Sorry, I have never claimed they were not random. I do think it is set up to be a lot less random than people think it is; and this goes for many other recipe pools as well, and these things are at least partially mandated by what AT you are playing at the time.
And it has NOTHING to do with what AT you are playing.
As I recall, this was specifically in reference to regular drops. I don't recall any statements about purple drops being weighted or not. -

They made that and some of the TF/trial timers 20 hours, because if I start my STF at 8:00pm and have 7 Scrappers on team, then we don't finish until midnight because we eventually all have to go get teh nukes and shivans and heavies and war whistles BUT we finally complete it.
The next night I want to run another STF for another shiny Damage/Range synthetic Hami-O, but -- whaaaaat, I gotta wait until midnight to start?!
Secondly, the tip 'fame' timer is 20 hours. The TF reward timer is 18. -

Refer to the part I bolded and underlined. More desirable sets cost more than less desirable sets, i.e. the good/popular stuff costs more. 8. Counting only toons I actually play: I'm currently leveling 5 toons at 16, 19, 23, 39 and 46. The others (19 of them) are 50.
9. Yes, I bother with the math stuff. I IO all my characters once they get into the 30's.
I typically play at +1 level, regular team size. Unless I'm on a farming toon, then +0 level, team of 8. -

Now as to the quote on this post, I would agree IF I WERE THE ONLY ONE THIS HAPPENS TO. I'm not; everyone I know gets 7-8 out of 10 purple drops as, one of the same 2-3 Fortunatas OR one of the same 2-3 Unbreakable Constraints. That's not random, folks.
Anyway, despite your experience, my experience is that it does seem quite random.
Guess what else - a sample size of two people DOESN'T PROVE SQUAT! -

Someone suggested I make a shield tank named Ironshield, so I did.
'Hand to Hand Wombat' was too long, so I went with 'Unarmed Wombat'. Either way, the name suggested martial arts.
'Fidgety Girl' didn't automatically suggest an AT or powersets. I went with electricity and worked an exploding espresso machine into the story.
So yes, I've created characters just on the basis of the name, but the name usually suggests further character details. -

It's very simple. Once your character gets to the level you want to use for the random rolls, you turn off earning XP so the character stays that level forever. I have a blaster 'locked' at level 37.

Yep, every single toon has their own listing of vet rewards. Claiming a respec for Captain Blasto has no effect on any other characters.
