Quote:I'm sure they're not as intimidated as they would be by someone shouting, "I'M THE EVIL MIDNIGHT BOMBER WHAT BOMBS AT MIDNIGHT! YEAH, BABY!"Can't find a decent online citation, but The Tick had a minor character called Hand Grenade Man, who, when asked what superpowers he had, said in a slightly crazy way, something to the effect of: "I have a hand grenade. It's surprising how differently people treat you when they know you have one."

Quote:Yep, mistaken.Didn't they kind of become useless anyway, once people stopped all the street hunting? I was under the impression that they did not record what happened in instances. Was I mistaken?
Doing something like the Synapse TF would get you in the top 10 for beating up Clockwork. -

Quote:It's not fallacious for you to assume something for which you have zero evidence. uh-huh.It's not fallacious for me to assume that something has no effect when there's no way to observe it.
Let's also keep in mind that just because YOU can't see any evidence does not mean that that there is no evidence. The people who implemented the cap are in a position to observe any such evidence.
Based on a statistical sample of *TWO*. I see.Quote:edit: just logged into a character with no options set to limit emails. Last spam received: today. The one previous to that: today. From different spam accounts. If the cap has an effect, it's imperceptible. -

Quote:Having your last entered bid show up in your next item annoys me to no end. I may not want to bid 56,333,222 on a Temporal Analyzer, you know?Yeah, I really don't know what they were thinking. I would guess this is a holdover from when you could only bid on some items individually so it was a time-saver. Now, it's just a liability.Quote:The "save last entered bid" feature (using that term loosely here) needs to go away.
I'm still undecided on the new UI. I see some of the changes as improvements and some as bad decisions. -
Quote:I guess my dual core system on broadband is one of those seven.Well, I'm glad the optimized the system for those with PII processors and dial ups. I never had an issue with excessive AH loading, but apparently those that did no longer face this problem. I think all seven of these players are quite happy.
Or maybe it was a more common issue than your sanctimonious post suggests. -
Quote:Well, your first paragraph is 100% clueless.I can only assume that the reason why the devs didn't just make 20 special slots in the vault available to everyone in the global is because they support cutelittlesquirrels.com or whatever their irritating name is. At least you don't have to give your account info to them to buy infl any more. The devs must be getting a cut in the real-money profits.
Also, the fact that you still cannot invite your offline alts into your own SG (along with the non-vault option above) shows they don't care about the loner who doesn't involve himself in the community.
The second one starts with a valid issue, but draws a clueless conclusion. -
Quote:"if"? "ever"?I don't wish to contest any of your other points, but I can't resist this. The end is in sight; It's 2 billion. Granted if the perceived value of an item ever warrants it, users could start exchanging outside the market,
Newsflash: Off-market trading is already happening for PvP IO's. -
My baseless speculation is that you are assigned to one of the markets as a default, based on your AT (i.e. a blaster would be blue by default).

Quote:If you never use that feature intentionally, remove it. You can reassign any key to do nothing (or reset it to default). It's still possible to flip the trays with the keyboard. I primarily use the keyboard since it's faster than mousing, and I still have problems occasionally bumping the tray back to 9 because I go to hit 0 and accidentally hit the - key (which rolls the tray).
To get rid of auto-run: /bind r nop
To get it back: /unbind r -

meh. There are definitely some noticeable improvements, some things that seem a step backwards, but also a great many items that are DIFFERENT - I haven't decided yet whether they are better or worse.
I will say one thing: no more nonsense where opening the AH window freezes everything. The interface opens smoothly and quickly. For that alone, I'm willing to work around the annoying parts. -
Yeah, supposedly it's an attempt to accommodate widescreen monitors better. Supposedly. It looks awful on my widescreen monitor.

