Switching from Hero to Villain and SG?
From somewhere in the thread of Snow Globe's "Guide to Going Rogue's Morality System - In plain English."
"You get to stay, but you can't use the base. Your prestige total and join date will remain if you want to stay with the group and return to being the same faction as the group/base."
Also, "You lose Super Leader rank in your group if you fully cross over from heroes to villains, or from villains to heroes."

@Mr.Catastrophe
I faced this same scenario with my main badging character and what Catastrophe mentioned is pretty much what happens.
I ended up transferring my Leader rank to another character I have in the SG with the help of one of my fellow SG members. It's too bad I had to bother to do that in the first place, but it was better to be certain about the Leader rank than to let the game handle stripping me of the star "automagically" with possible questionable results.

Another side effect of switching that I've never seen mentioned - You stop earning Prestige. It's exactly as if you've been forced out of SG mode, and the button greys out so that you can't reenter SG mode.
@Roderick
Yep I crossed my SoA Crab over to pick up badges I couldn't get as a Rogue. You are still technically in your SG but your name changes color.. May vary depending on srceen resolution but mine was red. You stop earning prestige which in my case meant for the first time in 50 levels I was earning full INF. I only stayed a hero a few days before working my way back to Villain and then Rogue again but did manage to rack up quite a bit of cash in those two days. :-D Once back you are fully reinstated .. of course if you were the leader before that title needs to be given back to you but anything lower is automatically renewed.

I got used to using the editable SG mode colors as a means to "trick out" having 10 different costume appearances, not just 5. I'd gladly give up the ability to earn Prestige as long as SG mode still worked enough to use the color options as any alignment.
Losing access to the SG mode for SG costume colors just renews my long time wish that this game would let us have more than just 5 standard costume slots.

And.... your name will be 'red' in the SG window when you're online. At least, I think it's supposed to be red. It looks more like hot pink.

My search fu is always questionable, so if this is somewhere and I haven't been able to locate it, I apologize...
My main badger hero is also the leader of a SG. I have run the Tips missions and am currently a Vigilante. I am still leader of my Hero SG and can still access my Hero SG base, from vet reward porter and the portals in the Isles.
What exactly happens should I run more tip missions and become a Villain:
Will I get kicked out of my Hero SG, losing leadership rank?
Will I remain leader of the SG, but be unable to access the base?
Remain leader, still be able to access the base?
What about prestige?
