Quote:Sadly, it sounds like the 'fancy schmancy' laptop is poorly designed. When you run the graphics and/or CPU at maximum capacity, it overheats and shuts down. To me, this is bad design and pretty close to false advertising. The system has listed specifications, but can't actually achieve them because the hardware is deficient.Today, I have a new "gaming" laptop (Dell Studio 15 w/ Windows 7, loaded with processing power and 4gb memory) and when I play COH the thing shuts down after a few minutes of playing.
I've done everything to it, even bought a $60+ chillpad, and nothing. Still wont play.
I dont understand how my old junky laptop could play the COH version from back in 2006, but my fancy schmancy new laptop wont play the 2010 version of COH. -
No. Pay attention to the CONTEXT. He was not referring to the cost to buy them. He was referring to the VALUE of what they could purchase. His comparison used the number of random rolls granted as the basis for comparison:
"With a purple costing 20 A-merits that would be 1000 Reward Merits to my math thinking (1 a-merit gets 5 random recipe rolls, 100 r-merits get 5 random recipe rolls)"
His calculation in 'random roll equivalents' is that an A-Merit is worth 100 R-Merits. But then he stated that 20 A-Merits are worth 1000 R-Merits. I pointed out that it should have been 2000 R-Merits. -
There should be one GM in every event zone at all times. If he is defeated, a new one spawns quickly (1-2 minutes). Originally, each spawn had a 90% chance to be Eochai and only 10% for Jack in Irons. This year, the Jack spawn rate was increased. We were not informed to what percent chance.
Please note: Jack does not spawn in low level (below 20) zones.
Paragonwiki has maps of the spawn points. -
From the other posts, it sounded like the problem was with being sidekicked, not the fact of being on a team per se. I was getting costume drops while on a team last night and I was not the leader. I WAS level 50 so I was the same level as the leader and not being sidekicked.

I would think this would be a lot faster with a team, as long as everyone on the team is pretty tough. If not, it's probably about the same speed as solo.
Here's my thinking:
1) A team can spread out and click doors a heck of a lot more often than a solo person.
2) This results in more event tip drops.
3) When you run the tip mission as a team, EVERYONE gets the reward.
I got all the badges while teamed last night. Lots of door clicking and pretty much non-stop combat. Once we had 5 tips amongst the team members, we ran the mission 5 times.
Also worth noting:
1) Defeating the mobs counts for the event badges (and everyone on the team gets credit).
2) The mobs can drop Halloween Event salvage.
3) The mobs also drop regular rewards. -
Quote:Bad luck, I guess. Also why is it every time I click a door I get a boss and LT?
I'm default settings yet this keeps happening.
Last night, while solo, I saw:
- one boss alone
- one boss plus a friend (I don't recall if it was a minion or lieutenant.)
- one lieutenant, 2 minions
- three minions -
Quote:No. Drops are PER MOB. If the random number generator decides a particular enemy is going to drop a recipe, it will only drop ONE. It will be decided randomly who on the team gets it. This is why farmers prefer to be solo - they will get every single drop that occurs (assuming they have room for it).Does each mob have a chance to drop an item per person involved in killing it?
No. The item is lost.Quote:If an item is dropped for a person who isn't able to take it {full storage, for example}, is it passed on to another person?
Recipes and salvage - yes.Quote:Do the answers to the questions above apply equally to all types of drops - inspirations, salvage, tips, etc.?
Inspirations - I think so, but I'm not sure.
Tips - I have no clue. I don't even consider them 'drops'.
Note that there are some intentional exceptions. For example, if you defeat an AV, EVERYONE gets an SO of their own origin. -
How do you know your temporary power list was full? Was there some sort of error message? Last year, I had at least 60 temp powers and then got every costume, of which I think there were 35. This year, I have over 80 temps to start, but have only done a little ToT'ing and have only received 10 or 11 costumes so far.

In the options menu, near the bottom of one of the tabs, aren't there two buttons "Save Options" and "Load Options"? I'm not sure, since I use keybinds to load and save options, chat settings, etc.
If I'm recalling those buttons correctly, log into a toon who does display the icons, go into the menu and hit 'Save Options'. Then log into the toon with the problem and hit 'Load Options'.
It's probably some setting we just can't figure out and this should update a whole slew of settings at once. -