Quote:If you're going to talk about logical fallacies.... if the email cap *IS* stopping some spam, how would you know? Where would your evidence be? You've got your own logical fallacy going....I don't see any evidence that the email cap is stopping spam, other than the post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy of "Kheldarn discovers email cap, this must explain why there is no spam." I definitely see evidence that the email cap is causing legitimate players problems.
And yeah, most security measures *DO* inconvenience legitimate users. I am inconvenienced by having two locks on my front door. Still, I don't plan to remove them because they serve a purpose. -
Quote:hmm....Sorry for double post, but could anyone please take a look at the pics and either confirm or debunk this as a bug? Or let me know if there is any more useful information I could provide.
I see a pattern there, in the toon who has a cape and the other ones trying to get various types of capes. I might be mis-remembering how the different capes work, but I THINK you *DO NOT* have capes unlocked.Quote:Here is the toon on the slot that already had the cape.
Here is the tailor screen, trying to get a full mantle cape with male sex selected. Only Valkyrie is available.
Here is the tailor screen, showing that all cape options are available on a male using high collar mantle.
Here is the same toon at the tailor screen, trying to get a high collar cape as a female. Only Basic, Arcane, and Valkyrie are availble.
Here is the same as above trying to get a full mantle. Only Valkyrie is available again.
Unless I'm mistaken, you can use the magic and valkyrie capes because you PAID for them. I believe that these capes are granted independent of the cape mission and can be used before reaching level 20. (I'm not at my home computer to check.)
Your screenshot proving that the old costume has capes uses a high collar one from the magic pack. The screenshot showing capes available lists as the back detail "High Collar" i.e. the magic pack cape. Unless I'm misremembering, nothing in your screenshots indicates that you ever unlocked standard capes. Is it possible that you have NOT done the cape mission on this character? Maybe your friend who remembers doing the mission with you is mistaken about which CHARACTER. -
Quote:Well, strictly speaking, if they are inviting people to send them submissions following specific guidelines, then it's not "unsolicited", is it?I believe that the legal problems stem from the contest. If you are not interested in prizes, I don't think that there is anything preventing you from just sending Paragon Studios your art and specifying that you are not competing in the contest.

Sign me up with my mind/psi.

No, you obviously don't.
And I'm disinclined to explain it to a "flippin idiot".
None taken. After that display, I couldn't care less what you think about me or anything else.Quote:No offense,Ironblade. -

Quote:hmm.... Wouldn't it be better to use the keyboard to activate the powers instead of the mouse? In many fights, I don't need to use the mouse at all and I could play with my eyes closed (knowing how to touch type helps). The owner explained that they had minor co-ordination/sight problems and in the heat of battle sometimes hit the right side arrow instead of power number one in that tray.
You can activate the powers in the first tray with the numeric keys across the top of the keyboard (not the numeric keypad). And trust me, it's not an insult to point out something like this that "everybody knows". I've encountered players who did NOT know they could use the keyboard for their powers and it dramatically increased their efficiency and enjoyment of the game. -
Quote:If the price is 1 million yesterday and 5 million today, which price is fair? Or does 'fair' vary by a factor of five or more on a daily basis? If those prices are the fair value, that's what you should get back. If they're not the fair value, then something should be done about that.
It wouldn't really be a player market then, would it? It would be some sort of gimped auction with nonsensical restrictions. Because, like any bureaucracy, the 'tolerance' would not be able to keep up with reality. -
Quote:It's not silly at all.I simply object to people claiming that teaming is not less common now than it used to be. The claim is just as silly as those who say CoV isn't distinctly different than CoH in terms of grouping.
Teaming is not less common *FOR ME* than it used to be.
Apparently, *YOUR EXPERIENCE* is different.
NEITHER of us is qualified to speak for everyone. -
Quote:Oh, don't start that BS in this thread too.Maybe that should show you that City Traveller, at the very least, is a bad reward for supposedly "fair" system?
It's fair because everyone gets treated the same way.
It's too bad if YOU don't like it, but that doesn't make it unfair.
