people who did spend real money for all those years?

Even though you, yourself had played the game from the earliest opportunity in your country?
Absolutely. The Veterans Rewards (now Tokens) are perks based on how much money you've invested into the game. The people who have been playing longer have put more money in, so they get more perks. Before now, latecomers had no way to ever "catch up". With Freedom, everyone CAN catch up, if they choose to make that investment. I don't see how it could be any fairer.

Sure you can. Just buy enough Points from the store to earn the number of Tokens it will take to push you into the top tier.
  14. I can't help but notice that in the new flick, Cap mounts his shield on the front of his motorcycle, just like Reb Brown did in '79. A deliberate call-back?

Seriously, there's been some great ones.

Also, until I listed my alts side-by-side, I never noticed how fond I was of alliteration...
  18. 50s with Incarnate boosts slotted:
    Mekanikron (Mace/Shield Brute): A - t4, J - t4, L - t4, I - t4, D - t4
    Inevitable Cat-Girl (Claws/Regen Scrapper): A - t2

50s with Alpha unlocked, but nothing slotted:
    Grey Goddess (Rad/Mental Blaster)
    Scarlet Spike (Spines/SR Scrapper)
    Ozone Imp (Elec/Elec Blaster)
    Bitter Blade (DB/WP Brute)

50s who haven't unlocked the Alpha slot:
    Cassiopella (Invuln/SS Tank)
    Sapphire Sigma (Night Widow)
    War Dragon (DM/SR Scrapper)
    Princess Penumbra (Dark/Dark Corruptor)
    Commander Jade (Bane Spider)
    Brother Thunderbolt (Elec/Elec Brute)
  19. I'm considering trying out Premium for a couple of months, just to see how restrictive it feels. I'm not crazy about the Incarnate stuff anyway, so I wouldn't miss that. I've been around long enough that I'd hopefully have the archetypes unlocked, and enough extra slots to keep me going for a while. Really, it'll probably come down to how "limited" the chat and auction house are, since I do use both of those quite a bit.

Got my subscription copy in the mail yesterday. Dunno when it will show up on store shelves. Scanning the article would be a no-no, but I guess it's ok to show the cover, so you know what to look for:

I did mistype...it's actually the September issue. I guess subscribers get it before the stores do.
  22. The new issue of PC Gamer (September issue, "Bioshock Infinite" cover) has a lengthy piece on City of Heroes, spotlighting the new endgame raids and the upcoming Freedom changes. It's mostly stuff we already know, but there's a sidebar about the in-game store that I believe has some items we haven't seen before: A "Rocket Board" (sort of a flying skateboard), Circle of Thorns costume pieces, "Gunslinger" costume pieces (the picture shows a female in a sort of "saloon girl" outfit, with a big ribbon in her hair, a striped corset, and some kind of fancy belt...holsters, maybe?), and some of the Titan Weapons (a magic-looking staff, a fancy sword, and a spiked club, plus the railroad sign we've already seen).

They also have a section spotlighting some of the player-made AE arcs:

111022 - Doctor Geist and the Scientific Method
    375018 - A Hero in Need...is a Friend Indeed!
337333 - Captain Skylark Shadowfancy and the Tomorrownauts of Today!
398110 - By Any Other Name
    404549 - The Do-It-Yourself Casino Heist Project
(Congrats to the players who's work got featured!)

It's not a total puff-piece -- the section on the Incarnate raids mentions the problems with lag and crashes, and the confusing rewards system -- but overall it's very positive.
  23. These days, I automatically give five stars to anything that isn't a farm, just out of gratitude that someone is still putting forth an effort.

The Queue is not a bad idea, but it was a bad fit for the Trials. Trials are some of the toughest missions in the game (especially in the early weeks, before people got fully slotted out and worked out strategies), which is the last place you want to be thrown in with a random, minimum-sized PUG. A Queue that worked for regular missions would be pretty handy: Instead of a list of Trials, you'd have various categories to check off (looking for story arcs, looking for tips, looking for scanner/safeguard, etc.), and the Queue would put you in a team with like-minded players of a similar level. I think something like that would get more use.