From a mission from.... umm.... darn. I forget his name, but he's contact standing right behind Wentworths in Talos. Unfortunately the mission does not appear in Ouroboros.
You can also get it from the weapons side mission in a safeguard/mayhem mission. -
Quote:Correct.Im lvl 48 Oro showed lvl 45 stuff so im assuming these are only available to 50's?
You can get the 40-45 arcs as soon as you hit 45. To access the 45-50 arcs, you need to be 50.
However, you can accompany someone else running the arc as long as you are in the level range. So you could do it now if you find a level 50 to be leader and get the arc. -
There seems to be some confusion about whether (and how) you can get more than 3 respec badges. Also, it may be intended that we are able to earn all 6 and the badges may be awarded later on to any who have done the trials.
Accordingly, I will bring Ironblade for the red respec as he is currently a full villain. (And needing more badges - MoLRSF anyone?) -

Or toss in a power. I posted in the official thread that this pack seems a bit lean compared to the five origin packs.
-
hmmm.... Tough call on this pack.
I skipped the Wedding Pack. It had a few really nice costume pieces, but nothing else for me. I did think about it for a while, though.
I didn't even consider the Party Pack for an instant.
This one is tough, though. The capes and auras are REALLY nice..... but it just seems kind of.... 'lean' compared to a lot of the other packs. I mean, the science pack lets me change my characters size and gender! The natural pack gave me Ninja Run! These are big deals.
(The Wedding and Party packs are the only ones I don't have. I have all other packs and expansions on both accounts.) -
Quote:Look at police officers. I think a more significant factor is what the enemy is doing. If some Hellions are mugging people, lethal force is not justified. If they are firebombing a building with people in it, lethal force is justified. When sent to "arrest" some Hellions or Council goons, perhaps your toon uses nonlethal rubber bullets. A "real" Hero is so good that he or she can afford not to kill. Look at Captain America, Daredevil, or Batman.
Never safe to make a statement like this. It depends on who is writing it and how the writer wants it to turn out. I can show you plenty of examples where the Punisher runs into Daredevil and wipes the floor with him - in a non-lethal manner.Quote:Then there's The Punisher. It's been shown he can't stand up to Cap or even Daredevil in a straight fight,
I disagree here. The game information specifically says that Rogues are in it for personal gain. Frank would definitely be a Vigilante. He does the same sort of stuff Heroes do, but uses lethal force at all times. Textbook vigilante.Quote:For the sake of argument, let's say that Frank is basically a Rogue. He is far more vicious than even the average Vigilante, but one can't call him a true Villain.
Let's not forget that Wolverine's claws are retractable and he is an EXCEPTIONAL hand-to-hand combatant.Quote:Wolverine. He has to be mentioned here. If your main and most lethal attack are razor-sharp claws, how could you avoid doing lethal damage if you struck a bad guy hard enough to hurt him?
Actually, you kind of are. The system, and comics in general, are way to flexible and vague (deliberately so) for this kind of pigeonholing.Quote:I'm not at all suggesting a cut and dried formula which must be followed here,
Yeah..... Doesn't this at least partially invalidate your earlier statements? Or are you deliberately spending some time arguing each side in order to start the discussion?Quote:Nothing I've said should be taken as inflexible. In fact, the very flexibility possible in CoX is part of what makes it so enjoyable.

I'll craft something with no regard to price if I think I will be needing it soon on one of my characters. I do this so that I can't sell it by accident. You can sell any recipe at a vendor with one mis-click. Crafted enhancements can not be sold at the vendors.
If I decide later that I don't need it, I'll dump it on the market. -

FYI, both arcs are available in Ouroboros. The new arc is called 'A Hero's Epic'. The old one is called 'A Hero's Hero'.
P.S. Both of Tina MacIntyre's arcs are also there. The new one is 'The Instant Army'. The old one is 'The Praetorian War'. -
Okay, the chat issue is easy.
1) Log into a different character, who has a good chat window set-up.
2) Make any changes you want to the chat window - add channels, move tabs, etc.
3) Type /chatsave (This will save your chat window settings in a file on your computer.)
4) Log into the character with the borked chat window and type /chatload
Also note: Once you set up a saved chat profile, it will automatically use that set-up for any new characters you create.
As for the buff icons, I'm not sure. I can think of one thing you can try that fixed that sort of problem for a friend.
- Bring up the game menu and pick OPTIONS.
- On the GENERAL tab, scroll pretty far down.
- I don't recall the name of the category, but you want an option that mentions something like "stop sending all buffs".
- Set it to stop sending all buff information and hit APPLY NOW. (Yes, I know this isn't what you want.)
- Then set it to display the buffs and hit APPLY NOW.
- You may also need to zone and/or restart CoH.
Sometimes the settings get 'stuck'. A similar solution applies when your friends tell you that you are in hidden mode but your menu settings say that you are not hidden. Type /hideall and then type /unhideall. This gets it 'unstuck'.
