They've always done that. I can't remember what settings I used to get around the problem, but it might have been something along the lines of keeping them on passive and micro-managing them.

I'd recommend getting a thermal, sonic or bubbles MM or you'll have a real headache when it comes to later in the game with all that mez flying around. -
Oh I see. Just get a couple of levels then the respec will be easy enough. Pretty much anyone, no matter how good, would fail against those odds.
While I'm here I may as well put my 2 bits in. Go Rad/sonic or rad/psy. Rad primary has such awesome utility, strong debuffs to both increase your survivability and damage, an awesome buff, an awesome hold for the OMGWEGONNADIE situations, a good heal. The wide variety in the types of power make this a fun set to play. The debuffs really come into their own when fighting mobs higher level than you. -

Fair game. If either base is under siege, drone tp-ing is a good tactic to even the odds and allow the besieged t break out. I suppose that's not really the getting to the point of your post but's my view on tping into drones.
In the case of your friend:
1. Duels in PvP zones are fair game!
2. Attempting a duel near either base is just going to attract attention
3. If being repeatedly tp'd into the base is annoying you then MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE! -

the great thing about LR is the -recharge and -regen, neither of which is affecte by slow enhancers. What it does need is 3 recharge slots as it has a long timer.

EMP doesn't drain your end, just halts end recovery for a while. But yeah, those end reducers really aren't needed. When I use EMP for PvP, I have it slotted something like 3 recharge and 3 endmod and use Aim to make sure it hits. If you're paying attention to the opponents end, when they're down to about 1/2 end, fire this off and you'll drain all the rest of their end and hold them.

You only need one of NB or X-ray eyes. I'd never take both as they don't chain well togther. For a corruptor I'd take X-ray eyes, since it looks coolerFor PvP I'd never bother with Irradiate.

Certainly one of the better rez powers (possibly the best) but for PvP it's not that much use. I suppose it might be OK for zone PvP with the new crappy no health and end thing when you go to hosp.
Some of my own comments now
If you want to go for PvP only, drop all your AoEs, including your nuke. Keep EMP.
Fully slot RI, 3 tohit debuff, 2 defence debuff, 1 end redux.
Get acrobatics!
3 slot hurdle and use it with combat jump. This'll keep you nicely out of melee. If you can fit it in, get superspeed too that will help a lot.
If you can spare the slots, put 3 tohit buffs into aim. That'll cut right through those pesky SR scrappers and is real nice for spanking people who think they're safe when they use Moment of Glory.
Cosmic Burst is the best attack you have so 6 slot it, 2 acc 3 damage and a recharge. -
Neutron bomb sucks in a very spectacular fashion. Very long animation, heavy end cost, really crappy damage. Don't get it!

The idea is that you're in melee range for only the strike of the power, and let the animation run as you're sailing though the air as you jump. Also, staying out of range until you can deliver a considerable punch can often be a good idea, and it keeps you out of any nasty location effects.
For a melee user, I'd take superspeed, and put a few slots in it for run speed and end redux so you can actually catch up to people, and combat jump/sj so you can reach them when they're up high. Working in some fast unsupressed movement is good, i.e combat jump + hurdle with slots in hurdle is pretty fast. -
Elec doesn't get knockback protection right? If that's the case then superjump is pretty much mandatory, for acrobatics.

If you don't have to run and jump around like an epileptic flea then you're fighting very inexperienced players.
Having said that, aid self is a very useful power to have, you just have to use it when you have enough time to stop for a mo, not when you're having a can of whoopass opened on you. -
Choking cloud is utter [censored] for PvP. The accuracy is very poor and the time between hold ticks is far too long.

I gave this a quick try in PvE and found it hard to use in those conditions, due to the small AoE and long animation. I think I had a try with it in PvP too but I might have just dreamed that! In any case, the conclusion was that the AoE is too small to be any good, which is a real shame.

If you're a PvEer then grab Irradiate and Choking cloud. The big defence debuff in Irradiate allows Choking Cloud to hit far more often. Choking Cloud kinda needs 6 slots (3 hold, 3 endredux), while Irradiate could do with a couple of accuracy slots, to ensure that the debuff lands.
I'd say keep EMP, you'll still find times that it'd be really handy. And keep mutation! There's not many sets out there with a res power. -
Hurl would be better for PvP, since it's ranged and those flying heroes can be hard to reach.

Fallout and Atomic Blast? You are teh crazy! If I were you I'd drop one and get combat jumping, unless you're pouring a few slots into hurdle.

AM only decreases the duration of mez effects on you. If I could get Indomitable Will I surely would, but alas it's only available to trollers. No fair I tell you!
I honestly can't think of anything else to take instead of SS. I mean, I could drop SS and the flight pool altogether and go for Leadership or Stealth... -
Hey! So, Irradiator is gimp. Anyone who's teamed with me or fought against me will know I'm gimped. He's gimped cos I freespeced him to a weird PvPvE/Concept toon and the mishmash of ideas really didn't work, especially given I knew nothing about PvP at the last respec. The idea is to be self sufficient in PvP (for duels and just general zone madness). 3 travel powers because I love fly, it's sometimes useful in PvP despite all the -fly powers, and I can still get around the Shadow Shards without wanting to smash my computer to pieces.

OK, a quick analysis
As cool as green laser eyes is, drop x-ray beam. It's not that good compared to Neutrino Bolt and the two don't chain well.
If you're taking Choking Cloud take Irradiate too. The defence debuff from Irradiate is fairly hefty and it'll turn chokcing cloud into an awesome PvE power (with enough hold/endredux slots).
If you're in the thick of things trying to get Choking Cloud to work, it might be hard to use Proton Volley. You could probarbly afford to drop this and take Cosmic Burst earlier. Even if you keep the snipe, take Cosmic Burst earlier, it's awesome!
I'd think about swapping around powers so you take LR earlier and EF later, simply because EF is such an end hog when you only have TO/DOs.
Whoa, just noticed something. Take RI first! The defence debuff will make life much easier for you.
If you can shoehorn it in, acrobatics will be really good. I found knockback was a real pain in the later levels. For one, it messes up Choking Cloud positioning. The build might get a bit tight at this point
Personally, I don't think taking health is worth it when you have a self heal and so few hp. I'd go for sprint instead.
